I really want to get into this game, but I just can't seem to get better. I always seems to die so fast and do so little damage. What are some great tips for beginners? My favorite 'nauts so far are Lonestar and that one snowboarding chick.

Kill bots, don't feed.

That's not helpful. Isn't it kind of expected for you to kill the bots?

Remember to buy health at regular intervals. I see too many newbies getting steamrolled because they don't buy health. Regen is okay but this game is all about burst damage.
For Lonestar buy extra stick and bouncy dynamite as soon as possible along with some health. Also he is the king of kiting with his boots you can easily kite the bigger nauts to their deaths. Always be killing bots as lonestar since his dynamite wipes waves. Don't use bull too often or you will get a build up bots you won't be able to kill and poke the turrets as much as you can.
For Coco focus on her ball damage, range, and whatever-else you have. Heavenly Fire is the the best choice for the last slot but you won't get that for awhile and It says she is a brawler but just keep back and zone.
edit:holy shit this post was a mess. I should stop posting when tired.

Lonestar's main goal is to push lanes down and counter push when they're pushing. Invest in exploding bull and get it ASAP, otherwise you're just making a droid train to rush in and demolish everything. You should generally avoid scrapping unless you've pumped money into blaster or you get a few sticks of face-dynamite in.
Even if there aren't droids around, use the exploding bull and crazy range of dynamite to poke their turrets down. My general build for Lonestar is bull + exploding bull first then to build into dynamite. You should always have the triple stick upgrade, no excuse. It gives an extra 20 damage and an extra 7 hp if you invest in the lifesteal upgrade, which I advise doing as it allows you to stay in lane practically forever.
Use Lonestars boot upgrade to confuse enemies and juke them with the triple jump, try to psych them out. And in teamfights, just toss dynamite and shoot shit.
I also advise investing in booming bullets in games where people are turtling hard, since you can just stand on top of their drill and let the explosion size hit it. Although this is needed less now since you can get behind the enemy drill by wiping out all their turrets.
Hey guys, me and FlaktheMighty thought it'd be a good idea to get a facepunch group going for Awesomenauts.
Check it so we can organize some games!

I'm amazed and happy to see this thread is still posted in. I need people to play with so I absolutely joined the fp group, [sp]But I mainly play cats derpl because I hate metagame so I'm probably useless :>[/sp]
If you want weird builds that aren't great but you can kind of make work with a team, I suppose I'm the person to talk to.
Also eggplant joined the last game I was in and I understandably went 3/10, guy's scary.
I love this game, but I tend to have a 2 or 3 day binge and then stop for a bit because I've had enough.
