Aren't beta testers still under a NDA?
Yep, quiet down. [editline]when[/editline] Think I'll that that screenie of the installation bar down, just in case.
Well, there's only a few weeks of 2011 left, so I hope we can start playing this soon. The video in the OP about the open world blew me away. I wasn't aware that it was a giant open world. Thought it was servers and such, like tf2.
I wish they would let more people in.
I believe you 'sign up' for it just by creating a forum account, I signed up for it over a year ago.
I forgot about this game thank god this thread got bumped.
I believe you 'sign up' for it just by creating a forum account, I signed up for it over a year ago.
I did too although there's always the open beta which should be starting soon.
Signed the fuck up.
Fucking hell, just watched the commentary video and I'm psyched, but wasn't it supposed to be released by now? At least the open beta?
I've signed up like 5 different times and I still haven't gotten a beta invite. I guess I'll just wait until it comes out to play it.
Fucking hell, just watched the commentary video and I'm psyched, but wasn't it supposed to be released by now? At least the open beta?
Open beta (if there is one) probably won't happen until sometime in the next couple of months. Closed beta has been happening ever since September.
The game doesn't have a traditional "launch" like other games (esp paid games). Firefall is in a period of what we call "Exclusive Beta" which is based on a g-mail style invite system. There is no closed beta, open beta, launch phase as you find with other online games. Much like Minecraft, we will be in beta stage for quite awhile (past December), even our store will be in "beta test" mode for those who would like to try it (not a requirement at all, and never will be. Firefall is F2P). During this time, we will be inviting more and more players, and release content slowly as we get beta feedback and improve the game and the store. We haven't wiped characters thus far, but we will probably do so prior to the open world test, and many times after that. Current testing shows us that we will probably need to wipe even after December if that's what it takes to make a great game. We're not rushing this, and we're working hand in hand with our beta testers. We will also announce when wipes are over during beta so people will know about it beforehand. Unlike Minecraft, our exclusive beta is by invitation only. Either you are invited from our pool of forum members, or you are invited by a friend who has available invites and who is already in the beta test program. At some point, there will be so many invited testers that the game might as well be considered "launched." By that point, we will drop the beta tag and drop the invite system, and have the game available for download by anyone. We don't have any planned date on this, and we don't expect to ever have one. Like G-mail, the beta tag will just disappear one day.

Open beta (if there is one) probably won't happen until sometime in the next couple of months. Closed beta has been happening ever since September.
Is this saying in order to get in is to be active in the forums? Until later when they open it for all anyway...
Kind of a bump, but I managed to get into the beta somehow @_@.
All my hate.
I want beta access, goddamn. Looks fantastic.
How does one get a beta invite?
How does one get a beta invite?
Register on the official forums. [editline]26th December 2011[/editline] On that note, I registered on the forums on 4th of 9th, 2010, and still waiting :smith: Also some news that haven't been posted here [release]CryEngine 3 programmer joins Red 5 Studios One of Crytek's leading graphics programmers has joined Red 5 Studios, developer of the ambitious free-to-play shooter, Firefall. While at Crytek, Ury Zhilinsky worked as R&D manager and senior R&D graphics programmer, and contributed to both Crysis 2 and the development of CryEngine 3. At Red 5 Studios he will take the role of senior graphics programmer, joining a team that includes veterans of World of Warcraft, Tribes and M.A.G.. "We're still a relatively small team here at Red 5 Studios because we've been very selective when choosing 'tribe' members," said CEO Mark Kern. "It's not just about talent, it's about what happens when you put together a group that shares the same commitment to quality, community, and fun. Ury's skill and experience make him an asset that any team would be happy to have, but it's his development philosophy that makes him a fit for the 'tribe'." In January 2010, Red 5 Studios was experiencing financial difficulties that led to redundancies and voluntary departures. However, the Chinese online developer The9 acquired a majority stake in the company in March of the same year.[/release] Source [editline]26th December 2011[/editline] Ahahahaha, just read an old email back from during PAX11
Keep in mind that our beta will be a staged process. Registered members have been chosen to participate in Closed Beta: Stage 1. Our selection is partially based on positive community member activity, and partially at random.
I guess that'd explain why no betas for me :suicide:
I registered at the beginning of August... But not been very active. Never mind.
Tbh it seems kinda stupid to have a beta to only the active forum members. I really have no desire to be a part of a community that I have no interest in.
It'll come out for us eventually. Besides, from the looks of it they're working on PVP first (which is neat but doesn't really interest me) I'm much more interested in the massive PvE stuff and playing with my bros, which'll probably be later on in the beta.

The pvp looks kind of boring/generic but the pve stuff they showed ages ago looks awesome.
Bumping a kind of old thread, but the beta was released and I'm in it, so, ya know, if anyone still cares about the game...
Bumping a kind of old thread, but the beta was released and I'm in it, so, ya know, if anyone still cares about the game...
Hnnnng, do want. Depending on how much people want for them I may try and buy a key.
Hnnnng, do want. Depending on how much people want for them I may try and buy a key.
Yeah, its almost done installing, when I get a quick play through from it, I will post my perspective on it. EDIT Well, nevermind, their servers are down a lot due to its early beta. Tests are currently scheduled for Wednesdays from 5pm to 9pm Pacific Time (01:00 - 05:00 +1 day GMT), and Saturdays from 11am to 3pm Pacific Time (19:00 - 23:00 GMT)
The fact that the story is being done by Orson Scott Card is fantastic.
God dammit I want in the beta :smithicide:
This is now redundant.
