Anything that uses WebKit is instantly cool. I'm really liking it. Also, at the OS files.

On a side note: OP, you think you're cool, bashing me?
'go kill urself'
'you fail if u dont like it'
i hope u die slowly macfag'
I'd be more inclined to ask you that question.
Hmmm, I put Steam into dev mode, and found a link to this: https://intranet.valvesoftware.com/wiki/index.php/VGUI_Editing
They changed the location of their internal wiki. :(
Dunno if that's the same content though.
I just noticed that empty space at the bottom is used...when downloading something.
Too bad Source Mods don't get cool things like other games.
Like Friends who have it and play. D;
It's too dark. It's a community game unity thing, it doesn't need deep blacks.
I love it, think it looks so much better and modern.
Not gonna lie, I love it.
no problems with it for me.
It looks nice , but i havent tried it it out yet.
I like current one best compared to the past UIs steam had
but I kinda also like the new one...
v:smile:v
I just realized if you play somthing like 30mins your steam chat (i mean sift + tab ) thing wont work anymore.
Love this new one.
when I saw it, it reminded me of the Zune's layout.
Just like with Facebook everyone sees something change it's UI and suddenly they freak out without giving it a chance...typical. It's a beta so there are bound to be issues. Personally I like it, and think it's a nice change. Though the steam loading bar when you first start it up now looks out of place. The games page is amazing too, it actually has detailed information and screenshots and all that. Sure if you own it you know what to expect from the game, but it's a nice touch I think.
Figured out more about customizing it, and now I have a fixed version of my FP theme :D
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?qtzzfwtykmz
extracts to steam directory, back up the old files if you want
Friends list is no longer messed up like it was in my first one
[IMG_THUMB]http://i46.tinypic.com/2ngsn75.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
The logo isn't blurry like in that shot, that's just shitty mspaint compression
I want to keep working on the layout & get rid of all the wasted space, which is really the only downside I see to the new UI.
It needs some work but I like using it and I am looking forward to some new themes for it

My mw2 started to redownload itself after opting for the beta, first only a 300 MB sort of update, then it wouldnt start and started compeltely downloading itself again, im not freaking out without giving it a chance.
i actually like it if only steam added that "onlive" thing to it then that would be better so people with horrible computers and crappy internet can play demanding games like Bioshock 2 or Mass Effect 2 or Crysis and etc. Thats what really need to be beta tested for Steam.

OnLive is a crappy gimmick created by ISP's who wanted people to pay out the ass for internet services. It doesn't really work.
I like it, works nicely.
That is all.
Can someone make a theme that removes all of these crazy over the top gradients, even the tray icon has gradient for christ sake.

That's actually on my to-do list. I'm not planning on replacing the tray icon, but there's probably an easy way to do it. As for the others, I'll try to get rid of all of the gradients that are defined in the layouts - there are plenty of others that exist on Valve's web servers, so I can't get rid of em all
I'm also trying to figure out what I can do with the games lists - so far I've changed the 'details' game list so that the left-aligned list is a little wider & the web details are a bit smaller
I like the features, but hate the color scheme.

Not really so much as remove all of them just lower the colour a bit so it's not so dramatic, you know what I mean?

oh and the scroll bar does not require a gradient at all.
Fucking stripes everywhere goddamn why does every designer think they look good

As long as you're not complaining about the UI. I don't care about legitimate problems with the program itself, but as far as the UI goes, get over it.
There is only one thing I don't like about the UI and that's they removed the ability to make steam go small so I can tuck it to the side. I don't like having only maximize and minimize as my options, I want my middle ground back. That's pretty much it for me.
Personally I love it, and to those that are over criticizing, it's an optional beta in which they're looking for feedback. If you don't like something, send them feedback. If you do, send them feedback.
Either way, no ones forcing you to have the beta.

No one is forcing you, but you think its cool and want to try it out, next thing you know, you cant play mw2 the rest of the day because it needs to be redownloaded.

..and thus, you have learned your lesson first-hand on the risks of a beta.
I love this new UI. I won't use it until it's fixed up and not as demanding though.
