Your advice was shit in the first place, selling tanks for shells would have amounted to a loss anyways, not to a profit. An even bigger loss now that it went from 130 to 85.

Keep buying shells, now that Wargaming has made it clear they aren't going to wipe the shells or issue bans or anything, there is nothing to lose, and only more potential profit to be made if this guy isn't telling the truth.

There we go, this shows that thread really did do damage. What happened is that people see that thread, and ingame they talk about it, talk to clan members and kaboom. common knowledge. Its even discussed in my clan now lol.
Now there is another exploit I would say, its the Luchs turret and the luch it self. I may have forgotten, but looks like the turret and tank is getting an increase in price.

Depending on how they go about "tagging" the shells, it may be avoidable (if they even are, provided this isn't just a bluff as you said to prevent more people from doing it). The way I see it they did one of two things to tag shells, they added a new column in the database as a number, which represents the number of pre-8.4 HE shells there are, or they added a new column in the database as a Boolean (true or false) value to indicate if you have any pre-8.4 HE shells.
The former would be the smart option, however if it's the latter I think in 8.4 buying one HE shell would cause the flag to reset then you could sell all of the shells at the high price; but, WG's not that stupid, right?
