They are programmed not to attack creepers as it would "lead to the death of entire kennels".
I found a wolf and accidentally slayed it.
Why won't the fuckers just stay still? They almost ended up dead because of the many times they've fallen down a hill.
Mine just fell into my lava trashpit.
All i heard was a slight whimpering and then the hissing sound lava makes when it incinerates things :saddowns:

I dunno who's idea it was to have them wander, it would be SO much better if they just followed you and sat down or stood still.

It would be cool it the bone became the way to control them.
Left click would order a dog to a location and sit, or would attack an animal if it was under your crosshairs.
Right click would summon the dog to you, and he would be close.

or instead of a straight up way to control them, the longer you have them the smarter, stronger and more controllable they get, they start off as they are now and in the end end up...better like

I agree, I'm sure that humans in small villages or that made things of their own and thing like that would be fun.
I mean, even if they were just fuck retarded I would still enjoy finding interesting ways to kill them.
I'm just not very into the idea of having a relationship with computer generated characters.
My first wolf died when he teleported next to me at the edge of my deep quarry, he fell about ten stories. :c
wolves should be able to pick up the scent of animals and lead you to them
I've had about five wolves on the server I frequent.
2 got lost during a server-reload, perhaps due to being too far away.
1 got raped by creepers and skeletons.
1 drowned in the town water fountain.
1 vaporized in the town lava fountain.
Needless to say, I mostly just find them annoying now... they kept getting stuck when following me anyway.
I like wolves, I have a small army of them, but they're totally fucking pointless IMHO.

Ok guys, you might not believe this, but I may have been the on who gave Notch the wolf idea. I sent him an e-mail (you can find it on the Minecraft website) with some ideas for Minecraft, including actual flying birds, spears, and stray dogs. I wrote that stray dogs would follow you and be your pet if you gave them a bone. This was back in February, I think. So I think it's quite logical to assume that I came up with the Minecraft wolves. Unless it's coincidence, of course.
I JUST found...and lost...two wolves :(
Randomly encountered them while wandering through forests, led them back home. My home is a pyramid surrounded by within 30 feet by a small inner wall, and surrounded for a quarter of a mile by a huge great-wall-of-China style wall. The outer wall is just a wall with torches and burning nettherrack lining the top to keep spiders from coming over the walls.
The inner wall is surrounded by a lava moat, and the only way in is through four underground tunnels under the wall seperated by doors.
Instead of following me into the tunnel, they tried to walk over it towards the wall, and both were killed by the moat ;_;
A player on the server I go to has about 30 in his basement. Disabling all other mobs from spawning really pissing me off. I'm trying to farm gunpowder for fuck sakes.
