I must be a strange child. I don't care for fantasy mods but I get enormous spergy boners over the realism ones.
Are there any graphical mods for warband? Better blood, haircuts that aren't ugly as sin, so forth...
I really want there to be more fantasy mods. I've had enough with "realistic" mods.
There's Clash of Kings, the one based on the Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones universe, the overhauled 0.5 version was just released.
I have a wounded count as a prisoner. why can't i sell his ass?
I have a wounded count as a prisoner. why can't i sell his ass?
You will get an offer some day. If you decline it, you might get a better offer some time later, or he will manage to escape. As far as I know, the chances of him escaping rise with each offer you turn down.
I have a wounded count as a prisoner. why can't i sell his ass?
Notable individuals have to be ransomed, they can't be slave traded. Your best bet is to stick him in a dungeon and wait until you get an offer. Unless you ended up like me and just wanted every one of those fuckers out of the way, so you dumped them all in your dungeons and ignored the ransom offers.

so, what, do i just go to a prison guard and turn him in, or do i have to own my own dungeon first?
You have to have your own fief.
You have to have your own fief.
So I have to cart limpy mc-shitstain around with me til I get a fiefdom?
So I have to cart limpy mc-shitstain around with me til I get a fiefdom?
Or 'till you get an offer. It's best to just let him go at the first offer, since chances are he'll escape and you won't get anything. As soon as you get a fief you can capture all the lords and place them there. Imagine having like 3/4 vassals of an enemy faction in your dungeon, heh.

Just hoarde all the enemy nobles in your fortified dungeon and pillage/capture without resistance.
I've been working on an elder scrolls mod for a bit now, making armors and textures and creating the factions and troops. Trying to get my programmer friend on board so I can make some serious progress, but he's being a sloth about it :[ Here's some old-ass images http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1179663&p=37282924&viewfull=1#post37282924
Are you planning on adding beast-races as playable characters? You should set it during the fall of the Empire in the early 4th era. That way, you'd have the Argonians fighting the Dunmer, and the Second Aldmeri Dominion could be a faction.
Does anyone know a mod where your army actually can look like a proper army? Not like native where your army is made of mercenaries and soldiers with 100 kinds of armors on them.
Does anyone know a mod where your army actually can look like a proper army? Not like native where your army is made of mercenaries and soldiers with 100 kinds of armors on them.
If you go for only recruiting in villages (in one nation), or only recruiting one type in one nations villages, your army can look pretty army-like. Just like the other nobles' armies. But if you just ride all over the map, recruiting volunteers and mercenaries everywhere you go, of course your army is going to look like a LARPing session!
Does anyone know a mod where your army actually can look like a proper army? Not like native where your army is made of mercenaries and soldiers with 100 kinds of armors on them.
Well it is accurate. Medieval armies primarily used two systems for recruitment, and both relied on the militia gathering their own equipment. Knights were the only full time service troops. Most armies were raised from villages who usually had a pledge to go to war under a noble (because, back then, it was considered the noble's land and thus the villagers were living on the noble's territory) who basically told them to buy their own shit and show up with some kind of weapon and armor. England, however, used the system currently in Mount and Blade in which they went around and paid some troops meager amounts for 2 years of service. Some of that money was intended to go to the weapons and armor, and it made it easier for them to have a full time offensive army instead of a temporary militia. Still, I enjoy uniform armies. But uniform armies didn't come until after the idea of a "standing army" was adopted in the Renaissance. Uniform armies started in the late 1600s where certain divisions were issued outfits and armor by the state. Later, entire armies were given standard issue equipment in the early 1700s. I do wish there was a way to choose what your army wore though, and of course a way to recruit troops so they look similar. The Aldmeri Dominion don't make good villains as they are massive and blatantly evil, so nobody in their right mind would play as them. Plus Morrowind was covered in ash during the 4th Age, making that part of the map less interesting to fight on. Plus, there are more factions in the 3rd Age (Instead of Empire, Black Marsh, Morrowind, and Aldmeri Dominion you would have Hammerfell, Skyrim, Empire, Elswyr, Valenwood, Black Marsh, AND High Rock plus the Summerset Isles, which would be amazing.)
Are you planning on adding beast-races as playable characters?
It's hard to say at this point, races will just be placeholders at the start. Worst comes to worse I'll just do arena/daggerfall style beast races (more humanoid looking) since those won't be too hard. Sticking with 3E though since all the nobility and lore is well documented. 4E is pretty sketchy since Bethesda sort of dropped the ball as far as writing goes.
The game of thrones mod is pretty cool, but it needs some new music and stuff, still nice for a beta. It's built on Floris as a foundation, so it has ships, economy, land ownership, etc.
Only thing I wish for as far as raising armies goes, is that the recruits you get from a town are always native to the kingdom owning the town. It doesn't feel like you've assimilated a populace properly if you have to go back to your original territory to get some proper troops.
I don't see why a culture would change the very second an enemy noble takes a town. That sort of process takes like hundreds of years normally. See: Norman invasion of England
Calradia would probably be among the smallest and the most unrealistically diverse countries if it was real. Edit: is it possible to "speed up" the time on the worldmap but not the gameplay. Like make daytimes and dates progress faster but your party still moves at the same speed as it would normally, it would give more of a illusion that calradia is the size of a kingdom.

Of course, at that point there probably wouldn't be much reason to keep playing that game. But still.
Minding my own business when all of a sudden my village of Kwynn gets raided by Count Regas who, it seems, has decided to call himself my arch nemesis, sure, sending assasins after me is forgavable, I mean, I only raided his village in retaliation once, but now he has gone too far. Also the dumbass did it while every nord lord was passing by, so after a few whispers and pointed directions, I got every nord lord to descend on him and kick his ass. He fucked with the wrong Norseman, as I'm now leading a force of 250 Huscarls to repeatadly sack his village and kick him in the face whenever he shows up.

And put him in the dungeon there.

It irks me that I have to march all the way back to my capital to get some real troops and not some dirty mongols or sand monkeys.
How do you play the nords? I usually find myself completely fucked over without cavalry. And as a horse archer I could easily take on about 20 nord infantry (can't remember the specific class) alone.
They have the easiest time on castle attacks due to the strength of their infantry, and AI calvalry is totally crap, the Huscarls can easily stand a charge by Swadian knights, and then will butcher them in their trapped formations. The nord archers aren't great, but back up the huscarls well. They aren't as good at field battles, but will easily hold their own, it will just take a lot longer to kill the enemy due to fewer calvalry on your side.
I find it useful to create a group of archers and have them go off to the side. That way, they avoid the cavalry charge and have a clear line of fire into the enemy infantry without having to fire around their allies. The player character can also distract enemies heading for the archers. While the enemies focus on the player, the archers can shoot them.

The key to norse infantry is having a lot of them and keeping them all together as close as possible. Maybe a few archers to deal with those Horse fuckers..I mean Kherghit.
