Last time I played CRPG, they had only started to integrate Strategus. Does it make any sense nowadays to play it without participating in Strategus? [editline]17th June 2012[/editline] Nevermind, I just remembered that I moved to a place where I won't ever get a ping below 100. Most of the time I can be happy if my latency is below 200ms...
Where did you move to have such ping to all servers? Also, Strategus has never been mandatory, I've been playing cRPG for well over 2 years now and I only fought maybe 5 strategus battles in total. Strategus is just overglorified siege and I never play it.

No guide, but offhand: dyeworks in rivacheg, winery in jelkala (or maybe it's oilworks, can't remember), oilworks in veluca, a brewery in dhirim, an ironworks in curaw, brewery in yalen, wineries in shariz/durquba, dyeworks in ichamur. Any other enterprises tend to be hit and miss. Heavily trade-oriented towns (like Halmar, for instance) tend to be shit for enterprises because their economies can change very rapidly.
I don't know if anyone cares, but we got a fightclub going on at the balion_war_room server right now.
I finally bought this game after playing a lot on an "unofficial" version I got off my friends flash drive. I can't wait to finally try multi player. I've only played single player (mostly with prophesy of pendor), how it multiplayer different, what things should I know?

The battles are huge, and you're meant to stay back and just try to survive in the beginning. Oh, but how great it feels when you finally start making kills. I liked it much better than vanilla MP. Actually it was the only game mode I ever really played in multiplayer.

I would downgrade if I could figure out how

You mean Defend the virgin? There's upkeep there. You can also get to level 30 with full 2h equipment within 2 days if you have the time (Read: no life) and even if you don't play much it's easily attainable in a week.
there is? I don't remember paying a single gold coin for my max 5k upkeep set
Might have gotten really lucky, it depends when that was, it seems that they reduced the upkeep in Siege and DTV right now, I can go several maps in Siege with 5.2k max upkeep set without getting a single repair, I only have like 10k buffer for upkeep and I'm still gaining money on that much gear. Upkeep if anything should be tick based or completely remove, it doesn't work, everyone is so god damned rich that it doesn't matter, the only one it matters to are the new people and they can get past the hindrance of upkeep within a few days.
Man, the Floris mod looks amazing. I'm really questioning Taleworld's dedication to the game considering they haven't added any of the improvements that these mods add like Minecraft did. Maybe they are just saving it for Mount and Blade 2.
Minecraft is an indie games, indie games are known for taking things from the community much more than professional studios would. Comparing Mount and Blade and Minecraft is not very smart.

It took until they made millions in sales until paradox picked them up. Taleworlds did a great job on warband, but surprisingly they keep doing dumb things like creating shitty expansion packs no one gives a fuck about.
I'm not too excited about M&B2 I'm more excited about War of The Roses. But that's probably cause I'm more into the actual in-game combat gameplay than the campaign stuff. Have you seen the community for Napoleonic Wars? I can't say for sure about WF&S because it's mainly a singleplayer game so who knows how many plays that, but the multiplayer is actually quite popular.
I wish taleworlds would add more shit but tbh I believe M&B is one of those games where the developers just go "lol here ya go modders" [editline]17th June 2012[/editline] I wish taleworlds would add more shit but tbh I believe M&B is one of those games where the developers just go "lol here ya go modders"

They also didn't make it. They only officially published it. Paradox has a habit of picking the devs up for a publishing deal on certain mods if they have excellent quality. See Darkest hour, Arsenal of democracy, Napoleonic wars, For the glory. They're an extremely small team and are devoting their resources to MnB2. They were adding shit for YEARS.
God. I really hope MnB2 doesn't suck. I just got finished playing War Of the Roases alpha... From what I've seen, the direction they are going is a one way trip to the dumpster. War of the Roses Notes: The animations were very unclear, very hard to manual block. You take damage when you block an attack. Very very little feedback on attacks. WotR idea to balance archers was to make them pinpoint accurate, make the projectile super fast, but make them do less damage than warband. Theres a crutch for noobies that when you get into combat, your mouse sensitivity is lowered so you don't over turn or something. However, its actually just really annoying and fucks you up. Everytime you kill someone they go down like in gears of war. Then they have to be executed or revived. Which I, personally, think is a pretty bad game design choice from the start. Just lacks that "smooth" feeling I always got from mount and blade. Someone in the game studio thought it would be a good idea to make it so you have a visor that blacks out 50% of your screen! tl;dr: Unclear animations, blocking is overall shit, an "unsmooth" version of Mount and blade warband for the mainstream. Note: this is regarding the WotR ALPHA. So this shit is subject to change. However the alpha is shit. Warband alpha was amazing in comparison. Also note, I do realize that taleworlds really has nothing to do with this.
Damn that sounds ass, I damn sure hope they fix that shit because I saw it as a game with M&B mechanics but better animations and graphics. M&B2 as it looks now, visually seems to look only slightly better.

It's also running a pretty good physics/ragdoll engine, except for the fact the game doesn't even take advantage of it. Because 99% of the time, when someone dies, they slowly lie down into a "dying" animation where they need to be finished off. If you've played Age of Chivalry, then that's kinda how WotR handles. If you recall AoC, it was a pretty good mod. However, blocking just wasn't consistent, and the game overall just felt really clunky.
War Of the Roases alpha
how when where do i sing up
how when where do i sing up
You get a key when you go to that dreamhack thing. I was using a friends account.

Yeah, here's the footage. Appears very early, still.

I'm having a fun time playing a realistic-save Nord mercenary in Floris fighting in Ragnar's army.
