Oh thank god, playing it once was boring enough. [editline]12th March 2013[/editline] That's odd, I don't see an invite.
My city so far. I'm having some issues with it, it has barely 37k inhabitants and I can't find a way to get more people in. I've checked most squares and moved things around to make space for more high-rises, so any time soon I'll be getting around 10 more buildings, yet nothing close of the 75k I need to upgrade my hall. It barely produces 4k/h and I can't raise taxes because the high-class starts bitching. Also my garbage disposal system is collapsing and my bus wait time is of 60 minutes. Anyone has any suggestions? [editline]12th March 2013[/editline] Also, what can I do with my oil?! how do I get money from it?!
You setup a trade depot with a crude oil lot, then tell it to sell it. If you pull enough out of the ground in a day, you can setup a petroleum HQ, and then setup a refining division and then be able to refine it and sell it as plastic and fuel for a higher price. But I hate how you have to pump a certain amount out per day, I wish it was overall because I don't have the resources to even do that much per day. But besides that, your city looks crazy inefficient. You have square lots but only one high rise can go into it.
Yeah I don't seem to get invites either
should've bought it when I could've on Origin india damnit
bah, i'm really looking to pick this game up. anyone know a good place to buy a key for cheaper than $60?
Yeah I don't seem to get invites either
restart simcity, should help
So I finally caved in and bought the limited edition through GMG. I'm pretty OCD about having the complete package, and seeing the town sets are up on GMG; exactly how much of a ripoff are they? Also, what are the mystery items? e:
bah, i'm really looking to pick this game up. anyone know a good place to buy a key for cheaper than $60?
GreenManGaming using the 20% voucher: GMG20-P4DLK-FKYRS

[editline]12th March 2013[/editline] Oh, it's not available from GMG in my region, that's why.
How exactly do i join a game online? Every region i see is either full or abandoned.

See those small buildings in the border of town? If I remove that last street that goes from side to side I can fit a shitton of buildings there now.
fuck it bought it aswell
Its frustrating to me that it's impossible to make a city that doesn't have industry and every educational institution inside it even though right next me I have both of those in other cities, because only about 10% of your population will ever actually bother to commute anywhere So now in my broke town I need to put down industry, then need to get a lot of education going so that industry isn't super low landvalue even though right across the river I have massive industry in one direction and a university in another direction. This fucking sucks because its very clear that if you make a university, you are expected to spend a crap ton of cash and space in your town dedicated to it, which means making a big city is pretty much impossible with one unless you seriously cut down on your real estate or play on a perfectly flat landmass. I was kind of hoping since I had a lot of industry and education in nearby cities the people in my big cities would commute there to get those needs fufilled but only a very tiny portion of my population does.... so the growth in my city is extremely small and i lose money as a conicquence of this because only 10% or so of the population actually does those things. [editline]12th March 2013[/editline] I think I'm gonna need to just give up and the only thing I can rely on my other cities for is utilities. Shame because I only have 20k and am only making 500/hr and I really wanted this city to focus on culture.

Shame because I only have 20k and am only making 500/hr and I really wanted this city to focus on culture.
I'm pretty sure at this point is that problems are these are directly a result of the Servers being shit. I feels like cities in a region are severely out of sync or never sync up at all because the load on the servers is too much or some bullshit like that. Like it'll tell me my neighbors are poor even hours after they've begun to make a tidy profit and dumb shit like that. So I have a feeling that if you make two cities, one for industry and one for residents, than they may not recognize that "Oh there are actually THINGS in that city" and never leave to go to them. I guess. That's my theory. I think the only reason utilities work are because they're user-specified. I can go and tell the game where I want my power to go, or what I want to trade with the rest of the world. Things like tourism, education and jobs are done by AI-serverside. Like I said, just my theory.
Is it possible to take down a Great Work later on?
Also another thing contributing to this issue (and the issue that the zoning guy always bitches about needing workers with super high industry demands) is that apparently, only about 10% of your population actually works: http://www.reddit.com/r/SimCity/comments/1a45av/10_of_my_population_can_work_cant_believe_how/ This is a massive oversight/bug, that basically means 90% of your population doesn't ever do anything making your demands unfufilled. Unless this is either: 1. A UI bug (aka your population is working, but the UI is borked so everyone thinks you need workers even if you don't) 2. Uses condensed info. IE 1 physical sim on the street might represent 5-6 or so actual sims on your population meter, but the "workers" page only counts the physical sim as a bug. So you real worker population is 50-60% versus 10% (which makes sense considering elderly and children). 3. The worker numbers only reflect the exact amount of people working at industry only at that exact moment, instead of ALL people who are employed in all fields (education, industry, commercial, etc).
Zombie invasions are the biggest load of bullshit i've ever encountered in any game ever.
Zombie invasions are the biggest load of bullshit i've ever encountered in any game ever.
What's it like?
When I had a zombie invasion I didn't even notice what effect it was supposed to have on my city. It killed about 10 sims and that was it. :v:
What's the criteria for the free game thang? I hear it's for anyone who bought/played the game before the day the intend to give the free game out.

I didn't realize there was an official page about it? (Assuming that's why you meant by reading "it"). Ah well, we'll see on the 18th I guess.

This is because everyone always makes casino/criminal towns. Every one of my towns have shit tons of criminals because of this.
Most likely going to pick this game up from the store tomorrow, I've been watching SimCity streams for the entire week and I want to play it myself now.
So my disk finally arrived. It only has 1.8GB on it. Fuck you EA.
Getting random power and water shortages even though my production levels are perfectly fine. Is this a feature or a bug? [editline]12th March 2013[/editline] also, what is this? http://telemetry.simcity.com/simcity/
