Sounds like one of the games that comes with Revenge of the Toys.
It's an old desktop toy that lets you wreak all sorts of havoc on your desktop with tons of little games.
Used to play the shit out of it back in the day.
This is the only screenshot I can find of the menu but it might jog your memory.

I remember an old DOS game, it came on a couple of CD's... you were this helicopter, and you would fly around in an isometric view over the desert or over the jungle and blow stuff up... I wish I could remember the name.
i remember this game, but i forget the name of it
ive searched before, i remember mechs, it being on the original XBox only, and you could press a button and you would eject from your seat, press it when your running around as a human on the ground and you would explode into a red mist

Might be :
Desert Strike
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert_Strike:_Return_to_the_Gulf
if it's not that one, it might be any of the other ones in that series.
There was also one called Jungle strike : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jungle_Strike
so both of those fit your description!

or maybe even Steel Batalion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_Battalion
There was this black and white game with physics.
You drived a car around and took out an house and a small city.I can't renember its name.
There was this command & conquer like game where you have to collect crystals for energy or money, I can't remember. You also could build robots out of different parts. All I know is that is has to be atleast 4 to 5 years old. Also I think it was 2D but I can't really remember.
guys my question is still open :v:
Im trying to remember on old-ish game that was on the PS 1, it was a 3rd person shooter. Baisically you played as a cheesy looking muscly-blonde guy who walks of a spaceship saying "Honey, I'm home!" but then discovers that theres aliens everywhere and you gotta go around shooting the aliens and saving a bunch of women, can anyone help me out?
It was 2000 or earlier, and it was like some flight simulator game, except it was in space, and I remember the menu looked like the hangar bay of a carrier spaceship.

So my father is trying to remember the name of a PC racing game. All he knows is that the game might have only been available through digital download, and the intro video had some rock music he liked.

So did no one figure out my kangaroo one from page 29?
I've got a really obscure one, but here goes.
It's a medieval fantasy game. I remember it being pretty bleak, colorwise.
The perspective was third person seen from the side, all graphics were pre-rendered 3D except for the backdrops which i think was hand drawn. It played like a adventure game/rpg, but extremely vague quest-wise, you could walk around and explore at your own leisure.
You started in a village with some basic stuff, a knife and a water pouch, i believe, and there was a water tank infested with slugs or something that you had to kill to get water.
Then you went to a forest, on to a castle, and that's pretty much where i stopped playing because it got too hard.
Internets and cookies all around if someone manages to find out which game this is, i would love to play it again.
Darkstone for the Playstation maybe?

I'm trying to remember the name of a space (exploration) game,
Some details I remember:

being able to choose between Marine, Pirate and Research ships/starting points,

Small, medium and large space maps.

being able to travel between black holes if you had a certain item,

nebula made your spaceship go slower,

the game wasn't entirely serious, if at all,

it was top-down

I clearly remember watchfrogs,
The thing with this one is that if you had them on your ship, they could catch a thief.
Who as I recall would be present on your ship if you received a notification of stolen towels. (seriously)

I think the starting planet was called 'hope'

Among items you could find were the pioneer plaque, a monolith,
This game entertained me for hours, as I'm sure it will again.
I hope anyone can help me on this one, I've searched for ~half an hour.
EDIT:
Should've searched 10 mintes longer, found it: Wierd Worlds - Return to Infinite Space
Okay this is a really hard one I guess.
A really REALLY old Star Wars game, 2D, and you play alot of diffrent chars, I think...
I remember playing this one fighting game long time ago, it was some korean game or something. It's on PS2.
There were 2 characters, other one was this big guy with some huge log as weapon or something, something huge anyways, not sure. And the other guy had sword(s) not sure if he had 2 :D
3D game, it had pretty nice graphics, and sweet bosses :D
But I'd like to hear from this game again, PM me if you know the game :)
I have 2, both for the psone.
First one:
- Japanese game.
- It had co-op.
- Red and blue space fighter thingies.
- You could choose between 2 different planes one shoots yellow curving beams
the other shoots thunder.
- Topdown 2d.
- LOADS OF ENEMIES
- Also you had to insert coins or something by pressing select.
Second one
- You played as a girl.
- you could plcae traps and trigger them with triangle, square and X.
- Triangle triggerd traps on the ceiling(rock falling form above or a huge axething swings by), square triggerd traps on the wall(arrows coming out off the wall or the wall extends) and x trigger ground traps(spikes comming up).
- 3D 3rd person.
I only played the tutorial level since it looked a bit dark and scary.
