I must say, F&S is really great for me. I like how they've changed some features, and I think it's very fitting that there are not tournaments and you can't marry into families and stuff like that. This isn't the medieval times.
The storylines are great. I am currently doing the Tsar story line, and I think this is the most adventurous game of Mount and Blade I have ever had. I am also really fond of the new features, like the town square (or whatever), where you can deposit money, take a loan and buy handcrafted gear. The fact that fortresses now also can be a lot like towns with marketplaces and taverns and stuff like that is spot on, as well as the fact that your troopers don't automatically get better equipped when they level up. You have to go buy them some better equipment.
Overall, I think it's an excellent game.
It's more of a 1500 eastern europe war simulator but yeah, I like it too because it's more of a civilized game, instead of just recruiting, training and sieging you can bank, trade (with caravans) and do espionage missions (not sure if they exist in warband though)
But they didn't remove the recruit from villages, you can still but you must be a vassal of a kingdom and they can only become militas which are practically only eating your food.

I think they just didn't implement those features and they were fortunate that they set it in that time
I take it that Mount and Musket is a mod?

Yes, A brilliant one too.
Wagon forts suck so much, unlike castles the infantry don't know where they're meant to stand to take advantage of the defenses

Unless you're fighting a force that has muskets. In that case, every goddamn time I've fought one, they've shot me perfectly
Game doesn't seem all that challenging anymore when you get a 70k profit from the caravan trades.
I was really lucky today, I got in 2 big battles (300+ troops on every side) and I got 2 masterwork muskets. They are amazing
I started playing warband on friday.
The game is a friggin blast, but it gets a little dull when all I can do is be the kings errand boy and chase down bandits.
Any input on what I should do in order to work my way up to big battles and seiges?

Get reputation with lords of the faction you want to join and eventually join them

I've already got like, +12 rep with King Ragnar.
How friendly will I need to get with the king before he will let me become a vassal?
I think rep, nation rep and renown all need to add up to 160 or something, but they will probably offer to you instead before that if you join them as a mercenary general, which you should get soon
Sweet.
Can't wait to start a crusade and kick some Sarranid ass.
The entire game is like rock paper scissors, every faction is weak to 2 other factions, nords are weak to sarranids

Oh great. We just declared war on them
Train a rhodok army pronto

Can you giive me the whole Strengths and Weakness lists of the factions?
Can you giive me the whole Strengths and Weakness lists of the factions?
Nords - Superior melee shielded infantry, no cavalry and limited archers - weak vs cavalry
Swadians - Starts as the strongest faction but in a central location, strong infantry and cavalry, limited crossbowmen - No extreme weaknesses
Vaegirs - Weak infantry with little armour, mixed cavalry and strong archers (generally people find vaegirs to be the worst faction) - Generally quite weak
Rhodoks - Spear infantry makes them the best army vs cavalry armies, all infantry have shields which cover their entire bodies so they resist arrows, superior crossbow marksmen - Weak vs infantry
Sarranids - Superior horseman mamalukes and good fast archers - Weak vs infantry armies that contain spears
Khergits - All units are mounted, good lancers, if the initial charge crushes the enemy formation then the rest of the army is quite easily run down, lightly armoured and fast, contains horse archers - Weak against armoured armies
Sarranids are weak as fuck vs. Archers. I literally did a siege on a castle on Normal difficulty and they only took out a few of my men, we were all archers. It was siege tower and they were all dead by the time we reached the castle walks except for a few infantry who were easily taken down.
ALSO
What do you do if your siege tower gets stuck, earlier mine got stuck right before the bridge set down.
On a different note, Archery is so much fun, I love being able to do 390 damage with a headshot. I've always like the idea of millions of archers attacking you as your rushed with your shield up in the air blocking the arrows. I wish they had an infantry that had very large shields that stood in front of the archers and protected them.

siege towers don't get stuck, the guys on the side must have been killed
Saranid master race.
I remember when I played the original m&b, I would always go Rhodoks because I liked the green open places and the big ol' shields
now I'm mostly nords but I'm tiring of king ragnar and his shinanigans
I usually play Nords because quite frankly, I have the best luck with them. I tried to go Rhodoks once, but that ended pretty quickly when I didn't have a very good early game start. There's just something about the Nords that makes it more fun to play in the early game.
Ahahaha, wow, ahaha. I just ran into my own patrol by accident on the Native Expansion and I saw in the bottom corner "Your relationship with [PLAYER FACTION] has detrioated from 100 to -3"
I was like what
I went into my city to rest, my own kingdom is against me. I can't go into town without attacking.
It saved after I ran into them oh wow.

A revolution is happening.
Currently a vassal of King Ragnar.
He gave me some shitty village bordering Swadia.
At war with the Vaegers and kicking their asses.
I eliminated the entire yellow faction too, their troops are the Sarandids. Sorry I forgot the name, but I captured each one of their cities and had atleast 150 troops in each castle and town before that shit happened.
IT WAS A GOOD SAVE
:C
your kingdom is against you, you must burn them down and name this move the phoenix initiative
Make them rue the day they turned against you. Burn them alive in the very castles you built for them!
They didn't turn against me, I ran into a patrol and it glitched.
