As of the recent patch they've broken something. Seems you only deliver base damage or something in tournaments, no speed bonus and no power strike difference.. The tournaments were far more functional in previous versions of brytenwalda now there's just no point in doing them. The javelins in brytenwalda as assbackwards as fuck, though. I don't know where this dumb "javelins pierce hardwood shields and make them useless" myth originated from, but your shield gets hit by 1-2 javelins in brytenwalda and it gets fucking vaporized because they all have a "bonus damage to shields" effect. Realism. Also for some godforsaken reason all the axes in the game deliver piercing damage. So any troop type that carries a hatchet is instantly ubermencsh.
Have you posted about this on their sub-forum? They're big on realism so if you explain it to them they might change it in the next patch. How do you change the fonts in the Shogun mod? I can't read anything.
I can't hit shit with that shotgun. Some people are really good with it and kill like 7 guys in 1 shot.
It is hilarious, just shoot random and you get tons of kills.
It is hilarious, just shoot random and you get tons of kills.
Ah, i always try to hit them. I guess that's my problem.
Because you got caught by a slow moving army? How the hell did that sneak up on you?
Happens all the time when you use Ctrl + Space to speed things up.

I've started playing singleplayer again after a long time, playing Floris. I just wish it wouldn't include all these terribly textured items along with the great ones. So annoying to see someone in Narf's armor standing next to a guy with a sword or helmet with some crappy texture that looks like a solid color.
Ah, i always try to hit them. I guess that's my problem.
I find that it's best to not aim at people, when I aim for someone, bullets literally does a circle around him and all I see is dirt kicking up around him.

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,189.0.html
I go there all the time. The concept of realism is highly ambiguous to a lot of people I guess. I'm just going to wait until the final brytenwalda version comes out and I'll go through a bunch of stuff with Morghs editor and make a little re-balance. Its fundamentally a great mod but some of the realism concepts are really fallacious. There's lots of myths and exaggeration in the history of warfare so its hard to be realistic if you're not basing your realism on actual realism.
I find that it's best to not aim at people, when I aim for someone, bullets literally does a circle around him and all I see is dirt kicking up around him.
Yeah just shoot above him or next to him.
I really want to make my own nation, because we've destroyed the Khergit and the Sarranids, have 43 lords, and are 1 castle away from beating the Nords. Vaegirs have an awesome relation with us, and we already kicked the ass of the Rhodoks, but made peace.
I wish cavalry was more effective in mount and blade. They're very useful but prone to bum rushing straight into the enemy and getting surrounded.
I wish cavalry was more effective in mount and blade. Wait till everyone is regrouped out of range before charging again. With 50 mercenary cavalry among around 20 other mixed cavalry troops I defeated an army of 400 Rhodoks doing this.

Cavalry is overpowered as fuck if you know how to use it. With 30 Swadian Knights in classic Mount&Blade you could wipe the map clean.

How do you counter this? Just a high tactics skill? [editline]11th May 2012[/editline] Any suggestions for single player mods? Anything with a similar scope as Floris Mod? I want to start again but I don't feel like playing Floris Mod or Native. Not the hugest fan of Blood and Steel either, too weird.
There are not that many good singleplayer mods for warband.
Pendor's a bit of an overhaul and definitely not for the weak of heart but it is very solid
Oh, I'm using Battlesizer, so all those 470 units are ingame.
ahh is that how it works? so even if I'm massively outnumbered, I still get to use my whole army?
Battlesizer is pointless in warband. Find the rgl_config.txt file in your warband documents and there's an option near the end of the file for battle_size or something. Change it from 1 to something like 2 or 3. However giant battle can make some sieges almost impossible.
ahh is that how it works? so even if I'm massively outnumbered, I still get to use my whole army?
If your battle size is 500 and you are fighting 400 enemies with 50 of your own you get all units in the field anyway.
so i just started playing blood and steel since i got kinda tired of native. it seems fine so far except for two things: extortionate food/everything prices (not that big of a deal), and the goddamned bandits. i can't go twenty feet without being chased by 7 parties of 100 camels each. is there any option to reduce this shit or should i get a different mod?
What you do is find a lord, follow him around until he fights an undead army, win, and then bask in 500k gold
i've always been good at leeching off of other people, great idea
i've always been good at leeching off of other people, great idea
Remember: Cav charges for 50 damage in Blood and Steel

I saw some mention of somebody working on aspect of a mod that was a pretty cool idea - becoming one of your common soldiers when you are wounded so you aren't just sitting and watching the fight (or instantly retreating, but p. much everyone has battle continuation on), something I had thought would be very nice in some situations before. not sure what the name of the mod was. but i want it for everything.
