Something I think people failed to realise about this game is that it is LINEAR.
Okay, so I've been playing so far and all I can say with, the game is fucking incredible. At first I didn't think it was that great because the controls and shooting take alittle time to get used too but you get the hang of it soon enough. Looting is a great system, the weapons are interesting, the story is compelling and the in-game world is awesome. The outdoor levels can only be described as beautiful. I think I'm about half-way through the game right now, I doubt it though this game is huge and it'll take you awhile to finish no doubt. Alot of attention to detail, the people feel very real and I got attached to alot of them. Their humor is good too. There are alot of scary moments, (Again, I'm a coward) As a avid fan of Post-Apocalyptic fiction this is an incredible game by all regards. What cons do I have? Three very minor ones; * The shooting is a bit hard to get used too, but all together after the first mission you barely notice it and you get used to it by far, infact I sort of like it. It's very realistic how the weapon fires, handles, reloads, etc. etc. and the movement speed and all are also very good. (I started writing this as a con and half way through made it a pro.. FFF this game is good) * The place is a maze sometimes. I've gotten lost maybe, four or five times for ten or twenty minutes going around in circles, literally unable to find my way out of the loop. Especially when you find a new route and think you found the way out, only to come out in a 'new' room and realize you were just in it. * Combat - Sometimes the mutants will bum rush you and make it hard to kill any of them or keep them at a distance, impossible in some cases. In addition, I often found mutants no-clipping inside of you so they could deal damage while you didn't even see them until you moved or looked straight down. (Minor problem, really. I don't think it's noclipping, I just think that because they're hunched over it's hard to see them beating the living shit out of you.) So far, 9/10 Shit you not.
oh my goodness i had not realized it was linear
Something I think people failed to realise about this game is that it is LINEAR.
No, I'm pretty sure we all realized that.
No, I'm pretty sure we all realized that.
speak for yourself
Something I think people failed to realise about this game is that it is LINEAR.
Why do people keep acting like this is a bad thing? The game is already worth my fifty bucks and I haven't even finished it yet, not even close.
Linear games aren't bad.
Half Life series were linear. Not a bad thing now is it?
One more thing I've noticed. The time on your watch syncs up with the actual time.
I like the details. The bullet wounds, gasmasks falling off, watch time, etc.
Why is my Metro 2033 randomly updating and taking forever :argh:
Even Xbox users have to update when they first play. (I assume you're a PC user)
Did anyone else notice that you could shoot the gasmasks off of guys outside, and watch them choke to death? :v:
buying game asap
Granted, it takes all of twelve seconds for me.
Did anyone else notice that you could shoot the gasmasks off of guys outside, and watch them choke to death? :v:
been doing that with my shotgun bayonet but sometimes they have a spare and replace it so its best to finish them off
anyone play the Xbox version? if so how are the graphics and controls?
Did anyone else notice that you could shoot the gasmasks off of guys outside, and watch them choke to death? :v:
... Someone give me $50.
Anyone here Russian who has read Metro 2034? Is it good? It's published online by the way but in Russian.
i will admit, from the screenshots it does look pretty nice. but it's undeniable, it looks a fuckload like stalker. i do want the game though.
anyone play the Xbox version? if so how are the graphics and controls?
Graphics are incredible. Controls take some getting used too but they grow on you in no time. The only redeeming quality the PC version has right now are trainers. (Too early for them though) [editline]12:13AM[/editline]
i will admit, from the screenshots it does look pretty nice. but it's undeniable, it looks a fuckload like stalker. i do want the game though.
It's nothing like STALKER. You loot bodies and that's the only thing I found that would remind me of Stalker. Mutant combat too, I guess. It's a stand-alone game, nothing like Stalker if you as me. I've played all three games and I've been an avid stalker fan this entire time.
Still no gore pictures. What the hell, man?
Not that much gore in these, but you can see a few examples.
Lots of bad pictures.
Those aren't very good examples at all. Six and Seven are pretty accurate, the rest show nothing.
Those aren't very good examples at all.
Well yeah, no shit sherlock, it's better than nothing, post your own screenshots if you're going to be nit picky about it. I was just posting my screenshots, I only quoted him because a couple had gore in them.
Those aren't very good examples at all. Six and Seven are pretty accurate, the rest show nothing.
I was disappointed.
Well yeah, no shit sherlock, it's better than nothing, post your own screenshots if you're going to be nit picky about it.
I have the xbox version, I could take pictures of the Tv but that'd do it no justice. They wanted example of gore. Most of those pictures didn't have any, ontop of which the ones that do (With the exception of the two mutant ones) are all pre-rendered. (They didn't happen directly as a result of the player) Also, those two in the cart are sleeping, out cold. They're not dead, if someone who hasn't played the game saw them they'd assume they were dead and go "What is this? Why are they dead? There is nothing wrong with them." [editline]12:27AM[/editline]
I was disappointed.
Six and Seven are quick-time events. They're a bit blurry since they're pictures, a video of it would have been better. Again, it doesn't do it justice. [editline]12:28AM[/editline]
I was just posting my screenshots, I only quoted him because a couple had gore in them.
That's different, I assumed you were posting direct examples of gore as per-request.
Still want the game, badly. I need more cash. I also want the book.
Still want the game, badly. I need more cash. I also want the book.
FFFFF The book is impossible to find in English. No one has it, the people who do offer it only offer it used and typically the price ranges anywhere from 40-60 bucks.
Anyone here Russian who has read Metro 2034? Is it good? It's published online by the way but in Russian.
I have a Russian friend that was able to translate it for me to English via typing it out. It was a really good book and the game I think is a lot similar to it. If I find the .doc file of it I'll try to see if I can upload it. Note though that this was some years ago and i've gone through two Hard drive since then so please don't hold your breath. I'd also like to point out the possible sequel to Metro 2033
Metro 2034 Metro 2034, a sequel to Metro 2033 has sold some 300.000 copies in just 6 months, making it Russia’s biggest local bestseller in 2009. The book has also been published online for free on Metro 2034 Official Web Site, where over a million visitors have read the text. Glukhovsky has turned a book into an art-project, inviting famous Russian electronic performer Dolphin to write an original soundtrack for the novel, while artist Anton Gretchko worked on the oil-painted images gallery.
From Wikipedia.
