It's funny looking back and seeing the old graphics.
I still play on dx7 (max settings), as that way I get acceptable FPS when in battles of over 400 troops.
Don't dx7 max settings still look shite in comparison to dx9 on lower settings?
Wait, having horses in your inventory makes you move faster on the map? Since when? Why haven't I ever heard anything about this before now? :ohdear:
It doesn't move you faster, but it negates the speed penalty for carrying heavy items. It's only really useful if you're playing as a merchant or have a shitload of really heavy food.
Hey there, fellow knights, may I ask if there are any decent Warband mods with Knights Templar units?
Don't dx7 max settings still look shite in comparison to dx9 on lower settings?
Not exactly shite, it just lacks stuff like reflections and generally looks like M&B did before .9xx
Textures are mostly same level, too. And it runs better than dx9.

Your best bet is searching the Caravanserai on the Taleworlds forums.

Hey guys, this thread made me get Warband and im about to start my first game at 102% difficulty.
Are there any tips I should know so I dont immediately die in my first battle?
Mod name pls.
The Eagle and the Radiant Cross Ch. 3
Best Warband mod. It was doing muskets before With Fire and Sword was even announced, and still does it better.

Try not to get hit by anything.
Fire and Sword just updated for me, no patch notes just yet.
Will any polearm do that thing where you go fast on a horse and he holds it forward to stab people? Or is that just lances?

Just lances.

Don't play at that difficulty. There is a lot of stuff (couched lances, dudes with crossbows) that can one-shot you if you don't know about them, and that's really not fun. I recommend at least turning down the self damage.
Yeah, setting self damage lower is justified by the poor mob AI.
The 1866 mod is awesome if you don't have it. Adds a ton of stuff and the guns work really well and I was surprised at how balanced it is.
It's good enough to be a paid expansion/spinoff/whatever

What are couched lances, any way?
What are couched lances, any way?
You must be on a horse, get enough speed, press X. Anything that comes in the way of a couched lance is killed instantly

Thanks, always took damage from them, but I never knew how to use em.

I nominate Vaegirs for the most useless faction of the year
What are couched lances, any way?
Basically an attack with a super high speed-damage multiplier. Best way to avoid them is staying in cover or on a hill so they don't have enough speed to take you out in one go. Watch out, they can one-shot you even on 1/4 damage!
You must be on a horse, get enough speed, press X. Anything that comes in the way of a couched lance is killed instantly
You don't need to press X in Warband though, quite sure of that.
Dunno about the new one.
Uh, it's exactly in warband where you have to press it
You didn't have to do it in the original m&b

Man i remember wrong in that case.
Disregard post, call me an idiot etc etc
I don't understand, if I'm in the battle, even if I do nothing, I usually win by a lot, but when I make my army fight without me, we get slaughtered.

Im playing warband and don't have to press it.
At least i don't have to do in tournaments. Never used a lance outside of tournaments.
And I suck dick with lances.

It's a toggleable option I think.

Yeah it's an option.
Here's a question of my own: do the lords of cities ever change? I'm playing as a female merchant type (which is ludicrously lucrative by the way) and I'd like to try to marry into power, preferably someplace like Praven or Dhirim. However, all the lords of cities are already married. Will someone else ever rule over them so I can try with them instead?
