That's what I have at the minute. Generally still looking for new weaponry. Funny thing is I got one of those "nest of bees" ming rocket projectors from rocketeer(elites), and I have that + cannon ammo + double barreled dagon + bullets. But when I fire my shotgun now, it shoots explosive ammo, so yeah. Got a bunch of rocketeers, too. I guess I'm going to look into sieging back some of those darkness castles, but they're not too much of a problem yet. I still feel safe.
I don't think stuff like Rocketeers and the Dagon are in casual mode, so Ill have to try out normal/mommy when I get the chance.
Forgot to post this.

You know you're thoroughly victorious when it looks like you've walked away from a ketchup factory explosion

I have blood and steel 1.0 and it's not that bad. Unfortunately Mommy mode is supposed to have these two vaugley morality-aligned armies that fight after a month or so, one that you have to basically butcher every village in the game to join, and another that is your friend by default. Except that instead of actually working, they only fight lords, and constantly start conversations with you on either side, making sieges incredibly difficult without very high engineering.
That said, their units are good and for some reason, cheaper than elite mercenaries or elite faction troops.
So basically Blood and Steel really shines in the early game. About 30 days into your game, it gets really dumb, at least for me. Not that I don't have fun being nigh-unstoppable as a barbarian with max everything and great armor.

Also turning the absolutely retarded female mercenaries off helps.
Once you get the Aleph and a company of Rocketeers, Matchlock Men, and Rhulg Destroyers you can pretty much annihilate every living thing in this game.
Wow I invested several dozen hours into the 1257 mod so far and I just found that you're able to upgrade your manor and shit.
I had like 550k sitting in my treasury. And here I was, farming tournaments all this time, goddamn.
I made a character named Ray Charles and stumbled around until I got to the piano, then played it for the rest of the match. At one point some enemy soldiers walked in to the room, clapped and then left without killing me.

You can also build a castle as well, if you go to your village > manage village > build a manor, you can wait until the manor is finished building, then the "manage village" menu will let you pay 60,000 denars to build a castle next to the village.
Blood and steel is an amazing mod. Especially if we're talking about recreating the scene of a WW1 no-man's land.

So what's the deal with the [sp]city of light? How do I get in? Or rather, how do I DO ANYTHING there? It's empty.[/sp]
The mod creator said it is unfinished. It serves no purpose right now other than being a spawnpoint for the army.

probably not.
I used to love B&S (I was that guy that kept rambling about how great it was ages and ages ago) but I tried it just now and.. well, it was pretty shit to be honest.
I chose Barbarian, as it was by far and large my favourite class in the old versions I played. The first thing I noticed is that I moved like I was on mega steroids. Even after I had slaughtered my first 46 man looter party without even a chink in my health bar (whilst stark naked) and put on some goddamn armour, I wasn't any slower. I tried to travel to a nearby city, and I slaughtered in the region of 300 bandits in 30 minutes. I tried to sell the bazillion prisoners but the option to sell to the black market via tavern owners has been removed.
After 30 minutes I had had enough. roughly 250 hours of my M&BW playtime was spent on B&S, and It was my favourite mod of all time, and somehow Xenoargh managed to fuck it up. Its a easy gimmicky piece of shit right now. He screwed it up in almost every conceivable way. 554 man caravan parties? why?, for crying out loud, thats just asking for a 30 minutes to 1 hour fuckfest that won't be any more difficult than it was back when the biggest caravan parties were roughly 60 men. As I hear, Lords also get a shit ton of men. You had to have the patience of a god to endure 3000vs3000 battles back in the version I played, which took so long I would literally just leave the game running after I died and go do something else. 3000vs3000 is the limit of my patience, If Lord parties are anything like 500 men and I see a classic 10vs10 lord battle, that will be a 10,000 man battle, and I'd rather watch water evaporate than wait for a battle like that to end.
At least this was funny.

No it hasn't. You have no trade skill. Ergo you have no ability to bargain. At all. Hire a companion, load them up with CHA

Would have been nice if it had told me that instead of flashing gibberish. I also can't see the point of it short of it being an inconvenience.
Also would have been nice if there had been any list of changes or new features I could have read, but theres none.

You CHOSE barbarian. It mentioned your complete lack of utility skills.

It seemed as though it was hardly changed from the last time I played, so I didn't read it in depth. I then looked at the feature toggle menu that followed it to find that it had not been updated to explain what the hell Dodge and some of the other new stuff was, although its pretty obvious what the former does.
Barbarian also gives you level 65 on starting Agility and Strength.
Quality...
Blood and Steel didn't JUST get gimmicky, it's always been gimmicky and retarded.
Xeno implemeted this, so the battles wouldn't drag on. Do you have the latest patch?
1. Sieges no longer require massive battles over and over again.
What I've decided to do is:
A. Battle size is proportional to relative army sizes, adjusted for difficulty setting (i.e., you won't get a lot of troops on Mommy). This part is done.
B. If you win vs. massive numbers, you do proportionate casualties. I.E., you'll fight at great odds, but if you win, the battle's representative of the larger battle; if you go up against 1000+ enemies, you may have to fight 200 vs. 50 in Mommy, but if you win, you'll inflict many times 200 casualties. How many? IDK yet, I'm still balancing all that out. Something on the order of 2-5X, though, so that huge battles aren't a total drag to play out.
C. I probably won't touch the inner siege battle conditions, i.e., the final battles, simply because that gives both players and the AI a pretty good shot to win as defenders as things stand and I think that's appropriate.

I checked to see if B&S had any redeeming qualities left- I started a new Merchant character.
I walked into Dhirim's tavern to hire some mercanaries. I found this:
[img_thumb]http://puu.sh/1K6Ty[/img_thumb]
I also picked up some swordsmen from a nearby village. I start a battle with a 40 man looter party and notice something isn't right with the swordsmen. I'm also aggravated that the world has this annoying grey tint to it thats making me feel like I'm playing it in DX7.
[img_thumb]http://puu.sh/1K6SX[/img_thumb]
I build up my army some more and engage a 100 man looter party to create more of a slaughter.

This is the same error that frequently pissed me off in B&S 1.1-1.2 iirc, when after huge battles I would start the second round only to see that.
[sp]Apparently its a universal error of M&B but for whatever reason I've only really suffered it from B&S in past experience.[/sp]
Now the search for an old version of B&S begins, I guess.
I get the runtime error in 1257 alot and it really grinds my gears
It mostly happens if I enter my manor or if I'm knocked out during a battle/siege

I casually strolled into the enemy base while the defenders were busy reloading and sat down and played piano. To my surprise, a few people stood around and watched, but no one killed me.

You have to spin on your chair in time with the music.
What's an easy way to make money in AD1257? I'm using some Mercs since I'm trying the Lance Recruitment option to try and make my game the most authentic but fuck I'm running low on cash.
I usually just grind tournaments.
Grinding tournaments is the easy way to go. If you're lucky you can catch 2 tournaments going on immediately after eachother and reap in more cash that way.
Image time? Okay.
