Holy shit Rhodoks are fighting against all factions in my game. We lost Praven and are trying to defend as much as we can now.

Nords - Heavy infantry, heavily armored bowmen who are also decent in melee. They suck against horse archers but cavalry charges aren't that dangerous if you know how to group your troops.
Swadians - Multipurpose cavalry, while they're just as deadly as Mamlukes on horse, if you use them on foot they're still very effective unlike Mamlukes. Decent infantry, decent crossbowmen. The crossbowmen usually don't carry shields.
Vaegirs - Great archers, shitty everything else.
Rhodoks - Spearmen & crossbowmen both use tower shields, making them effectively immune to arrows. A great tactic is to wait the enemy force to exhaust their ammo supplies while your archers wait behind shields (hold fire), and when the enemy charges make them into pin cushions. This tactic also works on most castle sieges, just wait the enemy to run out of arrows. My favorite faction to play with, due to the uniform appearance and effective shield walls.
Sarranids - Mamlukes are amazing for cavalry charges, no infantry army will be a match to you if you mass enough Mamlukes. Other troops are quite meh-tier.
Khergits - They love horsecock
Still playing the 1866 mod. Finally got made Marshall of the USA, tried to focus on wiping out the Apaches while fending off attacks from the Commaches. Then the USA and Mexico become hostile with each other. So now I'm at war with every other faction in the game. None of those other factions are at war with each other so they get to focus all of their resources on my faction. Our faction has no forts of our own left, having been taken by either the Apaches or the Commaches. I'll never wipe out any factions at this rate. Hell, I think they could completely wipe out the USA right now if they wanted to.

Downloading the 1866 mod, can you become owner of a kingdom (or country for context) in this mod?
Sometimes, when I play, I'll get killed in one hit for some reason, and I set the difficulty so that we only take partial damage. Then I finally found the culprit.
The double barreled shotgun! That fucker is so overpowered, it can kill anyone, even me in one hit. Not only that, but people with it are so damn accurate with it, able to shoot me with it from across a distance. But not as accurate when I use it. But wait! There's more! You can kill multiple people with it! One time, I killed four people at once with one shotgun blast!
But wait! There's more! Thanks to a bug, nobody, not me or any NPCS will ever get EXP killing anyone with it!
The Apaches has a soldier that uses this gun. Not as bad during skirmishes, but doing sieges when you're attacking, oh my god. They make me rage so much. Imaging your troops comming in through that ladder and then getting killed all at once due to a shotgun blast from those fuckers. That's why I hate them, and that's why I try to kill them first.
Settlers also get this gun if you upgrade them enough.
Bounty Hunters sometimes have this gun, too.
Get better armor. Don't do stupid things like rush headfirst before seeing what is waiting for, that's what the troops are for.
Just attack the faction you want to join's enemies. (Attack scouts then seige their city for instant -40) then speak to the king of the faction you want to join.

I must say, if you have an organized great long bardiche line in MP nothing will stop you.
(Except crossbows of course.)

rhodoks - own everything, immune to anything longer-ranged than a spear, demolish infantry due to their ability to one or two shot every enemy in the game with their crossbows, look cool as hell when you order a volley.

Nords are easily protected from the crossbows and break their shields

do ally shields break ever? i've seen nord huscarls running around with like 60000 arrows stuck into their tiny little round shields.
maybe because i was playing on 1/4 ally damage that playthrough, does that affect shields too?

1/2 friend damage is the lowest you can go I think.
Only scrubs play on anything below normal damages.

Well except this one fight where I was alone defending a castle against 6400 sarranids, then I turned it down a bit.
I mean literally alone too, 1 fit for battle VS 64xx.
After turning down the diff. I took down 220 of them, alone.
then they took me prisoner.

should have reduced battle size to 1 and duel as long as you could

huscarls have the best shields in the game

Swadian Knights, Sarranid Mamlukes, Swadian Sergeants, Swadian infantry, Nord Huscarls and Vaegir guard.
Your argument is invalid.
Cavalry only has to get behind them and smash them, and ive had plenty of times when my Nord Huscarls have just stood still and waited for the Rhodoks to come to them, at which point the Rhodoks were slaughtered in a minute.
Back in the original my greatest feat was fighting with 70 of my own men against 500 Rhodoks, and only losing 10 men.
Which do you guys think is the best faction?
I personally go for the Nords because huscarls are like friggin' juggernauts.
Is the 1866 mod for warband? From what Ive seen its for the original game. Also is it possible to claim the throne of another faction?

That's because huscarl shields are strong, if you've ever used a rhodok shield you'd realise they're not for melee protection at all

Nords (if I play as infantry) or Rhodoks (if I want to feel like a badass commander). Sarranids are fun if I want to win field battles with minimal casualties.

Game just needs pike walls. Currently cavalry is pretty unbalanced.
spearmen are too dumb to raise their pikes and actually spear cavalry charges
I would like to try the 1866 mod, is it for Warband?

Okay, I have around 600 days played with my current character.
I'm the marshal of Sarranid Sultanate and I have conquered the entire Calradia for my faction. The only enemy faction remaining is the Nords and they're currently holding one town.
The only reason they're still around is because they made a peace agreement just after I conquered their last castle, so they weren't eliminated.
Few ingame days ago they suddenly took over couple of castles and towns and I'm now waiting for a war to break out so I can finish them out for good.
By the way, I just downloaded the Diplomacy + OSP mod and it's just amazing. :smile:
