Did the game just get updated?
Looks like it just updated. But I can't find the patch notes.
The guy who played offline said himself its very limited without the emulator soooo? That clearly shows you that they aren't lying when they said its an online game.
They could have added offline mode to play the game while without internet connection or when the servers are down. They could have very easily included server files in a streamlined way if they really wanted to and they didn't. They aren't limited by anything, they have the source code and plenty of skilled team members.
They could have added offline mode to play the game while without internet connection or when the servers are down.
Yes they could but they didn't. Doesn't make the game crap. It's still a good game if you looks past the problematic servers etc. Seeing how good the Antarctic server have been I can't say this game is broken AT ALL anymore. You can fully play the game you payed for. Why should they? It's their game, they wanted it to be online and you very much knew what you bought. It's only your fault for buying something you don't like anymore.

They cheaped out on QA to largen their profit margin, or they rushed it. And no, I didn't know the servers were going to be a pile of shit after launch because they promised they would not be.
$60 says I should have been able to play fine at launch. They cheaped out on QA to largen their profit margin, or they rushed it.
Ok? It's not launch anymore.
Ok? It's not launch anymore.
Uh I can't access one of my regions because the server is quote 'busy'. Leaderboards, challanges and the global market are all disabled. [editline]15th March 2013[/editline] oh and I've sent millions in $$$ gifts and only half of them arrived.
Uh I can't access one of my regions because the server is quote 'busy'. Leaderboards, challanges and the global market are all disabled.
Then join another server? Which they are trying to fix. Also, having them disabled doesn't make the game broken. It's not a gameplay mechanic. Perfect timing: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1254035
Was watching someone play Simcity today, and the server she was connected was in Antarctica. This explains the server problems :v:

Perfect timing: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1254035
Well it seems the general majority of people seem to dislike what they've done. And yes it removes the competitive aspect out of building a regions, its is a game mechanic. Plus, why should I have to switch servers when I already have a city? Oh wait its inaccessible.
Still doesn't make the game broken. Because some server's aren't working? Why would you force yourself on a server and keep complaining.
Because $60 is a steep price for a game that is riddled with lies.
Because $60 is a steep price for a game that is riddled with lies.
You guys aren't allowed to have fun. Why are you having fun? Stop it!
You guys aren't allowed to have fun. Why are you having fun? Stop it!
So I'm a bad person for giving somebody my 100% honest input on the game I've owned for 10 days now? He asked for input did he not?
So I'm a bad person for giving somebody my 100% honest input on the game I've owned for 10 days now? He asked for input did he not?
No but lying about it isn't cool. The game is clearly not BROKEN as you keep stating.
No but lying about it isn't cool. The game is clearly not BROKEN as you keep stating.
How exactly am I lying?
in my opinion, this is EA's fault instead of maxis. EA has been desperate for money lately and have been trying to push out as many games as possible, all of which have been considered shitty (see: mass effect 3, dead space 3, simcity 2013, fifa 2013, etc.). all of which are from already established IPs, meaning they already have fanbases that will buy their shit regardless. they forced maxis to make cuts and made them push out the game as fast as possible, and probably made them put in the always online junk as well.
Even if Maxis said themself they fucked up, was that EA forcing them as well?
Maxis = EA.
So I'm a bad person for giving somebody my 100% honest input on the game I've owned for 10 days now? We post here because we enjoy SimCity despite some of its flaws. That aside, I think the patch that just got rolled out fixed traffic problems. I tried the expo center traffic thing and I noticed traffic going onto the avenue instead when the dirt road got to about 25% congestion.

[editline]15th March 2013[/editline] Might rebuild my city now then :d.
Even if Maxis said themself they fucked up, was that EA forcing them as well?
im sure they have a contract that doesn't allow them to talk shit about EA, so yeah probably
im sure they have a contract that doesn't allow them to talk shit about EA, so yeah probably
There will always be your kind of people, that never stops hating.
There will always be your kind of people, that never stops hating.
lmfao, just because i have criticisms about the game and how the situation is being handled? i thoroughly enjoy the game, and actually have more hours on it than you do judging from your other post. you don't have to be their white knight defending their every decision. reminds me of the whole mass effect 3 biodrones honestly.
lmfao, just because i have criticisms about the game and how the situation is being handled? i thoroughly enjoy the game, and actually have more hours on it than you do judging from your other post. you don't have to be their white knight defending their every decision. reminds me of the whole mass effect 3 biodrones honestly.
Mostly meant the EA hate thing. Is it really that hard to comprehend that Maxis actually fucked up without it being EAs fault? Maxis fucked up hard, they took responsibility for it, yet people are hating on EA. That's what I meant with your kind of people, always hating and never moves on.
I enjoy the game so far, but then again, I got it as a gift (so I'm not complaining about losing $60 etc). But seriously you guys... EA bought Maxis. They own them. You're not going to shit talk your boss at work, not matter how much you hate them (at least, you won't if you want to keep your job). I think 'Maxis' is showing tact in trying to handle the situation as best they can with EA hovering over. It's not even neccessarily hating on EA... it's just the truth. They oversee Maxis and make the shots, just like an boss would. So if EA tells them to do something (put in online only, take the fall for online only, etc) you bet your ass they'll do it.
Devs are on record for saying Maxis = EA.
I'm not disagreeing (obviously) but I'm actually curious if you have the source on that.
A "hold harmless" or "liability waiver" provision in a contract is an agreement between the parties whereby one or both parties agree not to hold the other party responsible for any loss, damage, or legal liability that may arise under the agreement.

To "indemnify" is to protect against or reimburse for damage, injury or loss.
Just saying this (Specifically, "Hold harmless and indemnify") has been in every contract I've ever laid eyes on that deals with two businesses doing anything with the other. Also, since they're tightly integrated with EA, it seems perfectly reasonable that they're trying to keep the blame off EA since they're already suffering from the effects of their investors being aggravated by customers losing confidence in their brand over ME3. If they lost even more confidence, they might lose even more of their shareholders.
Mostly meant the EA hate thing. Is it really that hard to comprehend that Maxis actually fucked up without it being EAs fault?
