Is Warband any better than with fire and sword?

Yes. Fire and Sword is basically a Warband mod. Warband's singleplayer is better and it has an absolute shit ton of mods which make both single and multiplayer infinitely replayable.

so I have this problem where all the colors in the original M&B are fucked, the overworld map looks like it's in thermal vision. anyone have experience with this? [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] my brother says it could be the graphics driver being broken or something, because when we play source games on this PC, the textures and just about everything else is all funky looking. I don't know how upset they'd be, you wouldn't be able to hurt anyone if you don't have any strength. But yeah, I suppose not everyone wants to be a ranger or a strength-build lordly armor wearer like everyone else.

The campaign map is done through the website too though. I'm not sure if it's up right now, when I last played several months ago they had taken it down to fix something for a few weeks. Checked. It's still down, has been since January.

I should know, because a year ago I played a lot of cRPG under the Templars, which had the most territory out of all the clans and was one of the clans with most players. It was nice and dandy, we beat almost everyone, we kept conquering shit under crusades,inquisitions and what-not. But what we didn't know was that the clans we beat were secretly planning against us with our enemies. So, one day the defeated clans got enough money to hire the mercenaries (the clan with most members and most skilled ones) to attack us. So the mercenaries and our biggest enemy (can't remeber their name,but they were a big and powerful clan too) attacked us frontally, and that's where we sent most of our troops to encounter. The smaller clans also were sending their troops to flank us, but we were counting on our surrounding allies to help us, but the thing is that our big ally from our left flank betrayed us and attacked our other allies by surprise, destroying them. The other big ally from our back sent a few reinforcements, but they were obviously backing out since defeat seemed to be certain. Our allies from our right were the only ones that resisted the invading forces and helped us. We decided to retreat our forces that were fighting the Mercenaries and the other big clan so we could defend our capital and fortresses. Our left flank was in ruins, and the betraying clan was conquering a lot of shit from our territories, but we didn't have spare troops to send to encounter them. We managed to defend our fortresses for some time, but we finally lost them. By that time our allies from the right backed out, so we were alone. The most important thing left in our territories was our capital, so we got there everything we had, troops, money, equipment, members. So by the time the enemies came we had a lot of troops (How much troops we have=how many times we can respawn in a fight till we lose) and every member was plated and had very good weapons, we knew the fight is lost, but at least we wanted to go out with a bang. The fight started, and it took like 3 hours IRL till our capital was taken over, but the enemies had a shitload of losses. And that was it, the biggest clan was defeated because of treason and a well-thought plan by the enemies. After that a lot of members left, including me, the Templars still are in the community now I think, but they aren't many. But fucking hell it was awesome. So if you want to play cRPG, at least play it in a clan, most fun is there.

This is what I get every fucking time I try to login to cRPG. I bought the game 3 days ago, I have no fucking alt. :argh: Edit: I fixed it thanks to a helpful mod on their IRC.

The soldiers in this game is truely Quality > Quantity. I just had the most intense fight on M&B Warband. I got a task from my King to deliver a letter to some Sarranid Emir. I went there and I managed to deliver the letter and I got a notice. We are now at war with Sarranid. As I try to get out of their territory as soon as possible I see three Emir's with all their troops riding up to me, about 250-300 Soldiers in total. They are faster then me so I face them, I always went after quality > quantity on M&B so I have about 40-50 of the finest Cavalry and Archers and well, they have about 250 of Light Cavalry and Militia. Slaughter fest. I lost about 5 Swadian Knights and 2 Swadian Man at Arms. But they had loads of Swadian Prisoners, ended up getting 3 Swadian Knights, 5 Swadian Man at Arms, loads of Swadian Crossbow men back. I really didnt think a lot of these Cavalry, but I will soon siege my first castle.

Swadian Knights kind of have a reptuation of being hard to kill. My current Warband character has about 150 or so proficiency in archery and when I shoot one in the head, it does about 14 damage.

Swadian Knights are overpowered, I shouldn't be able to win a 38 vs 200 battle repeatably with no injuries.

Then install mods that remedy that, vanilla is pretty unbalanced

I can't find any mods that work with the latest version of the game, and I can't downgrade because I bought Warband off of Steam. On top of that, it crashes an awful lot.
