I can't wrap my mind around playing any sort of FPS with the arrow keys.
:psyduck: HOW
Simple.
Jump is MMB
Aim is NUM 5
Melee is RMB
Grenade is Mouse 5
Numpad? Arrows?
Seems annoying to move your keyboard around so you can have one hand on the mouse.

Err, why would you have to do that? Is your keyboard as large as a CPU case?

Arrow keys is what I use. It's like the brother to keypad.
except it's the ergonimc equivalent of death and trying to play games with it is like trying to wank when you're a quadruple amputee

Yes.

:smith:
why would you NOT use WASD, it's perfect
I remember using the arrow keys when I just started gaming then switched to wasd when I played a game where I had to jump, never looked back

the g15 is a huge motherfucker, I had one and it was pretty cool before I spilled coffee on it and half the keys stopped working
except it's the ergonimc equivalent of death and trying to play games with it is like trying to wank when you're a quadruple amputee
That is rather colorful. Also what is bad for you is not bad for others you should realize.
I have big hands so it feels weird on the little numpad. I'm so used to wasd now that even trying esdf feels weird.
I've been using the arrow keys due to being left handed. Should I switch to IJKL instead?
except it's the ergonimc equivalent of death and trying to play games with it is like trying to wank when you're a quadruple amputee
Why? Arrows are move, right shift is jump, right control is crouch, enter is use, numpad 0 is sprint, ect.
the g15 is a huge motherfucker, I had one and it was pretty cool before I spilled coffee on it and half the keys stopped working
How does that even happen
The G15 has drain channels under the keybed through the base for exactly that kind of accident
What a waste of money.
What, a cheap keypad is too much for you?
6 Core Processor, 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 560 Ti, what were you saying?
ah well then, you're talking complete bullshit.
I hate when the game's default controls have crouching mapped to C. It feels so much more comfortable a s CTRL because you rest your pinky on it.
Tried keypad setup in a couple of games(Just cause 2, tf2, Cod 4, Civ 5 Demo) and i don't like it at all. It makes it easier for me to hit buttons by accident. In a normal setup, you can place less used keys futher away, and have a more flexible arrangement , in a keypad set-up, the keys are too close together, and to get access to other keys outside the keypad is a stretch. I'm keeping wasd
I'm on a laptop. The Numpad is out of the question for me. It'd be like moving the monitor to the left making things awkward for perspectives.

Yep, they're present in basically every keyboard and it did nothing to stop my retardation from wrecking it. I blame myself.
i used to play like this:
mouse one - fire
mouse two - move forward
a- jump
s - left
d - right
f - backwards
z - crouch
space - jump
g - zoom in
but i use wasd now
I need way more keys than that.
And without going off on a long tl;dr:
No op, just no.
Shit, I remember playing UT99 for two years with the arrow keys before my brother showed me how magical the wsad keys were. I never went back to arrows after getting over the small amount of awkwardness there was getting used to wsad. I played fucking BUNNYTRACK with the arrow keys, god damn difficult it was.
Judging by the key descriptions on the OP, all the OP plays is CoD.
The best control schemes use Mouse4 as their forward key. For those searching for a full config, here's my typical layout:
Mouse4 = Forward
Arrows = Other directions
Mouse5 = Use
Mouse3 = Flashlight
then defaults for everything else usually
Whoever thought of using wasd is a genius.
First game I played that had it as default was Rainbow six - I thought 'what the fuck is this' and changed it all back to arrow keys :v:
TFGH, with 4, 5, 6, 7, and the surrounding letters.
Best set up.

best analogy ever
Or just be normal and use a normal keyboard?
I remember playing with the arrow keys when I was a child and wondered why I was dying so much in Delta Force 2, besides having a shit computer, then one day people were talking about using wasd and how it was better than arrow keys, and so it was.

I can play DF 2 just fine with arrows.
WASD for moving, space for jump, c for crouch, reload/grenades/miscs on the mouse.
don't see the problem.
The only game I have ever used my number/key pad is for building in blockland. I don't see any use for it in most other FPS games I play.

forward+right+crouch
you have to shift your whole hand
ctrl for crouch all the way
I use WASD for movement, Capslock for sprint, shift for crouch.
I have tiny hands
