But then you have the ghosts, which kills it for me.
the wat
Not to mention people being 100% happy all the time, despite crime, fires, A DAMNED NUCLEAR DISASTER, all because the taxes are 0%.
Half the city was destroyed and they were still happy.
I even built a damned elementary school in the crater of a nuclear explosion, still an irradiated wasteland, and it was still packed.
Also the whole phantom sims thing, sims getting new jobs and HOMES every day. Its like Maxis even included Sims just as a god damn gimmick to say that they're there.

Most of the population of cities in SC V are "ghosts."
They don't exist at all, they are just simulated entities. However they still interact in the game world so that jobs and homes are filled by people that don't exist so it is just fucking weird.
I might set up an antarctica region later today if people would like that.
Rate me rainbow if you want in so i can gauge how big i should make the region.
Lets get this region started!
THere wouldn't be a problem with the faux population numbers if there was any way tell if the balances and needs are based on these or the "representative" agent numbers.
Gonna make that Antarctica Region, PM me your Origin names.
Also i realized you can stream to Twitch directly from origin overlay which is really frickin sweet, shame my internet sucks and i gotta stream in 1024x768 :(

In SC4, people and cars are ghosts. In SC5 they actually drive to their destination?

Um no, SweFox meant that in SC4, traffic did not exist beyond congestion statistics. The cars and people were just eyecandy "ghosts"
In SC4, people and cars are ghosts. In SC5 they actually drive to their destination?
The way the game works right now these "actually driving" people are just there to give you an illusion. The demands/numbers are still based on ghost people.

Dude I don't really get your point, it's a fucking videogame, not a professional level city-planning application used by civil engineers and cartographers. In SC4 if you can also get all sorts of funky ass results if you mess with the simulation in odd ways.
Plus, I don't get why you're even in this thread. You don't like the game, and you don't seem even willing to give it a serious try. Take your bitching and taken content from Reddit somewhere else pls.

I understand that but I love how it is. It gives me the feeling they are alive even if they're not. The fact that they never disappear on the street is nice.
TBH the population fix isn't much of a fix, because the game clearly has small agent populations compaired to real population numbers simply for optimization. The game doesn't really make "sense" anymore when you play with "fixed" numbers that only ocunt the number of agents rather than the inflated statistic. Why would only 10,000 people live in a dense city with skscrapers capable of holding 1,500 people each? It just doesn't make sense. The fudged population numbers are there to account for the fact that its simply impossible performance wise to have literally 200k people being rendered as agents.
Now what the game needs to do is equalize all these stats. I.E. for workers/zoning, they look at your fudged population numbers, and say "Okay we have 100,000 people in the 300k city working, that means we need demand for at least 100k more agents to work", completely ignoring that the agent population is only 10-30k or so. SO the game expects "100k population" to fill "that much industry need and jobs", failing to regonize that each agent reppresents 10-20 sims or so. If they fix that, then I don't really see a problem with the fact that there literally aren't 300k sim agents running around everywhere for a city with 300k population. THe city still functions as it should, and has a realistic density level for that population, which for me makes wither or not the population numbers == 1 agent = 1 population versus 1 agent = 10 population irrelevant.
I really hate the population thing, I have 95k people in my city and 9k of them are working. What are the other 86k people doing?
How do i join a region with other people? I so wanna play.
I really hate the population thing, I have 95k people in my city and 9k of them are working. What are the other 86k people doing?
They're not real. Fudged population means the displayed population is a lie. Your working force is a lot closer to the real population. I suspect they forgot to fudge the working force number :o)
1. How do I get rid of the mess that the waste pipes have created?
2. They want more residential for jobs, but when I get rid of commercial or industrial they want more of those, what do?
Trees and parks likes to suck up pollution.
Seriously I don't know why everyone here is crying doom and gloom and saying simcity is a super broken game lol
if they just fixed the traffic/agent AI and what I mentioned above that would pretty much solve the problems I have with the game
It's a very good game and it's deeper than previous sim cities in certain ways thanks to the fact that (while yes, agents are stupid and mindless) the agents simulate things to a much better degree than previous simcity games where it was all based on formula and calculation then coming up with a rendered effect to show that calculation (i.e. traffic, bigger buildings, etc).
- And a lot more stuff snipped -
This was refreshing to read and mirrors my personal opinion of the game. I'm getting really tired of the raging hateboner that many people have for the game and EA. Reading reddit (there's my first mistake) is starting to sound like an episode of Ancient Aliens. Everything is conspiracies about how EA forced the innocent Maxis developers to create a terrible game to drive away SimCity 4 players.
The game isn't perfect by any means and many of the points raised by the fervent EA/Maxis/SimCity haters are legitimate, but overall I enjoy the game and hope they build on and refine it.

?
I still love it, it's so much more fun than SC4.
At first it was, when we didn't know anything about how broken it was, but I genuinally feel like I've been lied to, and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people are beginning to feel the same way.
Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful game, the infographs are great (probably my favorite part), the way everything moves and behave almost like a real city at Cheeta speed, the way water, power, sewage flow through the streets, but at the end of the day the game is bogged down by the awful AI, the always-online BS that they fed us, the small cities that CAN be bigger, etc etc
So Chickens, about that region?
Its up, Sim City didn't want to accept that we are friends and i couldn't invite.
Still got about 9 slots left, PM if you want in.
So... How long do you think it'll be before somebody reverse-engineers the server software and people start hosting their own private servers?
I'm willing to bet this game will be hacked to pieces in a year's time, and be better than Maxis could have ever made it.
Airports?
LOL NOPE 1 DEGREE OFF AND CAN'T TRANSFORM TERRAIN, LOL YOU WASTED 85K HAVE FUN BITCH

they inflate population to make you feel good about your city because its tiny.
I purchased it twice accidentally. Paypal 'froze' on that little loading screen it does so I went back and did it again as the game hadnt appeared in my library. I got charged both times..
Will Origin refund for this or not? Theyve got an extra 52 fucking quid out of me, not happy.
If so, how would I go about it, not having much luck finding info about the process.

Contact EA support through live chat, most likely. It might be an hour wait but damn that's bad.
