Saw this thread at the top of Games Discussion and HAD to say hi. I remember playing the FUCK out of this game back when I was a kid. I think I'm gunna have to buy it on steam
p.s. when i saw this thread was bumped i thought it was gunna be something important like the announcement of a sequel
Well, it's definitely worht buying on Steam, I own it there too.
I feel like I'm kinda getting an Evil Genius vibe from Prison Architect with how you can design the place and such. Love this game and recommend it to everyone.
That's how I felt too about PA too. EG is such a unique game.
Oh hey, someone bumped the thread. Made me want to play the game again, I think I'll go download my GOG copy now.
How fitting, I just started replaying this game again a couple of days ago.
Great, thanks a lot FP you're making me reinstall this game and waste my weekend

But it'll be so worth it
Nice to see this thread revived, i was about to make a new one. Sort of got some news about Evil Genius 2, it's not much, but at least it's something.
While seeing if there was any news about a new Evil Genius game a few days ago, i looked at the twitter page of Jason Kingley, the CEO and Creative Director of Rebellion.
One of his latest tweets was:
"Had 4 big meetings about new games, very exciting, ranging from new AAA and free to play. Industry disruption is challenging and exciting."
I thought i might as well give it a try and say a new Evil Genius game would be nice. So i said "New games being made by Rebellion? I hope we get an Evil Genius 2."
I didn't expect a reply, but he said " It's on the (very) short list."
Sounds like they have plans for an Evil Genius 2 at some point.
Man, that could actually work out.
Thank god that Rebellion got the EG rights before Sierra was absorbed by Activision Blizzard.

After the swarm of crappy games we get nowdays this would be a dream coming true.

Any news about a news or rumours about Evil Genius 2 is good, even something that just says they are sort of might be planning to make a new game.
It's been so long since we've heard anything, I've been hoping for a new Evil Genius game for years. The first one was awesome and deserves a sequel if it's done correctly, there's a lot of potential with it. That Facebook game was a huge let down, but at least it shown they are willing to do SOMETHING with it.
Maybe some more people should send him a message on twitter saying they want a new game as well. I don't suppose any 'big' gaming sites would put this as news? I think it needs more attention really.

PC Gamer had a "Send us news" thingy mail right?
Ah, man, I remember buying an playing this game for a bit, but I never really got into it because I could never make decent traps.

I can't see that on the PC gamer UK site. I did the "send us a tip" thing to Kotaku and Joystiq though. I hope one of them puts something about it on their site.
I think that they weren't too interested, no new news about EG2 :(

Doesn't look like it. I don't think it was enough information to be worth putting up really. I was going to post it on Neogaf so more people can see it, but i can't post threads there.
Um, so basicly I was playing chilling relaxing all cool
minimizing the game once in a while for the game to progress by itself, the PC crashed and blamed it on a temperature error when it started back up. Or... tried. It always goes back to a blue screen halfway. Now it won't start up unless I do it in safe mode.
whats happening
and before the crash, everything went square and even the blue error screen was full of white stripes making the text unreadable. This happened once before, but everything was fine when it started up again. (It also crashed during the exact same circumstances)
D:
I wonder what would happen if I'd do a mass interogation with five bookcases at once...time to test!
Do mods work the same way on the steam version as the non-steam one? Going to play this again will have to redownload all the mods i had.
Most probably yes. I have the retail version so I can't really help you but most probably the way folders are organized is pretty much the same.
You should look on the evil planet forums.
this game needs an scp foundation mod
Does anyone know where I can get the mod that removes clutter from the building area?
Does anyone know where I can get the mod that removes clutter from the building area?
What do you mean? Only thing i can think of is the one that removes the rocks you can't build on.
He probably means that.
great game. I remember playing it but never really understood the mechanics.
a few questions:
how come my traps get triggered by my minions and kill them?
how come some minions leave me for "loyalty" and "attention reasons? what do they mean?
what's the most efficent way to make money? When i occupy and steal from countries my minions get wiped out after not long.
why when i tell my minions to upgrade they don't even go into the training room?
loyalty = spread loot around
use valets/social to reduce heat
attention = break room

The cheating way to get money is to grind for hours on the first island in the stage where you have to capture the nurse, as it's hardcoded so that enemies cannot spawn until after that.
The other way is to send people to areas with low surveillence but high money, and not to send too many, with valets to help lower their heat.
Another way to make money is a megatrap, but they are really hard to set up and require a lot of cash.
Minions train at their own paces, so it can take a while, and you also need someone of that rank already, who was gained by interrogation. E.g. technicians need a lab bench and a worker to be trained, and a technician to do the training.
Minions with low attention will trigger your own traps, fix that at the archives / staff room (honestly forgot which)
Loyalty loss is generally due to bodybags / Mariana Mamba's special, not much you can do to prevent it bar having frequent tortures in the mess hall and other popular areas, or just hiding body bags in the freezer. Show off loot to help with loyalty, too.
