Yeah, it's usually best to ride around to the back and pick off archers/crossbowmen.
So, right now, when I enter a battle, I position my marksmen, set my infantry to charge not too far away from the marksmen, set my cavalry to flank them, and then I ride around the battlefield shooting/slashing random easy targets while everyones troops spread out and fight.
Sometimes someone gets my horse, and I am immediately swarmed. Or I find another horse and keep killing.
What do you guys do?
i let my men do whatever they want and go off by myself, picking off random troops
its alot harder in fire and sword though, 30 muskets aiming at you

I just tell my cavalry to follow me and I flank the enemy while my infantry takes them head-on with my archers behind the infantry supporting them.
so I didn't know I got Reyvadin as a reward for something, so I finally notice I own it since I decided to pay attention to that wages screen, I notice I have it and realize I'd never put a garrison there. I decided to go and drop off some of the 70+ archer units I had there. When I got there....

WELL NEVER MIND THEN I'LL BE ON MY WAY NOW.
I don't really like the companions, all they do is bitch.
I don't really like the companions, all they do is bitch.
I recall there being some women companion I was planning on letting join my party yesterday, until she mentioned being a pacifist and I was like haha no, and told her to fuck off.

One of my companions thinks the other is a vampire.
I've only got a few, they all like each other, lezalit and Artimenner or whatever his name is are my favorites.
I only use companions as skill whores so my troops don't die, and I walk faster on the map screen.

Lezalit, Firentis, and Jeremus are amazing.
Especially Jeremus since he has like 16 intelligence at level 1.
Man, I use a two-handed katana on horseback and a one handed sword and shield on foot but mounted combat is so much more fun.
Shame that I'm awful at archery.
Anyone else think the most fun yet frustrating enemies to fight are the Rhodoks?
My favorite companion is Ymira, she starts out at level 1 with only a few skills in wound treatment and first aid and barely any weapon skills but this means you can level her up however you want which is pretty nice.
I haven't got many companions. Just before I quit the other day I got two companions that didn't seem very special.
I'd love a companion that is a good engineer, and one that has wound treatment. Maybe trade too.
So far my character is a mix of a leader/trader and a swordsman. Works out quite well, as I've made nearly 20k during my first war after becoming a vassal due to my slaughtering the Rhodok's and capturing their king.
Anyone else find it funny when you capture a king yet they comment more on a lowly lord you've capture more recently? Took nearly 2 hours for them to want their king back.

So much strategy. I'll look more into it later, but as of now I only have 60 or so troops, and I set them to follow me if I have allies or charge if I don't.
Works well, sure I'm on easy, but I haven't lost many battles.
I hate companions.
All i need is my troops :v:
In Blood and Steel Deshavi fucking owns with the bow. It's fucking annoying though that every time I talk to a lord he asks if I can lend Deshavi to him for a couple of days.
1755 is a kickass mod.

The Rhodoks are most fun to use on your side, but annoying and easy to fight.
I keep getting my ass kicked in singleplayer so I use cheats and now I am kicking ass.

:colbert:
Also, I'm in this space where I have tons of money, good gear, but my party is too small/ungodly to do stuff like siege castles and too slow to chase down raiders. What do?
Ditch your inexperienced troops. Make a highly skilled party, then get some normal troops, then go attack castles.

She's constantly bitching about my hobbies, for example - village plundering.
One of my party members walks around camp at night and one time stood over another companion of mine and stared at him while he was sleeping. :pervert: (It woke the bloke up and he complained to me about it)
I have 6 nords in my party.
I plan to make each and every one of them a Huscal and continue life as a trader.
If you use only infantry, you'll get raped by steppe bandits
I may actually be short on infantry. I was too focused on picking up cheap crossbowmen and cavalry. Ah well, I'll just keep hiring and training every farmer and peasant woman I rescue. Mercs fo lyfe~

Seriously, my party gains 500-800XP per day due to training. If I could have a larger party, I could have tier 2-3 level dudes really fast.
I actually quite like the bits of monologue you get from companions. Although I have Firentis and Jeremus, and they're ganging up on me about how bad violence is.
Also I signed up with the Rhodoks and now I'm the lord of Reveran. Are the upgrades a good idea, and is having engineer significant to reduce cost/time?
What should I do for cavalry, by the way? The Rhodoks don't have any in their soldier tree so for the moment my only horses are me and my companions.
So i have money for an enterprise, which one would you suggest i take.

Heh. Swadia declared war instantly after I eradicated the Rhodoks.
I hate when in tournaments I get Xerina knocked unconscious in at least 3 different battles and yet I still face her in the finals where I get a bow and she gets a horse with a lance
