I just finished my mining run for now, still PLENTY of ores down there but heres an image of what I decided to get. Got all that in a single trip. It's an awesome mine.
I hope you know how to use all that wire powder. I'm currently trying to work on a multi-door combination system. You flip various switches to activate different doors. Such as switches 3,6,7 opens door 1, while switches 2,3,8 would open door 2. After I get some complicated mess of wire powder out, I'm going to try to simplify the system so I could potentially add an infinite amount of switches and doors if need be.
I try to label my death spots. Example: I lost all my stuff (except for a little bit of iron and 2 diamonds I had in a chest) by falling into lava, so I labeled it DEATH 1 to keep myself away from there.
If i fall into lava i press escape, turn peaceful on, build a platform and get out of the lava
Here's the bare bone of the one switch to open 2 mirrored doors: if you keep this format, you can extend wires and place a floor lower, it should work. If you are interested, this is how it works. For the double doors, one of the doors is mirrored, which caused it to have a reverse value for being open than the door next to it (so when both doors are 'closed', one door is actually closed, the mirrored one is open, but that is to make it have the double door look). if you were to normally wire these, on would cause one door to open and the other to close, so you need a "not" gate, which is made with the 'thermite' torch on the side of the block, which basically inverses the value of the input switch, giving the door the inverse output. The inverse output with the door's reverse code, causes it to behave like the other door.
so that wire to the source torch connects them and allows you to turn it off? Just knowing about that is a huge leap forward. Thanks!
If i fall into lava i press escape, turn peaceful on, build a platform and get out of the lava
I take my punishments like a man.
If i fall into lava i press escape, turn peaceful on, build a platform and get out of the lava
Why couldnt you have mentioned that before! :arghfist::saddowns:
I kept mining straight down and encountered a bunch of solid black cubes, I tried to mine them but it failed, any tips? what are they?
End of the map, you're not supposed to be able to dig those things.
Ok, still guys, can you send me/post your projects?
Ok. Your turn tinhead. :smug: [editline]08:25PM[/editline] Oh and this is a long finished project. And long gone. :gonk:
so that wire to the source torch connects them and allows you to turn it off? Just know about that is a huge leap forward. Thanks!
yeah, and if you have trouble with it still, post a screen shot of your set up, and I'll see if I know how to fix it.
So he gives us "wires", pressure plate, levers, and the ability to make logic gates? But no muskets. I do not understand this.
If i fall into lava i press escape, turn peaceful on, build a platform and get out of the lava
Wow, what a pussy. What are you going to do when multiplayer rolls out and you can't do that anymore?
So he gives us "wires", pressure plate, levers, and the ability to make logic gates? But no muskets. I do not understand this.
Muskets would just be...wrong. I feel it would ruin the style. I don't get why people keep asking for guns.
Do sheeps/pigs/enemy mobs still spawn in your house if you go away from your house for too long? Also, what purpose do these wires actually serve? I mean yeah, they can be used to open doors remotely but that's the use of that if you can just go up to it and smack it open?
My minimalistic monster-proof door mechanism
Can you post the full schematics for that?
Wow, what a pussy. What are you going to do when multiplayer rolls out and you can't do that anymore?
I wonder if the difficulty in SMP is going to be hard-coded in or if he's going to let server's decide. Same with player limit. He needs to add an insane difficulty.
Quick question: Do Trees need water or light to grow? I found an amazingly huge area of cave that I am going to grow trees in.
yeah, and if you have trouble with it still, post a screen shot of your set up, and I'll see if I know how to fix it.
I think now that i know how torches work i should be able to work it out. The level difference for the torch is gonna be a problem though. Maybe. Unless you can just put a wire to the torch.
Anyone else having a really hard time understanding the rules for the wiring? I'd like to make one of these flickering systems like Zeonho, but I'm still not entirely sure what ranges doors are affected by wiring at, much less why they seem to interfere with each other when touching, but don't act as part of a circuit otherwise.
Quick question: Do Trees need water or light to grow? I found an amazingly huge area of cave that I am going to grow trees in.
light only.
If i fall into lava i press escape, turn peaceful on, build a platform and get out of the lava
It's even worse when you have a current dragging you back against a rock.
Quick question: Do Trees need water or light to grow? I found an amazingly huge area of cave that I am going to grow trees in.
Just light.
Can you post the full schematics for that?
That is the full schematic. The trick is the door on the block above the red torch was placed sideways, so you don't need an extra inverter.
I feel like making a video from minecraft. Anyone know any good programs to use for screen capture?
Fraps is one of the best but the demo version is only useful for checking that your hardware can support it. Camtasia Studio is good and has a fully-featured trial, but it's far more expensive if you want to purchase it.

how long does a youtube video taht to process?
Here is a cool little puzzle I made: You start in a closed off room, with only a door that is locked (pretend it is iron door), with no roof. There are wooden pressure pads outside the door. and pretend you can not build or destroy blocks. so to get out you would through a block over the wall and try to get it to land on a pressure pad. If you are lucky it lands on the pressure pad, opening the door, for you to make your escape: Wooden pressure pads can be opened if you stand on them or if you throw an entity on them, such as a block or railroad track. Stone pressure pads can only be activated if you or another creature stands on them. This can make some interesting puzzles.
that is a sweet idea
F*** this whole "planned city" idea. How about we just set up a server, and let people build in it. Cities will naturally come about, as people like to congregate, and people will probably put up walls etc when the city gets bigger. Also, who put 'Sickle' in charge? I prefer D0C. H :colbert:
Can you post the full schematics for that?
I could livestream and show how its been made and the flickering switch :v:
