Question. How does one person not get proficient at blocking. It's literally just pressing right mouse when they move their arm.
Manual blocking, where you have to move your mouse in the correct direction according to their attack direction. A bit harder than autoblock
Duel servers are really good at improving that sort of stuff
Question. How does one person not get proficient at blocking. It's literally just pressing right mouse when they move their arm.
Try multiplayer dude.
Why would you hate them there is really no good reason for that Also, you don't need to spazz your hand to feint. Hold a regular attack, then move your mouse in another direction and right click while still holding the left mouse button.
That's not the entire thing. You have to keep doing it over and over. Even more so when your opponent does it too. And if you're doing it too slow it has no effect.
So. I join a army in Brytenwalda. One of the clothes they gave me was a fat suit. WHAT THE FUCK. And it provided 30 body armour, what.
Question. How does one person not get proficient at blocking. It's literally just pressing right mouse when they move their arm.
Blocking a man named Manuel.
That's not the entire thing. You have to keep doing it over and over. Even more so when your opponent does it too. And if you're doing it too slow it has no effect.
Your speed is actually capped by the speed of your character's weapon at switching directions. Generally since I use a pike or a halberd that's not terribly fast. I still don't understand the complaint here. Feinting is a real thing real people do in melee combat and this game doesn't require half the speed or effort you need in real life to pull it off. Why are you complaining like the players are assholes for utilizing it? If you don't like it it's an issue with the game, not the players. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline]
Duel servers are really good at improving that sort of stuff
Really really good. If you practice in Warband duel servers for a while you will slaughter everyone in F&S all the time.
I never said it's not the games fault or that it is completely unrealistic. While it is not entirely realistic the real thing is just too hard to get working properly in the game. I just hate it because it makes twitch gaming a feasable strategy in this game. You get people with short fast weapons feint the shit out of everyone and generally be cocky as hell. Like i said earlier, you can get those people by just not falling for it and being able to bloock yourself, but still. I don't like those people.
Often times those people can easily be beaten by feinting (non-spastic feinting) from a longer weapon. At least that's what I find.
Hmm, Anyone know how to get the latest version of Brytenwalda to work? I have downloaded it. Put the extract to into the modules folder of my Steam copy of Warband, And it never shows up.....
Worked for me.
I tried some wf&s again but there's not enough people playing. Just one server with 60 people and that's doing siege. Gonna go re-install mercenaries. For some jump in action.
2:51 PM - JohnnyMo1: this guy 2:51 PM - JohnnyMo1: was in heavy tin can plate armor 2:51 PM - JohnnyMo1: with a pistol and a sword 2:51 PM - JohnnyMo1: on a horse 2:51 PM - JohnnyMo1: and all I had was light armor with a halberd 2:51 PM - JohnnyMo1: and I killed him one on one without taking any hits 2:52 PM - JohnnyMo1: that takes a special sort of being bad at mount and blade
So what do you guys think, is blood and steel still the best mod for warband in regards to expanding the original game?
The Swedes feel a little bit overpowered, they've got great infantry, musketeers aswell as decent cav. It's alright if it's like a 30 player battle but when youre like 5v5 swedes always win.
Suddenly, hussars
Hussars are great, especially against the crimean horse archery but lances are easy to counter or just avoid.
Yesterday I hoped in a server of F&S with not too many guys, and my team managed to get organised, we made a 'line' of musketeers on the back and another 'line' of pikemen in front of the musketeers, on an open field map. The loose cavalry swarmed in, but we held the line, and we killed all their cavalry with no casualties. All that remained later were some loose musketeers that either got shot by our superior fire or because we advanced towards them and smacked them good. The teamwork was incredible, and all we used was the ingame chat. When the map changed and was a small village, the teamwork vanished as everyone just ran to cover everywhere in the town, and as more people joined, it was all lost and was turned into your usual pub server. It's a real shame, some of the community in the M&B games are brilliant and you can have so much fun sometimes doing this sort of stuff or crazy stuff. It was awesome nonetheless.

The guys on our team with shields got in the chokepoint while our archers behind picked them off, felt awesome. But nothing like that ever happened again.
Does F&S have a pretty big online playerbase compared to Warband's?
Does F&S have a pretty big online playerbase compared to Warband's?
Noone plays Captain TDM anymore, there was one populated battle server today and the biggest siege server has 200 slots that are never filled (60 people last time I saw it). Theres only like 300 or so people playing anymore. Its also a challenge of who can spam the most musketeers.
Most people play captain coop, which is pretty good because its fun commanding a small troop of guys against tons of enemies with yo friends.

Which game would Facepunch recommend to someone looking to buy one?
Which game would Facepunch recommend to someone looking to buy one?
Warband

If they cough then that's just really easy to avoid. [editline]2nd August 2011[/editline] It's kinda easy to fight a hussar unless he's good, or in my opinion so. I play battle most of the times, and I just find that when you play 5v5 and the enemy is playing Sweden, they all, or most of them seem to go musketeer with one of those best muskets. The infantry got claymores which are great cause they're somewhat fast and not 'unbalanced'.
Goddamn, I suck at this game, everytime I read this thread I want to go play M&B (normal diff.) and I do, and I start off pretty good but I eventually face the unavoidable bandits and I get goods kills and I basically kill anything until I get hit ONCE and I die, and we lose. Easy difficulty I became kings of the lands yada yada, on my last save I had about 75% of the land covered, but that was easy and I'd like to play on normal, but it seems the bandits are unavoidable and too hard to fight.

Be careful, especially if you're playing With Fire And Sword cause those muskets can mess you up.
Ah sorry I was thinking about multiplayer.
It works the same in both single and multiplayer. [editline]2nd August 2011[/editline]
Which game would Facepunch recommend to someone looking to buy one?
The original M&B is obsolete unless you're really attracted to a specific mod for it that hasn't been ported, and F&S is for the most part a nicely polished mod for Warband. Best to get Warband in my opinion.
