I took the windows keys out of my keyboard a loong time ago because I kept minimizing shit. :v:
what if I want to lean around corners?
used to use TFGH for garry's mod
Huh, never thought that OP. I'll try it next time I play an FPS.
Good luck switching weapons quickly.
Only issue with using a keypad here, is that if i'd move my keyboard to the left, my keyboard would fall off the table.
I use it's so comfy
If I try to use the keypad it feels like I'm trying to get all of my fingers as close as I can to each other, mostly my pinky and thumb. I can see why it would be okay with your pointer, middle, and ring finger, but again, my pinky and thumb feel extremely uncomfortable if I try to use them.
Only use thumb for Enter, delete and insert
Pinky isn't used at all, it just rests wherever
what if I want to lean around corners?
Use delete and insert (bottom keys)
Why on earth would you ever put jump over a directional button so you can't strafejump that direction?
I've noticed a lot of people questioning the placement for these keys and saying it's terrible, I see why. But after 7 or so years of using these it's never been a problem. I just push 7 real quick and go back to 4.

SO HARDCORE
And judging from the Dumbs I'm getting, this isn't for everyone and it's just a Goobert thing.

You're lucky. I've done it dozens of times.
Actual amazing alternative to WSAD: ESDF. More keys around the 4 for more bindable actions :>. Used in the old old days as the default by a few games. :)
Tribes 2 did this I believe.
Keypads are really nice. But i don't use them anymore for 2 simple reasons.
First, it's on the wrong site of the keyboard.
Second, i don't have it on my laptop.
Thanks for the tip, but I'll stick to WASD
That... actually looks like it'd work really well. The only problem is that the keypad is all the way on the right of the keyboard and it's uncomfortable having my hands right next to each other.
Having to rebind nearly every key for every PC game that I play is not going to make it worth while.
Having to rebind nearly every key for every PC game that I play is not going to make it worth while.
No I mean just rebind for like one game and see if it works for you.
But dude, the WASD layout is near perfect. Just putting my index, middle and ring finger on it I can see that my pinky naturally rests on shift (for sprint) and my thumb on space for jumping. Also, my movement controlling fingers don't have to move to use jump and sprint keys, like your numpad layout, only function keys (Q, E, F, G,... and the weapon numbers for the WASD fingers and Y, X, C, V... for the space finger (thumb)). You also don't have to switch input devices or move your hand waaay left if you want to type.
Oh, and the lefties I know of that actually reconfigure use IJKL
I just want to know how the OP does a crouched Sprint-jump to the left.

I used to use ESDF; Tribes 2 had it as the default control setup. Just got tired of rebinding it for every game, and in simulators you have to rebind a dozen controls if you change the movement controls from WASD to ESDF :argh:
I want my movement fingers to be on their representative keys as much as possible. Having to sacrifice movement to jump/crouch or whatever seems horrible.
My setup is weird to most, and has been used since Quake...
All the buttons close, move like 1 finger period
Left Mouse Click = Primary Fire
Right Mouse Click = Move Forward
A = Jump
C = Crouch
S = Strafe Left
D = Strafe Right
E = use
F= Alt Fire/Ironsights
Space = Move back
Shift = Sprint/melee
I don't know it just feels weird to move forward with W, almost as though I were turning with a key instead of mouse
Also if I need to eat or have a terrible itch, I can still fully play the game with move and shoot on my mouse
I've never done it, but I hear people bitch about it all the time.
It's not that hard to avoid it.
or you know to stop being stupid all around and rip it off
WASD is so good though, because I always set E to use, R to Reload, Left Shift to Sprint, Space to jump, Left control to crouch, and V to Voice chat. It's such a nice conservative setup.
If I had a camera I would just record my hands using the keypad while I play a game. Just so you can see how I can do it all no problem, including crouch jumping left
Everyone knows that arrow keys is the only form of transportation in any game.

It happens to me often. because the alt and ctrl keys on my keyboard are really small.
