Some gun sounds I've heard are the same as stalker sounds, GSC probably got those in the same sound bank the metro team did.
damn this game is strangely optimized, Im maxed out dx9 (well it says dx9 but apparently i'm getting object motion blur and other dx10 effects) with whatever AA it gave me and 4x AF and ambient occlusion, and it runs amazingly most of the time (like 40-50 fps) but, for instance, in the first five minutes when I was in the library my fps dropped down into the tens.

Anyone find the [sp]bong[/sp]?
Is it possible to have ADVANCED settings instead of the lame low, medium, high, and very high?
I don't think there are two endings, I shot the transmitter and tried everything to change the ending. Well the game was awesome although ending wasn't that spectacular though these aliens are mad and all but a lot of things are still unexplained.
From what I understood the game followed the book very closely. Most likely that was the end to Metro 2033 and more then likely it's expanded upon in the sequel, Metro 2034.
I hope the sequel leans more to STALKER tendencies of Free world roam type game play. This game is absolutely brilliant, but it's missing that.
That would be a nice touch.
Also, there may be another ending, I think I may be wrong.
Dunno if this have been mentioned, but there will most likely be a sequel.

It got kind of annoying seeing every other poster and book was Metro 2033, in the game, Metro 2033.
It wasn't even subtle.
I can't wait for the sequel. This game is amazing, and the Ghosts thing was so innovative.
Spoilers ahead about the different endings:
[sp]
The alternative ending (good) is achieved by giving ammo to the beggar and the child and refusing ammo from the mother, also using stealth while possible, not sure if there is some other triggers other then those.
Destruction of "dark ones" is the one ending you could consider as true as it is in line with* the book (on which game is based).[/sp]
Would you have to be completely unnoticed for all of the stealth parts, or just attempting stealth?
Massive spoiler here, don't look unless you've beat the game.
[sp]The end was like a bad LSD trip, the first time I died and fell off the tower scared the hell out of me admittedly. The ending was pretty neat, I thought it was a bit short though, and it was kind of a cliffhanger.[/sp]
Does the ending hint off to a sequel/ do you people think that there is going to be a sequel/what are the chances of a sequel in your opinion?
Would you have to be completely unnoticed for all of the stealth parts, or just attempting stealth?
I think attempting, the stealth thing is more of a rumor I think. I guess it would be like, instead of killing the "Librarians" or whatever those gorilla things are you stare them down and sneak away without harming them or something.
Take that part with a grain of salt.

Other than [sp]The massive cliffhanger and the fact that other than the lack of dark ones there is still an apocalyptic wasteland and the metro leaving plenty of room for a sequel[/sp] no.

I didn't kill any of them.
EDIT:
Actually I did kill one because it cornered me so I threw two throwing knives into its face then beat the shit out of it with a trench knife.
I did. Which ending did you get, good or bad?
fuck damn why does it take three shotgun shots or more at point blank range to kill something
Radiation? >_>
If it could make demon bat monsters, what can it not do?
(I have played it, but I am assuming that their mutants, right?)
I love throwing knives into peoples eyes :3:
People say this kind of thing every time any game does this.
The sounds are not from Half-Life 2.
They're from a sound-bank, usable by any company that makes games (probably for a fee).
lol wow, what fuckin idiot said they were from half life 2? I've never heard some of these sounds in my life, and i'm amazed at some of the effects the guns have. I'm not completely sure, but i also believe that bombs in this actually have deformable explosions, since when i threw a bomb to into a room above me, i didn't see it's explosion sprite/effects break through any geometry.
So far i'm VERY impressed with how good it looks and how well it runs on my computer and how immersive the environments and storyline are. I'm about 3 - 4 hours in, and so far, it's pretty damn compelling.

Then have you not played Half Life 2? >_>
fuck damn why does it take three shotgun shots or more at point blank range to kill something
I've managed to kill a large number of creatures in 2 shots with the first shotgun you get that's double barrel at medium range. Then again i'm playing on normal.

I use the semi-semi-automatic shotgun all the time and it's usually all good aside from the fact that once I hit the [sp]child[/sp] level with those creatures it began to horribly suck
Then have you not played Half Life 2? >_>
Clearly you have not either, because as much as you want to believe it, the sounds aren't from it... Please, get me a video comparison if your so willing to prove your point.
I use the semi-semi-automatic shotgun all the time and it's the only weapon that pisses me off because I don't use crosshairs and I have no way to aim it
..... wut?
..... wut?
The player character fires four rounds out of six then has to cock the gun for some odd reason
could you people quit comparing this game to fucking everything that exists, some of the sounds are taken from free databases which happen to be in stalker or half-life

Calm down, not here to start a fight, I am just going off what I have heard billions of times in the past.
I have not played this game yet, but I have seen tons of posts about how it has used the same sounds as in HL2. Even some of my friends have said the same, one of them has logged more hours in HL2 than anyone I've known.
I suppose you would be right in saying the sounds aren't from Half Life either. HL2 did not make these sounds, just used them. They are simply free sounds that can be used by any developer. Just so happens Metro and Half Life used the same sound database. Its not rare to hear sounds crossed over from game to game, hell, even some movies used videogame sounds.

Yes, but the "IT COPIED HAF LEIF TOO" insult is getting fucking rediculous.
