To be honest, I wouldn't play some "upped graphics" version of minecraft. Look at all the clones out now. I'll give you one for example. Sure the graphics are fancy, but the charm of minecraft is missing. The simplicity adds a depth of enjoyment for me.
the excessive glow effect, the halflife 1 looking axe, and the over HD-fied everything kill the simple blockiness. I think it's cool you can use your avatar character, but that just tosses the whole aesthetic aside
official also I love the water-shaking, it really adds a dimension to the animal. I hope he updates the other animals to act a little less like legos at some time or another
i liked how sheep would eat grass
Keep in mind Jeb's probably running it in a special debug state where wolves are common and other features are in deliberate easy-mode to make it easy to test. Simple things that could be added: - Naming your wolves (a little multiplayer style name would appear above them), with a little symbol indicating their gender (like in Pokemon), just for kicks - Wolves grow (cub, adult, grizzled) over time, like say every 3 Minecraft days they are alive - and they grow in health and power - Ability to dye your wolves - Some sort of item which you could use as a wolf controller (like the antlion bait in HL2), left-click to attack here, right-click to gather to me - Knowledge of your wolves' health (maybe under or next to the name) - Randomised wolf stats? (speed, health, attack, indicated by wolf visuals - for instance their model could be slightly leaner if they were stronger) On the subject of taming, I think taming should be a bit like fighting, but with visual feedback. Wild wolves would have a tinted skin making them look... wild, and as you attack them with ... something (a taming whip?), they slowly lose this and become less "wild". Cooler but more complex things would be finding packs of wolves roaming, that sort of thing, rather than singular ones or having male and female wolves breeding to create babby wolves, yay!
Buy nametags from the Mojang in-game store. It was a joke people come on.
Minecraft 2
^ WHAT WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? oh god this is gonna be terrible. Why not just infinite updates to MC 1
Also it bugs me how smooth the shaking and head turning animations are, yet the standing and sitting motions are instantaneous. [editline]19th March 2011[/editline]
^ WHAT WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? oh god this is gonna be terrible. Why not just infinite updates to MC 1
I miss bad reading.
That's just stupid
At the rate Notch is developing minecraft right now, those "updates" aren't going to even exist. Surprising to see actual minecraft work being put in for once. They look awesome. I love how fluid the animations are. (Well, for minecraft anyway) Now we just have to wait sometime between now and our death for it to come out.
I think it's still far too early to make any assumptions.
I just realized that I quoted the wrong post. I meant it in reply to this post:
Nothing in that article even IMPLIES that he will stop development after 2011. They won't even finish development until after 2011.

I'm confused, doesn't this imply development is ending? I guess this could be interpreted either way, I saw it as he'll release Minecraft officially and work on Scrolls full time.
What I'm saying is that IMO they are setting goals too close for them to complete it properly, I'd rather wait and have something worth while than have something quickly but shoddy. But also, even if it is finished by the end of this year, they probably will still work on some things here and their. They aren't gonna drop it and forget about it as if they disowned it.
right click with stick = throw GO FETCH BOI
right click with stick = throw GO FETCH BOI
Doesn't Q throw things already?
Doesn't Q throw things already?
Well, yes, but it just kind of drops it. Since stick has no purpose other than crafting, one coulf make it throwable, similar to snowballs and eggs. It's actually a very nce idea :v:
I will only have one wolf, and I shall name him Dimitri. When he dies, I shall mourn his death, and make a grave for him. Then, I will continue out into the night killing all who stand in my way. When morning comes, I shall put a flower onto Dimitri's grave, and look for a new dog; Yugoslav. And so the cycle repeats.
Hooray, my nickname on blockland :D
Well I can't say I'm all for wolves being rare, actually I want the opposite. Just because the world in MC desperately needs more wildlife.

Too many pigs, cows, and sheep will consume too much and ruin all of the biome. Too many wolves, and there will be no pigs, cows, or sheep to eat, and they will rapidly starve. As such, a small amount of wolves should be spawnable at one time per chunk.

We would need a lot more for the system of checks and balances that we have here on earth.
We only have like, 5 'animals' so far. We would need a lot more for the system of checks and balances that we have here on earth.
The number of animals does not matter. What matters is if they're kept in control so as to prevent total environmental collapse.
Idc about ecosystems I just want wolves!
Jeb is currently in the chatroom on irc, and currently he has already stated some things about what he's going to update and make in the wolves, and possibly the other animal. And no i am not giving away the irc detail's!
Cyrix doesn't like the idea of taming wolves.

I will get a Small army of wolves and call it Dick Wolves

I'd dedicate to a X32 resolution skin for them. Same with spiders, cows, sheep, chickens, and octopi.... Octopi. <-- My internet thinks this is incorrect.
would prefer wolves become wolverines at night if not tamed [editline]21st March 2011[/editline]
I'd dedicate to a X32 resolution skin for them.
right click with stick = throw GO FETCH BOI
It would be nice if they could bring back arrows. That would actually be useful. I can never find mine after a night of skeletons humping my door.
