X-ray can be more amazing that Cryengine 2 that's for sure, and if they totally revamp the engine ( x-ray 2.0 ) it would be even better.

Yeah, it can, but seeing as the guy responsible for the engine left GSC while Stalker wasn't even finished, I doubt it's gonna happen. (He went to 4A games by the way lol)

But I have to say that the X-ray engine probably has the best backwards compatibility I've ever seen. In DX9 mode with everything set to high it runs at extremely high frame rates. Then you activate DX10 and it all goes down the crapper.

I wasn't implying that, I loved crysis and the engine blew my mind, but playing stalker on the crytek engine would just make me feel like I'm playing crysis again. See my point?
It's not like every game on the engine will look like Crysis. It's all in the art assets, not the engine.

I wouldn't want them to replace the XRay engine. I just like the visuals of it, how it handles light and such.
