Jax and Olaf are tankish melee carries due to their abilities.
Olaf has his CC immunity and natural benefit from max HP, Jax has his dodges and defensive steroid ultimate and huge mobility for a melee champion.

So they are bruisers is what you are saying. Building Jax glass canon means he will just get melted and can benefit from his ultimate, he isn't a nuker like ad melee assassins so no hp means pointless jax cause he wont survive the damage. For olaf in my opinion his meant to run through the lines and kill the carry with his true damage and building him glass canon ends up the same as jax cause he can't benefit from his bonus on his ulti. They are both meant to peel away the carries aka bruisers.

Carries are the backfoot of the team. If they get all their shit farmed up they can go 1v5 on paper.
Bruisers are more of a teamfight contributors. They don't rape entire teams alone but they can effect it greatly. (Jax having a AoE stun, Olaf having the ability to ignore supports peels once he dives for the carry, Jarvan caging people inside a tight area etc.)
Carries are more oriented towards squishy characters. Usually having the ability to kill multiple targets either at the same time of very quickly 1 by 1. (Vayne with ultimate on kills 1 target quite fast, Twitch just hits your entire team out of nowhere with his ultimate.)
So yea, Bruisers have more variety: They can be either tanky as hell or turn into carries with proper farm.
Generic carries have only 1 option: Glasscannon. But they use their nature effectively by killing shit faster than they can get killed if situation fits for it. (Olaf running at you with frozenmallet and ult on doesn't really allow you to kill easier targets like their support/carry).
Carry is more of the killing shit fast. Bruisers are more of a teamfight-chaos oriented roles.
Is it better to duo with an ADC to get out of Bronze? Every ADC i've played with is utter shit.

If you can rely on your carry, propably a friend of yours, then you may.
If you are alone, you are better off with any of the sololanes, since you don't have to rely on people you don't know as much as you were playing botlaners. (Jungle included as "sololane")
Just make sure you still play as a team, ganking your mid as toplaner is often underestimated, and can net your mid an advantage. Vice versa when you are midlaner.
I've gone from Bronze I to Silver II solely by playing Draven (with a friend supporting me every round). Most people who claimed adc in ranked (though that was in bronze I) usually fed endlessly, so if you're good at playing adc claim that role for yourself.
I mean, adc is such an important role, you can't afford having people fuck that up.
Ive stopped calling positions in matches and just take w/e is left by the time its my turn. People seem to rage but someone else usually shouts out respect pick order.

I've gone up quite a few ranks as well by supporting my Duo friends ADC.
He isn't even that great of an ADC, it just makes playing so much easier when you're using something like Skype. Coordination is so much easier using words rather then text.
Also makes it easier to stop each other from doing stupid shit.

Soloqueue games are so much better when you just shut up and play. There is literally no point in saying "omg how u die??????? u super conter". Half the reason people are stuck in silver is because they spend more time talking than playing

iirc there's a Chinese moba (Not that 300 heroes bullshit) has a 10 v 10 mode and it's pretty much a mess.

I can play everything but ADC(minus vayne and mf) but everytime i lose a ranked game it's cuz the ADC sucks
