Build Lockers and beds (or just lockers I can't remember)
It's just lockers for a higher population.
Bought this game for $2 because I had some bucks left over. Looked at it as a joke. Should I try it out?
It's just lockers for a higher population.
explains why i built 3 beds and 2 lockets and my pop only went to 12
explains why i built 3 beds and 2 lockets and my pop only went to 12
Also your population cap is determined by your notoriety score so you can't just build a ton lockers right at the beginning to max out your population. For example a notoriety of say 100 grants you a population cap of 50, 300 notoriety lets you support a population of say 150 people(these aren't the actual values).
the max cap is 100, I changed that to 200 because I know a lot of people who said that ruined it for them
the max cap is 100, I changed that to 200 because I know a lot of people who said that ruined it for them
I remember a couple of months after I first purchased the game editing the population cap to 500. My computer practically melted through my desk and I blue-screened :v:
Evil Genius or: How I learned to Finance and slow the fuck down.

Haha I just got assaulted by 3 nation's militaries at once, they were all exceptional. there were 2 survivors, my starting henchman and me, the evil genius. well, if you want to be technical, a valet survived. I executed him though no mercy
Poor vallets, they already get shot by veterans whenever they try to help my henchmen, even if they mean no harm :c I do like how Science and Social minions fight on red alert though :v:
Unless that news is "We are making an new EG game." then it's little more than speculation and optimistic hope. As far as we know it's just "on the short list" which does not guarantee it's gonna get made. So unless there is some news I missed where they expressly said they are making a new EG then I'm doubtful. I'm really gonna have to ask for a source on this claim that they have plans for a new EG game.
It being "on the short list" means they are possibly planning on making a new evil genius game at some point. If they weren't planning on making a game at all it wouldn't even be on the list. I didn't say they were definitely making one, just that a sequel is a possibility and they haven't completely forgot about it.
I'm rather surprised some other developer hasn't tried to do a game that is similar. It's not like Rebellion has rights to the concept of Evil Genius.
I'm rather surprised some other developer hasn't tried to do a game that is similar. It's not like Rebellion has rights to the concept of Evil Genius.
Dungeons is supposedly pretty similar, although pretty much everyone I've heard talking about it says it sucks, and I haven't played it myself.
A few teams have tried. Dungeons, for example. They take the basic premise, (evil overlord) decide which setting they want, and work as they go along. In Dungeons' case, it was much less an Evil Genius/Dungeon Keeper game and much more... eh... not good. I like the game just fine, but it's not even the same style of game. Your best bet is NBK, Natural Born Keeper. They're trying to take the original Dungeon Keeper game and update the graphics/engine and give it new features. All the same art style and dark humor. I think they said they looked at the second one for ideas for expansion, but they're definitely not moving away from the darker, more evil feeling of the first.
Oh neat it's based on the first DK (wich I find much better than the second one, DK2 is so much slower)
The speed isn't necessarily an issue for me, I just didn't like how they took the dark humor and really evil feeling of the first game and made it much brighter and goofier. In a way, it feels like Dungeon Keeper always had a cocked eyebrow and an evil smirk, but Dungeon Keeper 2 has a big grin with an evil look in its eye. They're still very similar games in nearly every way, but DK1's atmosphere actually felt really evil.
Dungeons was a horrible mess, but it's a bit sad that no mod team set up to recreate Dungeon Keeper on it. Hell, Dungeons had a loading tip that pretty much said "we want you to make a Dungeon Keeper mod for this game". Also, Startopia might intrest some people, it's similar to Dungeon Keeper and Evil Genius, just in the future on a space ship. I only played it once or so, really need to pick it up from GoG some time. (I think it's a fiver or so) It was made by ex Bullfrog employees. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Startopia
they should've included a speed up button, 2x speed would've been good
I thought of that too, mostly I'm just using the dev console and even then everything is still too slooooow.
I must be blind/stupid, but how do I get rid of bodies other than building a massive freezer? How do I steal decent amounts of money without my minions getting raped every 2 days? When I've got a minion with "is in need of help", how do I actually get him help? And since I like this game, any similar games?

And since I like this game, any similar games?
When a minion is in need of help you should have Valets sort him out automatically, at least i think that's what happens. Freezers make bodies take longer to disappear but they don't generate any negative effects, there isn't really any other way to get rid of them until later in the game. Stealing money is best done right at the start as you can just send all of your minions to get money while only having a few left to manage your base, as you won't get attacked until you capture the maid.
using meat racks lets you place more bodies in the freezer. i think you can place 6 on it and it only takes up 3 squares (where as a single bag takes up 2)
-snip- This never happened.
That was pretty bad quite honestly.
That was pretty bad quite honestly.
I probably will scrap it then. Can't say I was too sure about how it was going to be or if it was worth putting more time into it. Thanks. I'll try to find something better to create.
The idea isn't that bad, but the execution is less than satisfactory. Plus Francis has the same model as Bill, which is very confusing.
Yes I thought of that too (model wise), I also know it's really poorly done as mostly this was to test. This is absolutely not final at all, so I'll do really something much better. Maybe I shouldn't really give up at the beggining, it's kinda silly. But thanks for being honest.
If you enjoy doing it, keep doing it.
I know that this is a sci-fi god game, but you might be interested. They claim inspiration from DF and DK, and DK's close enough to Evil Genius that I figure it'll be ok to link it. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1438429768/maia

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1438429768/maia
It doesn't really seem very similar. In the video it seems like you don't carve rooms out yourself like in Evil genius, and there doesn't seem to be any minion management.
