Hell fucking no.
You're probably right, a mechanic like that belongs more in a dueling environment than a battle environment.
Rolling? What I wouldn't mind seeing a sidestep dodging mechanic though, as long as there's a significant cooldown or something.
Sidesteps are possible, a combination of dodges and parrying could make for a higher skill ceiling.
Hit detection and weapon speed were already pretty good, swinging a two handed sword while jogging around isn't exactly a quick motion. They definitely need to add some sort of inertia factor though so you can't do 360 attacks, that shit is really annoying and would account for almost all bullshit kills. Major +1 on the weapon styles though. I really loved how dane axes could be used two handed or as a polearm, more weapons need to have options like that.
What I really want to see his a sword bouncing off armour, no game I have seen thus far as implemented weapons actually hitting things but rather just going through them.
If I could only add one new feature, it would be the ability to play campaign in Co-op. Having a friend as one of your companions would be amazing.
better yet, have a friend as a whole new lord/vassal/character, so they could run around or have a full faction just filled up with your friends but for gods sake keep it medieval times i hated with fire/sword because it focused too much on newer age shit also some more fantasy elements would be kinda cool to see
that would be better if it would work properly, but there's no way in hell your idea could work logically
also some more fantasy elements would be kinda cool to see
No
larger armies / battles please also maybe better siege warfare. the whole "everyone crowd around the top of the ladder" mechanic gets a bit stale after awhile :v:
larger armies / battles please also maybe better siege warfare. the whole "everyone crowd around the top of the ladder" mechanic gets a bit stale after awhile :v:
This. I would love to see battering rams or at the very least more than one ladder being used. Most of the time when there's more than one ladder the AI just picks one and almost completely ignores the other
You're probably right, a mechanic like that belongs more in a dueling environment than a battle environment.
It's stupid even in a dueling environment. It would get you instakilled.
Big castles, with multiple Siege towers.
they dont even have to render it, just give us catapults and shit that would lower enemy morale and numbers before a battle.
Hopefully you can have more freedom in designing your character beforehand. Perhaps choosing your background to be of one of the Calradian kingdoms instead of being an outsider, or having a family.
I hope they increase the amount of weapons and armors in the game by a lot, it's alright as it is now but once you get that 10,000 thaler armor, that 6000 thaler shield and your weapons by choice of that price there is little to do except perhaps try to get enough money so you can buy a masterwork weapon in case you would find one.
Is there a mod that adds magic shit to the game? I've always wanted to see 100 wizards shooting fireballs at some bandits.
Is there a mod that adds magic shit to the game? I've always wanted to see 100 wizards shooting fireballs at some bandits.
I do remember a mod involving magic for the original M&B, but I saw it only for like 10 seconds. I have no idea if it's good, how it's called, etc.
I hope they add travelling by sea and boarding ships, no cannons in those days of course so just straight up ramming/bows/boarding.
I hope they add travelling by sea and boarding ships, no cannons in those days of course so just straight up ramming/bows/boarding.
The same guys who made With Fire and Sword are making a new game dubbed Caribbean about pirates in the 17th century which looks like it's going to be more exploratory with naval combat.
I hope they add travelling by sea and boarding ships, no cannons in those days of course so just straight up ramming/bows/boarding.
That's actually a cool idea, you're on the overworld on a ship and a pirate ship attacks you and when you're sent into the combatworld it's just two ships (yours and theirs) next to eachother with boarding boards between them, and you just fight.
I don't know about other mods, but in 1257 you can travel by sea and when you do battle at sea you get decks of the ships alongside each other as your battleground.
The same guys who made With Fire and Sword are making a new game dubbed Caribbean about pirates in the 17th century which looks like it's going to be more exploratory with naval combat.
That looks highly interesting, but just watch; despite being set in a highly interesting time (just like fire and sword) there will be a complete lack of depth to the setting, and absolutely no roleplaying options. If they actually let you play as a member of the gentry and/or let you pick a nationality and background that has an impact on starting skills and equipment then it might actually be pretty good.
I don't know about other mods, but in 1257 you can travel by sea and when you do battle at sea you get decks of the ships alongside each other as your battleground.
Floris have ships too, they only costs 50 000 denars :v:
I do remember a mod involving magic for the original M&B, but I saw it only for like 10 seconds. I have no idea if it's good, how it's called, etc.
I played it, cannot for my life remember the name of it but since I am page king I will search for it. Now I cheated the best staff in the game, but that was pretty OP. I could alone tear down whole armys using fire magic. All other magicians was useless. Here we fucking go: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,52699.0.html Magic World
is there any way to get unlimited or a giant amount of arrows during combat without having to start a new game?
I hope they add travelling by sea and boarding ships, no cannons in those days of course so just straight up ramming/bows/boarding.
First cannons appeared in Europe around 1380, MnB has armour and weapons dating from that period and beyond.
is there any way to get unlimited or a giant amount of arrows during combat without having to start a new game?
Use the chest at your starting position. When you exit the inventory screen, your ammo will be replenished.
I want the new engine to have realistic armor deformation, 10,000 soldiers fighting at once, Crysis level graphics, and quickscoping. Am I asking for too much?
is there any way to get unlimited or a giant amount of arrows during combat without having to start a new game?
use TweakMB and change the ammo amount. [editline]30th September 2012[/editline]
I want the new engine to have realistic armor deformation, 10,000 soldiers fighting at once, Crysis level graphics, and quickscoping. a optimized engine for mass troops would be very fun, smarter A.I, battle tactics, a kind of RTS styled combat system in large battles maybe (the ability to control your troops but fight in 3rd person), more scripts for sieges, siege weapons, ACTUALLY CLIMBING A LADDER INSTEAD OF WALKING UP A LADDER SLOPE, more politics in the campaign, ability to make your own armies with custom gear, technology progressing (introduction of gunpowder in late campaign maybe). Those are all things likely to not be seen though. In other news the WW1 mod for MnB looks cool.
i don't think its possible to optimize an engine for mass troops unless you have about 50 LODs like, for them to look good and to have massive amounts of them would require such amazing optimization, I'm just imagining the very last LOD being a flat plane with the picture of the enemy textured on.
The LODs aren't really that big a deal, it's the AI and hit detection. In games like this you could always make a LOD for the AI itself, so if there's a skirmish going on like 300 meters away from you, the game could just switch to basic hit/no hit calculations depending on the comparative skills of the troops, rather than wasting tonnes of resources calculating each and every hit precisely.
Nothing like blasting Viking metal in your headphones, and charging out of a castle as a Nord to kill 7 guys with an axe before you go down.
Did you just say Extra Invasion? He said "what silly shit?"
Dude, the throwing shit is seperated, there is two invasion now, the crazy farmers (which throws shit at people) and a non-fantasy farmer version. it's all good now. look at some of the latest screen@
