Mount&Blade (Warband too) thread V. Knights of Calradia

May give M&B another go. I normally just expend all of my energy on upgrading all of my leadershippy, charisma skills, then take a castle before I can really hold on to it.
May spend 10-20 levels just levelling up my combat abilities and helping out as many villages as I can. I may even try specialising in something that isn't being a horseman! Any suggestions for what I should specialise in? Is it at all recommended to have an army of just foot soldiers/archers?
[editline]18th June 2012[/editline]
Typically I'll just go for KNIGHTS KNIGHTS KNIGHTS and steamroll everyone in a quite boring, repetitive fashion.
Okay, I've just rage-quit from M+B.
I get my first village, a very poor village, recently been looted and burned, so I spend about 3 in-game months working with it until eventually "Prosperity changes from Average to Rich" ... moments later, it is burned to ground by Kingdom of Nords that declared war only half a day ago while I was half a continent away and unable to defend it.

Getting a whole load of Knights and running down everything is the designated easymode in MB, and yes it does get boring quickly. Personally I run an army of Huscarls and Rhodok crossbowmen, they perform well in every situation, and just need to stand close together if faced with cavalry.

I really wish I was good at fighting in M&B, I usually just have to let my men do it for me :(
Normally I try my best to get lots of kills but it ends up being such a laggy clusterfuck of people I end up getting lanced in the back or something. Really ought to sort out my fps issues.
Ye, I think I'm going to stop playing NW. I just can't take this shit - imagine that there's some british bum standing in front of me, aiming at my teammate. I run right into his butt, bayo it - it goes right through. No damage, not even that "pomf" when you are way too close to deal any damage. Again - it just goes through. Again - like he's a ghost. Then he turns around and huge lag party begins. Controls feel delayed by like 2-3 seconds. Pings were nice, server was hosted on a good machine. Few seconds later I die because rest of his team skirmished into our fort (Oh yeah official linebattles)
Which is better quality or quantity?
You know, like 30 footmen or 15 infantry.
Quality.
Quality.
Easily
Send 30 peasants at 5 huscarls and let me know how that goes for the peasants
My life just got a load better now that my Horse goes at Mach 1 and I have a two-handed sword that does over 100 damage at full speed.
Im currently at patch 1.152, and 1257 only runs on 1.131, how do i go back a patch or two?
[editline]16th June 2012[/editline]
nvm I figured it out :P
You mind sharing? I'm on 1.152 and I need to be on 1.143 to play cRPG
Never mind I figured it out, you can download old versions from their FTP server at ftp://anonymous:anonymous@208.43.68.152/
Taleworlds really needs to add Steam Workshop support considering the heavy modding aspect of this game. I'm not sure why they haven't done it yet quite honestly.
So uh, I never saw a link to the mod that lets you take over as one of your troops when you get knocked out...anyone?

1257 has that.

Yes, some info on that would be mighty good.
Edit: Nevermind...

Diplomacy has it and is the closest to vanilla if you don't want a complete overhaul.
Well I did it! I formed my own kingdom, didn't get buttfucked by the other factions (I only have 50 right to rule, so I got lucky), but now one of my nobles got imprisoned. Can I pay to get him out, because its looking impossible to break him out or lay siege?
So I'm into the War of The Roses alpha (didn't see a thread about it). Uhh, yeah, it's complete shit. To me it feels like Mount & Blade: Overdone Bloom effects and "cinematic" shit everywhere: We want Call of Duty's audience Edition

the only thing that's similar to mount and blade is directional combat, it's a completely different game
and guess what buddy it's an alpha, why can't you understand this simple fact?
stop being retarded

I understand that it's an alpha, but the general feel of the game is already established. I'm fine with letting the bugs and kinks being worked out later, but I can definitely tell what kind of game they're trying to make. There's only so much you change from Alpha to release date, and you can't just completely reverse the direction a game is going in that time. Do you really think a game will be utterly different by the time it releases? From my experience, no, in spirit it's pretty much the same game. Again, the bugs and glitches don't urk by so much, and I know it's not complete yet (They haven't added all the classes and weapons), but it feels bad. It feel really, really, dumbed down. It feels like they're going for the console audience, honestly. There are no tactics or skills involved in fighting, as there were in M & B, and graphics are filled with bloom to try to create a cool "cinematic feel" for the game.
And who ever said that War of the Roses was supposed to be a new version of Mount and Blade?
And who ever said that War of the Roses was supposed to be a new version of Mount and Blade?
Nobody. I wasn't expecting the combat to feel clunky, the weapons to have no weight behind them, and for there to be smears of blood on your screen when you got hurt. If I wasn't expecting Mount & Blade, I certainly wasn't expecting them to have taken multiple steps backward. Who are they catering to with this game?
Anyone know a good guide for enterprising? I'm looking to buy some stuff in the nord cities but i have absolutely no idea what to get.
I just had my first training with the 51st Regiment. During the promotions at the end, I accidentally shot the major general. Fuck I've never been so embarrassed..
Sounds like my idea of hell, If I'd done that and been embarrassed because of their reaction I would have immediately left the regiment. The underlining cause to join a regiment is to have fun, not to get kicked down because you make an honest mistake, and thats why I hate the majority of serious regiments, a lot of whom are full of people who are unable to take a joke and whom ban/demote for petty things.
Because contrary to popular belief, Discipline =/= Skill.

Yes, though Khergit Lancers might be an exception compared to other heavy cav.

Archery is hilariously overpowered when you get it at a high level.
I got one character toPower Draw 10, with a Masterwork War Bow.
I could break most shields in a single shot, and kill swadian knights in a single shot to the body.
Played Napoleonic Wars for the first time today. I had a lot of fun, I just wish the muskets were a little more accurate.

I can attest to that last line.
I never play serious, and yet I can whoop entire regiments by myself just because I actually know how to play the game.
Outside of Native/cRPG, it seems that the skill level is relatively low, and outside of a lucky bullet hitting me, I can kill 10 enemies in melee without a sweat.
