Canceled my preorder.
I'll be spending my cash on a game that actually comes out on time and doesn't have its delays announced one day before release. If i do end up getting the game, it will be when it's 50%+ off over the holiday season. I've already had to wait long enough, waiting a bit longer to get the game even cheaper isn't going to hurt. The game has gone from 3rd to 20th in on the top sellers list on steam, It's highly likely that the game is going to go on sale shortly after release.

It wasn't delayed once. They just never said the release date.
You can't really tell how long is something going to take when you're making it.
You can when you've claimed it's finished and needs a few bug fixes. I don't write video games, but I've wrote basic software for college courses, and when I know the basis of a project, I go into it certainly knowing when I'm close to being done/done.
It wasn't delayed once. They just never said the release date.
Actually they had the release date set as OCT 4th. They announce the game will be delay AFTER OCT 4th already passed, which was already unprofessional. Then they had the nerve to post on the steam forums that the game will be released on the 18th on PSN, which made people question if the game is also going to be released on the same date on PC. Because hey, if you're going to post a release date on a PC forum it should apply to the PC as well right?. People started to ask the Dev's if it will be released on the same date on the PC but they never got an answer. Someone notice that people were already getting Achievements for the game and figured that the game was already done. One day before release comes and we finally get an answer, the game is only coming out on PSN on the 18th. How unprofessional is it to knee jerk your customer like that up until the release like that?
I wish II could cancel my pre-order but I got the game by trading tf2 items so I'm fucked.

I'm sorry, but I can't see how that's knee-jerking your customer. As far as I know, I knew an amount of time before the 4th that the game was delayed, and as far as the PSN release goes, I'm pretty sure they would have told us earlier that it also applied to the Steam release if it had. If anything, Overkill is showing that they care by communicating with us.

That is bullshit and you know it.
While I admire Overkill's spirit, and while they do seem to at least want to communicate with their community, they and SOE are not good at getting good PR. At all. They have been unnecessarily vague ever since they first "delayed" it, being inconsistent with their excuses for it, and even when they knew the US PS3 release date, they still have no idea when the PC and European versions will come out. The whole "Oh, well we need more time to localize languages" excuse sounds like complete bullshit, and almost every time something seems good, they end up botching it up somehow.
-snipped this part because I'm an idiot and forgot that the whole general "No Refunds" policy on Steam doesn't apply to pre-orders-
The icing on the pathetic-hilarity cake here is that they're already working on DLC, and SOE will most likely charge money for it. Considering how outspoken a lot of PC gamers are against early, pay-to-play DLC, and also considering that the most attention the game has probably gotten is from the Steam Store front page, that will either not help them at all or hinder them even further.
I still look forward to it, but it's a shame that it's probably been screwed over by it's initial release confusion.
I really I hope even with all this confusion there will still be enough players in the game.
I'm pretty upset by their decision and I feel like they deserve the hate. However, I still want the game so I'm going to keep my preorder.

And on top of all this, they have willingly provided the option to cancel your pre-order. Again, while I appreciate that, it still will most likely fuck over sales like nobody's business, and the whole thing will end up feeling like a massive waste of time and potential. Honestly, I myself got it as a gift and neither I nor my friend that gifted it to me give a shit, but I won't hesitate to admit that they have pretty much fucked themselves over in every regard here.

They can't disallow you to cancel your preorder. That's a basic principle of Steam, if something is in a preorder state it CAN be cancelled, and that's how it's always been. It's not generosity on Overkill or Sony's part, it's basic rights. I have seen so many people saying they are cancelling it isn't even funny. I think the way they've been mingling with the community is terrible, and it will show.
Probably going to cancel my reserved copy, it's ludicrous to me that PCs, of all consoles should get the short end of the stick.
You guys remember Half-life 2, right, wasn't it delayed for about half a year or so?
These guys have a confirmed date for about 2 weeks behind the original one, so I'm not sure why it matters so much.

Nerds can be unbelievably melodramatic and overentitled when it comes to getting games on time, something which has become increasingly apparent with each new release that initially goes awry. I've lot track of how many threads there are on SPUF that consist of basically nothing but hilariously awful and poorly-executed analogies about being served food at a restaurant on time or some shit like that.
Although, again, the developers aren't totally in the right and are probably hindering themselves more than they realize. And they're just digging their own grave when they say things like "We're already working on DLC for interchangeable masks!".

So...this game is coming out, never?
Cancelled my pre-order. I was willing to work with them when they delayed it at the last minute, but this is just unacceptable. Now we can see the game is complete. The question is why don't we have it yet?
They haven't been handling the situation well at all. It seems like they tried to communicate and eventually said "Eh fuck it, why bother?" I'll be taking the money and buying something during November. Sorry Overkill. Maybe during the holiday sale.
I'm keeping my preorder because this is going to be fun and I'm not an overreactive lady.
Found a review for the game while broswing gametrailers

Looks pretty generic, IMO.
Looks pretty generic, IMO.
It was supposed to be generic.
Lmao someone at gametrailers likes left4dead.
Hurr durr left4dead hurr left4dead left4dead is better because it's not left4dead did we mention left4dead has zombies and left4dead and lets compare it to a VALVe title, but at least it tries to be left4dead.
As if left4dead invented cooperative play.
It really is a lot like L4D, not just the engine and glowing people, but also the fact that you fight amounts of cannon fodder.
Still not out yet? cool.

What about the engine? Diesel looks nothing like Source.
I wish I had the patience of my friend. The only thing he's been saying throughout this entire delay is, "I don't care, I'm just glad to finally have a game inspired by Heat."
And you know what, I should be happy about that too. STILL can't wait...
EDIT: By the way, 2 reviews are in!

In PAYDAY The Heist, players take on the role of a hardened career criminal and engage in a number of high-stakes, death defying heists in a never-ending pursuit of the ultimate score.

"For a group of developers that love the FPS genre and have an affinity for blockbuster heist movies, PAYDAY is truly a game after our own hearts," said Bo Andersson, CEO of OVERKILL Software. "Each PAYDAY scenario makes FPS fans prove their worth as players while co-op teams are pushed to collaborate and accomplish strategic tasks that only an action hero could dream of surviving. And, there will be much more exciting content to enjoy with upcoming DLC and a motion picture based on the game currently in production."
PAYDAY The Heist is now available in North America for $19.99 USD via digital download on the PlayStation®Network. Dates for release of PAYDAY The Heist on the PlayStation®Network for European territories, as well as for the PC in both North America and Europe have yet to be announced.
KEY FEATURES
Six High-Intensity Heists: Whether you're blowing the roof off a building to extract a safe via helicopter, or emptying the vault at the First World Bank, these action-packed heists will have players on edge and always checking their six.
Interactive Co-op Gameplay: Whether AI or live, your crew of four must operate as one to bring in the "big score." Sharing extra ammo and med kits, helping regenerate wounded partners, guarding key positions, taking civilian hostages, or cracking through various security measures - it's all for one and one for all.
Endless Replayability: Dynamic environments, adaptive enemy behavior, shifting entry points, FBI agents repelling through skylights on ropes, SWAT teams crashing through the windows, and special units crawling through the ventilation shafts makes each play-through of every heist a unique fight.
Massive Character Progression Tree: Players choose a specialty - assault, sharpshooter or support - to gain weapons and equipment that fit their preferred form of violence. Unlock trip mines, silenced pistols, machine guns and much, much more.

TL;DR Game just released on NA PSN.
What about the engine? Diesel looks nothing like Source.
Well diesel is the next step in locomotion following Steam.
Weren't you paying any attention during Thomas the Tank Engine?
TL;DR Game just released on NA PSN.
Actually, it might just be the US. It's not showing up at all on PSN in Canada, even though I thought that the Canadian PSN and US PSN were one in the same. The only thing even showing up on the store for it is a single trailer.
I would laugh if they pulled the "Localizing Languages" excuse for Canada as well.

Are you being serious?
PC gamers are the minority and most of them are never pleased.
Why would you cater to the picky minority instead of the large accepting majority?
