If you are only able to choose one get Warband. If you're really into mods and want to try Star Wars, The Last Days (LOTR mod), Blood (crazy mod with V, Roland Deschain, Vampires, Werewolves, amd drugs. You'll have to ask me for the DL because the person who made it stopped work and replaced it with a new version with half the content), then you're going to want to get Mount&Blade Classic. There isn't too much of a difference and you can try the Demo for M&B Classic to see if you're ok with the old gameplay. Only get Fire&Sword if you have a fetish for leading an army of Cossacks, Swedish pikemen, or Janissaries, or if you just like giving TaleWorlds money so they'll make M&B2 faster.
Thanks, were can i get some of these mods?
To start your own faction do you just take castles etc while you have no allegiance to someone? Either way it seems hard to get an empire going since when you begin you are just one party and you have to go to war with someone.

It would be wise to go in with a lot of money and troops to ration out to castles, and it is likely to go to war with multiple factions a short while after starting up.
Is Napoleonic Wars any good? It's on sale for 12 more minutes on Steam at 5 bucks, and I've been considering getting it, if only for the multiplayer.
Is Napoleonic Wars any good? It's on sale for 12 more minutes on Steam at 5 bucks, and I've been considering getting it, if only for the multiplayer.
It doesn't have singleplayer i think.
Is there a better way to build up an army? I've been looting and burning villages of one of the factors in my game but i don't have the manpower to take a castle. Preferably without having ally anyone.
Once you have 10 leadership, renown and charisma are the only way to increase your party size.
Sounds like getting leadership is the best way to do it, I have a long way to go then. Only at two.
The game is a bit skewed in that manner. Faction nobles can walk around with like 300+ troops on some occasions regardless of their leadership skills. You have to go quality over quantity in warband most of the time, field high tier troops. Leadership is actually pretty bollocks for your party size, training skills are really more important so you can raise veteran troops quickly. Leadership is good for the morale bonus though, there's a penalty for your party size, so with that in mind high leadership characters can really pack troops into thier army and not suffer significant morale problems.
Sounds like getting leadership is the best way to do it, I have a long way to go then. Only at two.
Focus on building up your renown more. ESPECIALLY if you ever try Brytenwalda. Max leadership + Charisma in Brytenwalda nets you only about 50-80 troops while you can ride Renown past 200.
Am I playing Hussars right?

So, walking home today and pop into tech branch of local supermarket. PC sale section i see Warband for £7.99. Naturally buy it. Does Star Wars: Conquest work with Warband, or is it just classic?

If I had unlimited amounts of time and patience, I'd add 2 factions to the vanilla Warband map. An African styled tribe and a Shogunate styled group.
No horse 0/10 would not stab.
I got knocked off of it the moment before.

[editline]12th June 2012[/editline] Also, the african tribe would probably be annihilated pretty quickly (yay imperialism)

A shogunate sounds pretty awesome though.

Shogun would probably have an upper-hand in terms of foot soldiers such as spearmen and samurai.
The African terrain could also be made like thick jungle and stuff, which would give them a chance versus cavalry. Also, war ostriches with diamond tipped claws.

Do it. NOW! Now that I think about it, could the Sarranids have elephants? Any of you history buffs can tell us if Arabians utilized elephants? They've had some pretty big empires.

So apparently doing 1v1s at the training ground with AI on good and battle speed on fast makes for some pretty decent chambering practice.
Of course, and they don't hold their attacks to fuck up your chambers.
Yeah, obviously they telegraph a lot more so it's not like it's perfect practice for chambering in crpg, but it's great for getting the timing down.
Anybody know the purpose of flaming arrows in Brytenwalda?
Ninja. Fucking Ninja. Why are Gladiators, Huns and Brigands espionage units? Because I can't think of another name, that's why. Also, the African tribe would have the largest shields (albeit quite weak) and best spear/javelin units. Their terrain varies from savanna to thick jungles, which could block cavalry and missiles. The Shogun would have the best swordsman*, and have a wide variety of units, such as: Cavalry -Spear -Sword -Bow Infantry -Spear -Sword -Bow -Crossbow Of course, the Shogun would lack large armies, due to their upkeep and complexity, and they would have fewer lords. *[sub][sub]Yes I know you hate that, but they have to have an advantage somewhere[/sub][/sub]
