Silly question here, but how does the game look and feel on the Xbox 360? My Laptop can run it, but I fear that all I will experience is a pretty slide-show akin to a powerpoint presentation.
The graphics on the Xbox version are slightly better than the Low setting on the PC.

I bought it for my '360 and I have to say the game is still absolutely gorgeous. Never had any technical problems either such as FPS drops or freezes. Loading times were quick to boot.
Finished the game with the default ending (I refuse to call it bad, since the Dark Ones' stance on diplomatic relations was less than friendly). I wish this game would allow you to start new games while carrying over all of your equipment from previously completed campaigns.
Does anyone know when, or if, the Metro 2033 novel will have an American release soon?
The English language version of the novel has been released in the UK at least, so you could buy it from the UK Amazon:

I love you.
This game is awesome. It is what STALKER should have striven to be.
Excellent graphics, runs well, good gameplay, and unique HUD.
anyone got a trainer?
Use a memory editor like Artmoney, deduce what address holds the ammo/money and buy something good.
Stalker is Stalker, this game went it's own way.
I'm glad they both turned out so diverse.

Uh, no. STALKER is completely different. Open world, side missions, few cutscenes, vastly better AI. While Metro 2033's world is an interesting one, saying STALKER should have been like this is like saying that Morrowind should have been more like Dark Messiah.

No, its just stalker with better graphics

I like the atmosphere better. It is also more polished because it is smaller and more focused.
as much as i understand this is not stalker, you've seen my picture with the guitar player, well also there's this

Stalker was in 2012? This is 2033, Strelok moved to russia it seems.
Anyone know when the novel is coming out in the US? And what is Metro 2034 about anyway?
What I love about this game is the fact that Artyom is only an actor in this whole story. Unlike in HL where everything depends on you and turns around the player. In this one you're just a simply guy given a task and you travel through the metros trying to survive and get into unfortunate situations and disasters. The whole world feels dynamic and realistic in a sense.
Also these nosalisis are enemys which aren't common in games. Most games have simply bandits, zombies, some generic monsters but these mutants are strange and fascinating and you don't really know how to fight them off. It's an unknown enemy type and the somewhat "clunky" shooting adds the feeling of being fucked and absolutely underwhelmed. And these creatures, goddamn look at their fucking face, holy shit what the fuck. You're not an one-man army. I've played on the first playthrough on hardcore without hints and crosshair.
Only then you can experience this wonderful game in a good way.

Uh, what part of "everything depends on you, Artyom" didn't you understand? I mean, they say that in the first scene of the game, too.
First scene of the game is closer to the last scene of the game.
Is there anywhere I can get the Hellsing if I missed it in the Dead City?
First scene of the game is closer to the last scene of the game.
That's because the first scene of the game IS the last scene of the game, more or less.

You can buy it at the Armory for a hilariously bloated price.

You can also find one right before the "child" chapter.
How do I fight the [sp]librarians? That guy was about to tell me something about them but he got cut off when that flying bastard came in.[/sp]

In a sense yes, but nobody gives a real shit about you. I mean you don't get excellent gear and stuff, you're just a simply guy given a mission from a friend. The world around you moves and you're only a character going past them.
In Half-life 2 I had always that feeling that everything turns around you. Totally over the top like.
Just beat it, fucking awesome game.

I fought all of them in the first encounters. I basically kept switching between my revolver, smg, and shotgun constantly all while trying to conserve my ammo. Later when you had to leave the library I just killed one of them and ran from the rest. You get more ammo and new weapons in the next level anyway.

I see what you're saying, but it's really only true until you reach Polis. After that it's "take this gear, we're going to devote all our resources to helping you." Not to say that the Library and D6 weren't completely awesome.

I find the speargun particularly effective for killing Librarians

The best way to fight them is to not fight them. Just maintain eye contact, and keep backing away when they walk towards you, and eventually they leave you alone. Just get your ass to the elevator as quickly as possible.

I fucking loved D-6, it's awesome to roll with your squad and they're funny and relaxed and all. Great atmosphere and all, yes in the end you're pretty much a hero and all. But for a long time you're only a simple idiot walking around.
D-6 is kinda like the movie aliens compared to the rest of the game before it
The big fat blob was a bit unexpected, yes I must say.

That part was the worst part in the game and felt completely rushed and shitty.
