Mlisen14, it was $50 when they first put it up. They removed it after a day or so.
Then they put it back up for $80, which is what it is now. That's 80USD by the way.
Find someone in the US you can buy it from for $50, then have them gift it for you.

Or, the way I did it, go to the US steam site, use a spare account and gift it to your proper account.
Also, Aussies (and presumably Europeans) can play it early using a VPN.

Select USAIP PPTP California II
Enter username and password as 'demo'
Log into Steam
Double-click Metro 2033 to start unlocking files
When it's finished, go into offline mode and play

It's exactly what I did to play Borderlands before official release, everything worked fine for that.
Only problem I'm having with Metro 2033 is that it doesn't want to start because I'm missing a 'X3DAudio1_7.dll' and I can't install a new DirectX to try to fix it.
I'm picking it up later today. :dance:

Zips posted his specs, he was using a Q6600, 6GB RAM, an 8800GTX, on high at 1900x1280 (or whatever) and he said it ran great, but noticeable slowdown with very high settings. So I should be able to run this, my computer has a crappy resolution and at times I absolutely love it

Well it's a very good game so far, very intense and the atmosphere is fantastic.
I'm running it on normal at 1680x1050 and getting about 20-40FPS. Bits with lots of people make it quite choppy, but the rest is pretty smooth.
Specs: Q6600 @ 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, SLI 512MB 8800GT
Yeah 2 or 3 people on screen botch my fps completely, but mutants are fine. Weird.
A word of caution, don't smoke the pipes in-game. If you do, you are in for an experience...
Some screenshots. Keep in mind I'm running this with a Geforce 8800 GTS so it can barely handle it on High DX9. Game still looks great despite this. I can't imagine what DX11 on max must look like.
So yea jaggies. Also fraps ignored my gamma settings so they are a bit dark.

I'm running at max settings + DX11 20-40 FPS at 1440x900 with:
E7200 @ 3GHz
4GB RAM DDR2
5770 1GB DDR5
I'm running on normal dx9 1920x1080 20-70fps
I have the same processor as you but on stock speed, same amount of RAM (using XP though) and a 9800GT 512MB
It'd probably run fine on high but you can't turn AO off. I wish the settings had more depth.
