Have you guys checked out this kickstarter?

Basically a DRM free city builder with everything that Sim City now lacks.
There's a Reddit post somewhere about how unbelievably sketchy this kickstarter is, and it currently is probably a huge scam. If it is a scam, and it gets funded, a lot of people are going to lose money on something that doesn't exist.
Before I bought this game, I didn't think the limited size would bother me.
But goddamn the game is suffering from it.
The RCI bars tell me that I basically need everything, placing any kind of building is a huge pain in the ass because there's no space and I have nothing left to really do after "only" 3 hours of gameplay.
The only thing I can do is start another city and try to optimize it better to cram as many people in a small box as possible.
RCI doesn't work great anyways ignore it
Don't give a shit about optimizing a city to fill the square. Its fun to "min/max" a city once or so but part of the charm (even in older games) is to just do things differently for your next city.
It can be pretty challegeing for example trying to make a city split up into 3 different cities that are close together (whitewater crossing is perfect for this), and having one of the cities be focused on being a wealthy suburb/town full on mansions/parks, one city being a touristy downtown and other being pure industry slums. That's what Im doing and it's not as easy as just "winning" in 3 hours, especially since I'm not really focusing on mining or anything for any of my cities. I've still got plenty of problems and plenty of things to do in all my cities, not to mention my great work, and I've been playing those since launch pretty much (when I've been able to of course..)
Eurogamer have given Simcity a 4/10. Ouch
Another ouch is a rating of 1.7 from 3075 people on metacritic.
Another ouch is a rating of 1.7 from 3075 people on metacritic.
Metacritic means shit. Anyone can go on and rate it 1.7 because they hate EA. Ratings are stupid and provide no real feedback.
User ratings are bullshit.
If you want a real USER review look for the one that rates 5~/10 and lists the pros and cons.
Because everyone knows that <5/10 is an angry consumer, and >5/10 is a paid reviewer.
Get it on Green man gaming, it's 20% off and you get it instantly.
It's full price for me. :/
I really fucking hate how bullshit common disasters are in this sim city, and they are totally random too
In previous ones natural disasters would happen once in a blue moon and the "more common" man-made disasters were preventable and events that still didn't happen all the time.
However in this one it's impossible to play the game for a day or so without having a 3-4 disasters happening and completely destroying your city. It happen so goddamn much, and is almost always going to be irrepairably expensive. And you can't prevent them at all, they are extremely destructive and happen all the damn time. If you are riding on a very fine budget while you grow your city you can kiss your entire town goodbuy as you watch everything crumble as the only thing making you real amounts of money in the city was just destroyed because a the a random fucking dinosaur just decided to pop out of the ground on your extremely expensive uni/expo/recycling center, and wreck half your city an hour after you just had a meteor crash with nothing you can do about it.
At least the extremo-bullshit disaters in previous games were so rare you'd be lucky to have them thrown at you once within 50 hours of playing. In this, you're garunteed to get them every couple of hours of playing.
I really hope they cut the frequency of disasters in half and make it so stuff like nuclear facilities aren't 100% garunteed to blow up (which doesn't even happen in a melt down lol...) if you don't have a fully staffed+1000+ student university in your city. It just isn't fun right now. Disasters were fun in previous games because they were so rare, and because you could just thrown them on your own city. Now have to "unlock" them (lol), which doesn't seem to work because achievements are disabled, and they happen all the damn time, constantly wrecking your shit instantly making you not give a shit about the city you just spent a bunch of time making.
I'm seriously going to start playing only in sandbox mode now lol just so I don't have to deal with this
I've played for hours (8-9 hours sessions) and I've just gotten -1- disaster. Must be luck though..
I got 3 or 4 slots left on my region i think, drop me a PM.
Do you still have a spot left?
Antarctica server should be down atm.
Great, they're taking down US east 3, Antarctica and south America for server updates... That is every server I have cities on. :suicide: hope we get leaderboards and cheetah at least.

I had both an earthquake and tornado spawn in the exact same location. Luckily that location was a relatively empty spot with oil pumps so the damage wasn't all that great. I'm pretty sure god is against the oil industry though. The tornado took out some Depot oil tanks and almost took out my oil power plant.
I've played for hours (8-9 hours sessions) and I've just gotten -1- disaster. Must be luck though..
In the combined time I've put between three cities I've gotten about 8 disasters, maybe a total amount of playtime of 25-30 hours or so
Whelp, Facepunchia seems to be inaccessible at the moment...
Any other Facepunch regions I could join in on?
Any good review sites on this game?
I might get this once the price drops.
Once you guys were able to play, is the game fun? Or should I just ignore it and stick with SimCity 4?

Very
Of course the game also has the issue of the more you play the more the flaws show
I'd defo reccomend coming back to this game in 6mo-1yrs time when the game's gonna be more updated with more features and more fixes to really make it shine. It has a very "DayZ" or "minecraft" feeling where the base game is super great but it's just -missing- things that you know are gonna get patched in later to make it really live up to the full potential of the game. And the devs seem very keen on actually supporting the game and updating it in this way (I'm hoping only things like building styles, new disasters, great works and actual physical content are stuff that's done for expansions or DLC). It's just a shame the game is $60 when it's feels like it would be the next "big" minecraft or whatever without the price the game is currently lol. A very awesome base game premise that is a lot of fun but makes you wish for the bugs to be fixed or the feature set expanded just slightly to make it actually live up to the game's full potential

If you want SimCity 4 but 3D, stick with SimCity 4.
I've only had trouble playing the game a few times. I've always found the game really enjoyable, despite sites like Reddit trying their best to tell me to stop having fun. Still though, I wouldn't recommend it at full price because there are legitimate issues with the game, but if you can get it for $30-$45 then I think that's fair. I've been really enjoying the game playing with friends.

Though they temporarily lowered their score to 4 from the initial 9.5 due to the horrible launch.
Anyone want an invite to my region on EU West 3 got, 4 slots left?
Add firstblooduk on origin.
EA probably closed the India trick to get Simcity for like 25 dollars instead of 60 didn't they?
EA probably closed the India trick to get Simcity for like 25 dollars instead of 60 didn't they?
No it's because city planning isn't popular in India

The first disaster I had, I was watching in awe. Now it's just "fucking hell, another giant lizard". They shouldn't be so common.
The first disaster I had, I was watching in awe. Now it's just "fucking hell, another giant lizard". They shouldn't be so common.
Yeah that's the point I'm trying to make
By making them common you turn them into a seriously irrating annoyance you have zero control over and it's a totally random condition that decides wither or not you have to throw away your whole town or not
When they weren't nearly as common (like in previous simcities which BTW had disasters as OPTIONAL), disasters were really neat, even if they did do bad damage. Because it's a rare event that usually doesn't happen, and really spiced up the city planning.
Meanwhile in my region, I'm getting more physically-destructive tornados, meteor showers and earthquakes than the entire world gets in a 1 year span of time lol
I can count on one hand the number of disasters I've had, and for whatever reason they were all concentrated into one city.
in my 52 hours of play time, i've had one meteor storm and that's it
I've had garbage monster and a tornado.
I've played for 17 hours and have had 2 earthquakes, a tornado, and a zombie invasion. help.
