That's because it's based on the original M&B engine, and was ported to Warband engine.

I can't ever get enough units it seems (to fill my towns and stuff, there's always some siege that wipes some out just as I get a good amount of dudes)

I keep getting ripped in tournaments, usually I get to the second to last round and they give me a bow against either horse archers or sword and board guys on horseback. Then I get eliminated and everything I did before goes down the drain.

I'm trying to create my own faction but I can't hold on to my first territory for shit because it just gets raided by a war party 5 minutes later and I obviously have no lords, is there any way to make my faction stronger quickly or something? I tried to make a faction out of a dying faction but that didn't work because the final territory is full of like 10 lords

Don't cling to a single castle/town. Take as many as you can and assign them to companions so they manage the troops (free troops and armies). You can still take one for yourself and many of the villages.

You can also up the recruitment costs or buff enemy unit count to compensate if you wish. They won't be able to take out a castle with 200+ archers in it unless every lord in the realm gangs up on you. Before this, start ironworks in Curaw or dyeworks in other big cities until you have like 10, then you'll keep making ~5-7k per week just from those without any input. Fiefs should provide the rest. [editline]12th May 2011[/editline] Also, the way I win tournaments (and the hearts of ladies) is via playing dirty. Horse dude charging at you? Take out his horse. Some melee guys bunching up on each other? Either wait out until there's a winner and then take the weakened dude out yourself, or go slash them in the back while they fight each other. Remember, you can always pick up shields and stuff if you need to. So while waiting for Fire&Steel to be updated enough tho where it doesn't suck, I'm playing warband again, I'm downloading blood&steel as that seems to be the most popular SP mod, thoughts?

How can I make it so that I can make a hero vassal come back to my party?

I tried that fix posted earlier but pop still says i am out of memory when trying to create the shaders. Sucks, because i always turn shaders off if possible.

I'm guessing this isn't available in Fire and Sword.

I didn't even know that was possible. But that's now how i roll anyway. I like to drag them behind my carts.

Wow I just realized you can change your character's name at any time, this is gonna be useful. Gonna add "Imperial Lord Commander Emperor Popeking" as a prefix when I start my own nation.
