Yeah it's an option. Here's a question of my own: do the lords of cities ever change? I'm playing as a female merchant type (which is ludicrously lucrative by the way) and I'd like to try to marry into power, preferably someplace like Praven or Dhirim. However, all the lords of cities are already married. Will someone else ever rule over them so I can try with them instead?
They can get convicted for treason during war I think, or someone might take over the place. That's all I know of, really.
And I suck dick with lances.
Same, I find it difficult knowing when to release the lance at the right time to strike kills. That's why I prefer using a sword instead, much more easier to use on horse back.
Lances are big hitters but you'll only be killing enemies every 8 seconds or so, and if you're chasing or being chased then your lance is useless
Lances are big hitters but you'll only be killing enemies every 8 seconds or so, and if you're chasing or being chased then your lance is useless
You know you don't have to couch your lance. You can also do pierce damage stabbing.
I'll be playing as a Rhodok crossbowman. Wish me luck :v:
I love this game so much, I just got done playing multiplayer and having a ball on horseback. Thank you guys for this thread.
The 1866 mod is awesome if you don't have it. Adds a ton of stuff and the guns work really well and I was surprised at how balanced it is. It's good enough to be a paid expansion/spinoff/whatever
Link? [editline]10th May 2011[/editline]
You must be on a horse, get enough speed, press X. Anything that comes in the way of a couched lance is killed instantly
You don't have to press anything. If your lance can be couched, it will be couched once you're going fast enough. Also, Zezibesh, what kind of wizard tactics were you using to slaughter the Vaegirs?
Also, Zezibesh, what kind of wizard tactics were you using to slaughter the Vaegirs?
The ancient magical tradition of "train your troops before combat". All my Nords are at least Warriors, all my Sarranids are at least horsemen. It takes a shitload of time, but you don't lose almost any troops while training and later on your casualties are negligible. [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] All Vaegirs have shitty armor so one mamluke charge usually breaks their ranks and kills one third of their troops, and after that it's just chasing routed enemies.
I wish this game didn't have such shitty group AI and tried harder to make you feel like a badass e.g Cleave damage.
So I signed on as a mercenary and am supposed to report to a Jarl who is "in the field near Sargoth", but he isn't anywhere to be seen and I only have a day left before I fail this. How the hell do you locate people in this
Yeah it's pretty terrible without good skills trying to find someone who is on the move [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] Are you sure the Jarl even is there anymore? He could have moved while you were coming there. Ask someone if they know his current location.

The usual "hey where is this dude" option isn't there [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] The job is to meet up with him to attack a castle so would he likely be heading towards it?
It should be like talk to lord I have a question for you I wish to know the location of someone jarl x
man, fuck native. I'm going back to TEATRC so I can shoot people with my guns.
WHY IS THE MORALE SYSTEM SO RETARDED -39 AND -49 FOR VAEGIR AND SWADIAN TROOPS, RESPECTIVELY BUT I DON'T EVEN HAVE EITHER ONES IN MY PARTY OR CASTLES WHY THE FUCK AM I STILL LOSING MORALE OVER IT AND WHY THE FUCK DOES ARMY SIZE REMOVE MORALE? HAVING MORE DUDES ON YOUR SIDE SHOULD BOOST IT, FUCK [img_thumb]a[/img_thumb]
It simulates having to be good at micromanaging and not just letting them become a horde when they get too large. You'd have food shortages, squalor, fights etc the bigger it gets.
-39 AND -49 FOR VAEGIR AND SWADIAN TROOPS, RESPECTIVELY BUT I DON'T EVEN HAVE EITHER ONES IN MY PARTY OR CASTLES WHY THE FUCK AM I STILL LOSING MORALE OVER IT
You're not. That's just a tracker that will tell you how much each of those troops lose IF you ever have them in your party. It doesn't affect your overall party morale, it's just those specific troops because you're at war with their factions.
But I don't have food shortages, there's a separate morale counter for that And if there's no way of preventing shit like that then it's a terrible system how about being able to execute anyone who fights that should set them straight fuck why do you idiots want more pork the last one rotted away when you didn't eat it jesus christ get your shit straight I want to take over this shitty town but nooooo you'd rather just fucking run away and get hunted down as deserters do you think I'm fucking forgiving god fuck no I am not if you escape and I see a party of deserters on the world map I will either kill you or sell you to slavery you god damn jesus fuck piss cunt asshole plebeian mongoloid odiferous octupus ooze three week old roadkill vulture vomit snail snot incompetent stagnant pond scum licker slubberdegullion politician carpet salesman Patagonian troglodyte Visigoth anthropophagus crying and whining children why the fuck did you join my army
It's really easy to keep a huge army btw, just loot one or two villages and keep all the food. You now have +99 to morale. Alternatively just keep winning battles. The extra morale from 'recent events' will cancel out the party size modifier. I have no problem with armies of up to 150.
Ugh, I'm going to need at least one more prosperous fief if I'm gonna have a party larger than 50.
Yeah I'm at around 230, I haven't lost a battle in ages, and I have plenty of non-rotted high morale bonus food. These idiots keep running away. Also I don't loot villages, I'm too honorable for that. [editline]11th May 2011[/editline]
Ugh, I'm going to need at least one more prosperous fief if I'm gonna have a party larger than 50.
Start enterprises, seriously. I have one in every major non-hostile city already. [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] Oh wow, this time the Vaegirs really put up a fight. Lost about 60 troops, and 40 wounded. That's a bit over half of my army total. Then again it was their last town.
Got my ass handed to me by some farmers life is good
Prophesy of Pendor crashes like every 10 minutes. It sucks because this is an awesome mod. :(
Prophesy of Pendor crashes like every 10 minutes. It sucks because this is an awesome mod. :(
Same for me. I just went back to vanilla. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/795329/Pictures/me/screnshot/FRAPS/mb_warband%202011-05-11%2014-07-16-46.png[/img_thumb] Almost bit more than I could chew, I think I'll just recline in my nice and clean city for a while and then go gather more troops. [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] Heh, once again the game reaffirms my love for the Nords. I had been training some archers for castle defense, when I got attacked by two lords from Swadia. Most of my mamlukes were still wounded and I had maybe 10 ready to fight, so while they managed to kill the few Swadian cavalry, they were overwhelmed by the thick mass of infantry. The archers took out most of the low-tier infantry on approach, but were still outnumbered 30-50 when the infantry reached the cliff the archers were firing from. I had no choice but to let them die in close combat, and hope I could take out the rest of the infantry (my horse was dead by this point). But when I had ordered the charge, I had forgotten that Nord archers have great melee weapons and armor, and to my surprise they defeated the cheap Swadian infantry although they were outnumbered. From this day on, I'll know that even an archer charge can be pretty damn effective when playing as Nords.
Dude, how do you take on that many people? I get rocked by 10 farmers.
I pretty much have well trained troops, that's all. Heavy cavalry like mamlukes absolutely devastates the shitty infantry lords usually carry when fighting on open ground. Take care not to let my horse die, so I don't get swarmed by infantry.
Nords are completely balls out badasses, get some huscarls and nothing will stand in your way, even the crazy ones with 2handed axes and no shield fuck shit up in sieges. Nords are the manliest thing to ever exist in Calradia.
Huscarls take forever to train, however. But they're great an sieges due to a large shield, throwing projectiles, good armor and high damage. Has anyone else played the M&B games so much, that they have pretty much become a master at a certain weapon? I personally know JUST the right amount I need to tilt the camera upwards when swinging a bastard sword, that I hit enemy troops in the head and kill them in one hit.
That's not really very hard. Manual blocking in multiplayer is. Knowing your swing speed and weapon length is essential to kill someone. Because they do know how to get the tip of their 2 hander to scratch your nose and instantly kill you.
