The attachments are gone, but OK is fixing it in time for the DLC.
We still have golden masks though and such.

there's like no PS3 player base, and the only online game I played was buggy, with half of the AI cops standing there doing nothing

That's because you where un-synched, chich means that 1/2 players will stand there like invicible zombies and all the cops he's killed will also turned into zombies (Killable though). This happens when you join in-game sessions and it's a known issue. OK will too fix this in time for the DLC.
TL;DR: If you got a bad internet connection, than don't join games in progress.

If you're coming back to Payday because of the influx of new players, be wary of doing Heat Street for a few days. I've had two instances of one <10 player surviving with the whole crew right up until the helicopter extraction, then refusing to stand under the chopper.
So apparently there are 120 000 new Payday players, I would assume that that's mostly thanks to the Payday daily deal on steam a day or 2 ago.

Admittedly I haven't played it in a while, but honestly from what I remember the AI wasn't too great, plus it'd be a game best enjoyed with people.
I bought this during the Steam sale, it's pretty damn good. Kinda reminds me of Killing Floor somewhat, best played with friends and takes a bit of experience to really get good at the game.
When the hell are we getting the No Mercy DLC? I've already exhausted all of the maps. This would've benefited from an SDK or something to extend the lifespan. :/

The AI isn't great, but they do things that players won't. I once saw Hoxton jump up onto a table in First World Bank and give a speech about how the crew are only there for the bank's money and that no one should try anything heroic.
