I believe they can see the region map and the players in it but I don't think they can zoom in and see your cities.
Just spent the last few hours playing on Clearwater on a private region.
I've got a better grasp on the gameplay now, just need to work on laying out roads a bit better.

My city so far. I'm having some issues with it, it has barely 37k inhabitants and I can't find a way to get more people in. I've checked most squares and moved things around to make space for more high-rises, so any time soon I'll be getting around 10 more buildings, yet nothing close of the 75k I need to upgrade my hall. It barely produces 4k/h and I can't raise taxes because the high-class starts bitching. Also my garbage disposal system is collapsing and my bus wait time is of 60 minutes. Anyone has any suggestions?

Check out Simplicity. It has 300000 citizens but literally everything's in the red.
I had an epiphany just before I went to bed yesterday and downgraded my streetcar avenues. Now I have barely any traffic lights, meaning traffic flows much better. As a result, trucks can actually get where they need to be, so garbage/recycling gets collected, goods get delivered and fires get put out. Now I just need to deal with the aftermath.
I.o.w. downgrading my transportation system solved my transportation issues. Bizarro logic.

Alright I bought the International Airport! Now all I need is ~10 million simoleons worth of imports.
I think I was supposed to join some region in the last thread but since I had trouble getting my key I couldn't join in time. Are there any regions with space left I could join? Origin name is the same as FP name.
