Welp, the group has been made. If anyone is interested in a Facepunch Napoleonic Wars regiment then follow the link and join the group. So that fun times can be had.

Haven't got a group icon yet, maybe will just edit the FP logo with a moustache or something on it.
Is this still going on? I joined the group. I also opened up Paint.NET and made a logo.
Played Napoleonic Wars for the first time today. I had a lot of fun, I just wish the muskets were a little more accurate.
For the most part they are quite accurate, but if people move even slightly it's easy as shit to miss.
For the most part they are quite accurate, but if people move even slightly it's easy as shit to miss.
I find muskets infinitely easier to use than pinpoint bows and crossbows just because of the huge missile speed.

Oh, not to mention that the musketoon is awesome if you're close enough and you shit all over the word aiming.
Repost from something awful:
I keep getting lost about day 80 - 120 and restarting. I get an army of ~40 well trained men from a bunch of different factions taking care I avoid hiring from places likely to declare war on the faction I'm going to join.
I join a faction as a mercenary, do jobs for lords, help them destroy the enemy, get nothing in return, have the enemy king magically catch me and decimate my troops, he takes me prisoner, and I start over because fuck making all those soldiers again.
Am I doing something wrong? I want to take over castles of my own but I'm always outnumbered and my right to rule has never gone above 12 (what it is on my current run). No one lets me marry into their family and I don't know what to do. I've read you basically get fucked if you don't have a really high honour and right to rule rating but they are so hard to get up
What do I do?
E: I just said fuck it, camped until my contract with Swadia expired then saw that the Vaegirs went to war with the Nords and the Khergits, so I tired to siege a castle with 160 men in it and no option to comes up. I thought you could siege a castle if you were unaligned or do I need to become a vassal and a lord before I can siege a castle?
Does anyone know what Taleworlds' next project is?

First of all, you have to piss off a faction before you can siege their castles. Usually raiding a single caravan or attacking one of their lords gets the job done.
Second, allow me to refer you to my earlier guide on moving up in Mount&Blade.
A lot of people are going about becoming a Lord all wrong. They rush into it way too fast.
There are five things you should address before you even think about becoming a Lord.
Troops
Money
Right to Rule
Companions
Honor
Troops: Part 1
At the beginning of the game, do quests and kill bandits until you are able to field an army of about 30-50 troops. This should be enough to scare away most bandits and defeat the ones that do attack you.
Money
Buy Iron in Sargoth and sell it to Ahmerrad, where you will buy Dates and sell back in Sargoth. If you think your party strong enough to defeat large amounts of Sea Raiders, buy Salt in Wercheg and sell it in Rivacheg. Repeat this until you have bought a Dyeworks in EVERY CITY except Jelkala. Now every week you will receive a massive payment of money.
Right to Rule
Recruit and use every companion in the game, listed in the picture below, to spread the word of what an awesome King you will be. You will notice some companions will get angry of what you send them off to do. This doesn't matter. In a few days they will have calmed down and you can then send them off to spread the word again. By doing this you gain 48 free Right to Rule, which makes being a King much easier as other Kings will be more likely to negotiate.
Companions
So which one of these companions do you actually keep? All of them.
Let me explain. First, take a good look at this picture here.

There are essentially two sets of companion groups. Nobles and riff-raff.
The first group you should stick with and keep by you are the Nobles, circled in Red + Artimenner and Borcha.
A companion being Noble means you can turn them into Lords without pissing off other Lords in the realm, which essentially means free vassals for you when you become King. Once you have become King and have finished making all the ones circled in red Lords, dismiss Artimenner and Borcha (or make one of them your royal minister if you don't want your wife to have the job) and recruit the other set of Companions.
Honor
There are a few simple rules you should always abide
NEVER take gifts from villages. This nets you honor, which is useful for
ALWAYS release Lords when you defeat them. This also nets you honor.
The aim of the game is to maximize honor. With high honor you automatically get good relations with other "good" Lords. What this means is that eventually you will have 50+ relations with Lords you've never met, which makes it much easier to recruit Lords when you become King AND it makes the relation penalty matter less when you assign fiefs.
Troops: Part 2
Now that you have all this money buy the best equipment possible for each companion and yourself. Now just keep doing quests and building up your relationship with villages until you can field an army of at least 100. Relationship with villages is very important as high relationship allows you to recruit larger numbers of troops from villages, allowing you to build up your army much more quickly.
Now you can become a Lord and try to become King. Don't forget to marry the son/daughter of whichever Lord owns a city.
That should point you in the right direction.

Mount&Blade 2 MOTHERFUCKER!
Thanks
2 questions
1: How do I get honour up fast because even though it's the easiest thing to do, I'm finding it impossibly hard to find enough villages that need saving or lords with an equal army that I can beat.
2: Why dyeworks? In a lot of towns I get told I will only earn 50 Denars a week whereas breweries ect get me 220+

Sorry, that;s pretty much it. Do you have an ongoing quest right now? Usually you won't be given an additional quest until you finish that one. Besides, there are tons of villages in the game to try to get quests done. Honor is one of the more optional things. If it's giving you a hard time, forget it for now.
They must have changed dyeworks in the latest patch. Oh well. Just choose the most profitable business then.
New Player here, any essential mods I should get?
Non graphic ones I mean, my computer can barely run it.

I just can't get good at this game, no matter how much I practice I can't block for shit
I just can't get good at this game, no matter how much I practice I can't block for shit
Ive played for 400 hours, and I often top scoreboards on top servers, and my blocking is at best mediocre. Its mainly because Ive perfected the art of slaughtering newbies, but I cannot beat players on the same level as me to save my life. And when I face experienced keyboard blockers Im fucked from the start.
My tactics:
1) If Napoleonic Wars, don't block until the last second, then keep doing downward thrusts (most of the time newbies will be caught off guard and you'll get a kill on the 1st thrust) before coming out with a surprise overhead thrust as quickly as possible into his face.
2) If Vanilla, just remember these pieces of advice: (although do note I have not played Warbands standard MP for months, and I expect some of it might have been invalidated by recent updates)
Kicking is useless and extremely risky to pull off.
If you've got a two hander destroy opponents with shields by hugging them. They won't be able to pull off a hard swing but you'll still be able to either stun them or one hit them if you make contact.
The Holy Spear is faster than the Two Handed Sword/Bastard Sword, and you can exploit this by beating your opponent to death with it and its outrageous stunlock.
The Scimitar is excellent for its speed and fluidity, so exploit that by weathering down your opponents defense.
Maces are good for stunlocking and one hit killing lighter enemies, as well as being able to do more damage to heavier enemies.
Doing larger swings gives you a speed bonus as well.

The biggest problem I have in combat is blocking, when my opponent starts swinging at me I either can't judge where its going to be coming from and react fast enough or I can't get mt weapon to block in the direction I want. So whenever I block it's pretty much in a random direction hoping it's the right one. I play warband by the way I don't have Napoleonic Wars
[editline]21st June 2012[/editline]
Also what is this "Holy Spear" of which you speak of?

The standard spear. Its amazing in 2 Hander Duels. As with blocking its about practice and memorizing what each attack looks like, as well as not taking huge hats, and most importantly doing it in third person.
Thrusting polearms in general are basically just broken; incredibly easy to exploit their bizarre mechanics.
The one crucial element of polearms that isn't represented is the frigging point of the weapon. Polearms basically work as if they are covered to from tip to base in razor wire, you can "hit" somebody with the shaft of the spear and it will still deliver the damage of the tip. Likewise you can just nick somebody with the very tip of the spear and it'll deliver a huge volume of damage, even if it doesn't actually stab into them. It's really annoying in Napoleonic Wars because 90% of the melee weapons are polearms and to top it off they do an enormous volume of damage, so you have to do crazy speed bonus exploits all the time and do corkscrew attacks on people.
What the hell is this even?

How is that possible? It makes no sense but it's utterly crucial unless you like getting a 1:30 k/d ratio.
Even though the bayonet combat in Napoleonic Wars is a bit broken and needs to be fixed for all other CC weapons to be viable, I still find it god damn hillarious because people don't take it very seriously.
Stuff like hitting horses with rockets and beating people to death with birch branches is hillarious when somebody is chasing you around with a bayonet to bagpipe music and people yelling commands in german.

and now everyone have their hands up
I really enjoy reg trainings w/ laughs and not a really serious atmosphere. Linebattles? Not so much. First part of a linebatte is a random number generator that kicks your friends out. Next part is a laggy, broken, luck-based impalement simulator. And then it's "running around a huge map looking for that last dude"

Groupfighting is pretty cool because it actually requires more than spinning. 5vs5 players, two groups. Not only your skill matters, but also tactics and stuff. But for this I choose Vikingr, not napoleonic warfare.
Ctrl F doesn't work on facepunch for me for some reason and I didn't know FP had a subscription thing
How much honour counts as high honour in Warband? High enough that I'll get my free +50 to relations that I've been told about. I've found that just doing quests for villages doesn't even raise it which sucks donkey balls

10 honor = 1 relation with the honorable lords
[editline]21st June 2012[/editline]
refuse to accept compensation when the villages offer
I just somehow accidentally attacked a caravan from my own faction putting relations with the king into the negative...
I somehow have a negative relation with a castle and all I've ever done there is win a tournament? What might the problem be?

Try out Freelancer,It comes with Diplomacy and can make you join A lord's army as a normal footsoldier, and get promoted aswell
Nord Invasion is a fun mod
So I was playing on a siege server and I built a nice barricade system to the breached wall so we would be protected storming it, then you get some dick head who destroys it all just so he can get passed. Its so frustrating and I killed the last two people who I caught doing it, then I got banned from the server. The barricades weren't blocking anything either, they were positioned up the hill so we couldn't get sniped.

Should probably have just contacted an admin instead of teamkilling.
I'm with a pretty good regiment in NW. They don't like trolls or useless people, but if you get on their good side they will become pretty lenient when it comes to what you can/can't say.
