Story time. So I was playing yesterday and I hadn't been since the beta had 10x xp.
Had the level 1 stuff and was playing conquest. The game lasted 30 minutes and I couldn't harm anyone with plate unless they had their visor open so I was just reviving and dying for 30 minutes and getting a decent score regardless.
Turns out, they had the fucking stat and xp servers down and I got nothing for it.
I love the game, but the start of it is just horrendous.
My computer can handle 220 man M&B battles and maintain a decent frame rate, yet It can't even run War of the Roses on an empty server. The only game in recent memory I had this bad lagging issues in was BF3. Even with everything set to low I still get endless stuttering. Fucking terrible optimisation. Wish I had used that money to buy Dishonoured.
To be fair Dishonored's optimisation isn't stellar. I play BF3 on high-mid and dishonored on mid-low.
Could anyone recommend me a singleplayer mod for Warband?

Native Expansion is pretty good. Floris is another one, keeps canon but really changes it up.
Brytenwalda and 1257AD are great if you're into history.

Prophecy of Pendor is good if you want a hint of fantasy with some new lands, but it can be pretty hard to start off at
otherwise get Floris Mod Pack if you want a better version of vanilla
If you need a giant map to conquer forever and some economy management with larger-than-normal armies, try Sword of Damocles.
I tried With Fire and Sword today.
I now know why people dislike it.
I like it okay. There's just a lot of things wrong with it.

There's a few small improvements over warband, but for everything it adds it detracts so much more.
The underlying mechanics are pretty decent, it's just what they built on top of it wasn't so great.
I like it mainly for the custom battles.

I only played the demo for Warband. Went from M&B to WFaS. So there's a bigger jump in features for me.
The main issue I had with Fire and Sword was the early game. I had to make money off of caravans and shit instead of buying land and letting that pay for my army steadily. I never really got a chance to settle down and train up some elite troops to take a city for myself. The recruitment was also a bit odd in my opinion.
Also, does anybody have a good single-player Warband mod that includes guns? I've seen a WW2 mod, but I really don't think it would play well, so I haven't downloaded it.
what era of guns
"guns" is a very broad term

15 inch battleship guns.
Honestly, WFaS is a pain to start even if you edit your character for shit loads of money and Charisma/Leadership. The peasants are trash, and the mercs are expensive and have to have more money sunk into them for them to be worth anything. The problems that WFaS have seem be pretty much entirely balancing issues. Money, recruits, etc.. Also guns are ridiculously strong. Like I know, it's a gun. Back then especially, if you get shot you're probably dead. But Jesus fucking shit, give me a chance. It's a game for a reason.

Really any era. You can't be picky when asking for good Warband mods. :v:
FUCK WOTR
the game is so fucking unplayable
seriously you cant have ONE FUCKING MATCH without the entire other team being clad in full platemail with the scottish sword
completely kills the fun in the entire game
Funny thing was that now the Scottish claymore is even more op than it was during beta.
It can almost instantly recharge another attach as if it's a fucking dagger.

I'm trying to get into modding W&B Warband, and I was wondering, did you use a heightmap for Tamriel, or was it all painter by hand in the editor?

I just finished installing this and goddamn it's good! Thanks a lot for showing me this!

A bit of both. Started with a user-made heightmap, but had to modify it to a high threshold form so I could get flat oceans.
Had to go over it by hand afterwards to paint the textures and add in rivers.

I undertook a broken quest that allowed my wife to go into battle with me.
