If you have to empty 2 clips from an AK to kill 3 mutants on easy, you suck.
I can kill 3 mutants on normal using a clip at the most. Aim for the head.
As for the clipping through you to your backside, yeah that's kinda annoying, but the knife is actually pretty effective. Whip that bitch out and start swinging; saved my ass more than a few times.

I'm playing on Normal and people die easily enough from 1 headshot, provided you don't hit their armour, aim for the neck or fire 1 round at their face to knock off the silly faceshield thing and then just fire another round at their face.
Mutants seem to take more damage but not overly so..well apart from the librarians but they're a tougher breed. Hit damage seems to be okay for me, can't say I've had trouble killing..

I can't say for sure that i suck, I'm looking down the ironsites, firing in bursts, making sure every bullet hits them...Maybe i just got used to MW2 and BC2 where a bullet anywhere effects them; Maybe i just need to aim for the head more often. Just kinda hard while you have 5 sprinting at you, Humans maybe would be easier since they stand still but...I'm not used to games where you actually have to AIM to kill someone, I'm not used to a developer actually putting work into making a good game rather than a shitty one stuck in the stone-age, Never really played a game where they used real hit-points rather than just overall health. I'll try out what you guys have mentioned, i came in expecting MW2 gameplay and got my ass kicked.
As i said earlier i have never really played any stalker game, which this closely resembles, so i didn't know what to expect.

What I've noticed playing the game, running back to get away from the mutants coming at you only fucks up your situation more. Just stand your ground and take shots at them, and head shots make so much of a difference. If and when mutants get up next to you, use your knife.

Any recommendations on what guns to buy? As said, i have an Auto Shotgun, is there something better i can buy to put in that spot? Maybe a different type of shotgun, or a different gun altogether?

Pneumatic weapons are the alternative as they share the same slot with shotguns. They can be bought but various types show up in missions. I never touched one on account of not having enough ammo / a mortal fear of losing my automatic shotgun. You can also get an automatic shotgun with a bayonet from one of the stores or Sparta (at which point you're given a selection of decent guns for free). There might be one lying around, I don't know.
Most people seem to give the spear gun high praise. Like throwing knives, you can recover the shots if they land or stick somewhere you can reach.

I actually use the .44 with the scope, extended barrel, and silencer whenever I have ammo for it otherwise I just use an AK with a scope and the auto-shotgun with a bayonet as backup for when I don't have ammo for that.

OK guys, got another problem. Just got to uh...Hole station i think it was? I can't remember for sure but it's when you go topside for the second time. You are warned of a Nazi Outpost ahead if it helps you remember.
Anyways, I've got 5 filters...And can find no place to buy more, and can't seem to scavenge any off of dead bodies, resulting in me suffocating out there. I checked all the shops inside and it seems like no one sells them? I can't find any, anywhere
I'm stuck on Outpost after inserting the tape so the broadcast goes out. I go down the ladder and try to enter that one place with the destroyed cars but I always die. It never tells me how I died either. I turned around while going through that open gate and it wasn't those dragon things. I still died.

I reinstalled the game, but no dice.

No, it isn't. I jumped above the general area I keep dying at and I keep dying in the air. I killed the dragon creatures too. There is no usual redness you get on your screen when dying, just blackness and a groan.

You have an installer of it in the "install" folder, in the root folder of the game.
