"Buy this game which costs £40 for a single hat in Team Fortress 2!" [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] And then morons actually buy it and never play the game.
Damn. Looks good, I've wanted a game like this for a while.

The fact that it's free is so awesome, it certainly looks beatiful.
Borderlands, meet Global Agenda.
And Mass Effect....now have an orgy and make a baby.
Possibly good news everyone! Orson Scott Card, the author of Ender's Game, is writing Firefall's story!
AWESOME NEW TRAILER This looks seriously fun.
If this is free to play, what is the catch?
If this is free to play, what is the catch?
There are microtransactions, but it's only for things that won't change the gameplay, like cosmetic things or XP enhancers. They aren't gonna have it pay-to-win.
There are microtransactions, but it's only for things that won't change the gameplay, like cosmetic things or XP enhancers. They aren't gonna have it pay-to-win.
Sweet, is there a release date or is it just some time towards the end of the year?
If this is free to play, what is the catch?
Micro-transactions for non game changing items. There doesn't seem to be a catch. fuckin' ninjad
Sweet, is there a release date or is it just some time towards the end of the year?
I seem to remember something about late 2011 but I could be wrong.
With the titans I hope it's not cheapened. Like it could be really rare for it to happen, but when it does everyone starts freaking out and throws everything they can at it. Basically I'd want to be a thing of people in-game talking about the titan attack for the next few days, if it ended up being a simple tactic like "everyone get in the turrets and fire at it for a minute" that'd really suck.

Im really looking forward to this game now.
Im really looking forward to this game now.
Me too. But it's F2P and I think we remember how much you hate F2P games
F2P is a fate worse than death.

Sure, they make money and have players but thats not what makes a fun game. Its what makes a rich company. Who cares if the game is fun, just make money! Thats F2P.

Me too. But it's F2P and I think we remember how much you hate F2P games
I know. I should know by now that I shouldn't get my hopes up. There is ALWAYS a catch. whether its limited game play (spiral knights energy system) or "premium" player ranks that make playing free almost pointless (APB) something fucks it up. The only F2P game I have found to do it right has been LoL. Simply because they have the option to buy everything for real dosh but make it not stupidly hard to earn the in-game cash to buy things. I fully approve cosmetic items that do not effect gameplay at all being sold.
Maplestory probably has the stupidest microtransaction thing ever, my friend literally spent 50 dollars on items that only last 3 months, what a load of horseshit.
The game looks good, but the pay for better items and microtransactions is a concept which I despise so much. Okay, I don't pay for the game itself but for some items. I'd rather buy a game than paying small amounts regularly. It's such a moneywhoring way.
I thought it was confirmed that they would be only visuals you pay for?
I wasn't interested in Firefall before I saw "PvP" gameplay from Gamescom, now I want to play it.
Yeah, you don't pay for anything that can change gameplay afaik.
Yeah, you don't pay for anything that can change gameplay afaik.
And that's awesome. At least for me, Firefall looks a bit like Global Agenda, but much more fun. Signed up for Beta, hope to get in to check it out.
Oh, I misread then. I thought you had to pay for better equipement. Well then it's okay. Sorry for the confusion.

I really kind of hate the art style, but it's free and the gameplay could possibly be awesome, so i'll give it a try when and if it gets released here in Europe.
Kind of a bump, but I managed to get into the beta somehow @_@.
Aren't beta testers still under a NDA?
