I played this at a friends house and got it myself today.
Only after I installed it, once I press play, it immediately crashes before the game even fucking opens.
I get this error message reading 'This application has failed to start because PhysXLoader.dll was not found.'

Also, am I the only one who really dislike the weapon sounds in this game?
Military ammo sounds have more oomph

Install PhysX even if you're on an ATI card.
Those small creatures in Defense are a real pain to fight. I basically said screw it to trying to find all the ammo in Hole Station.
I'm still unsure how this whole gasmask filter system works, could someone explain it?
Also fighting humen on the surface is fun, while I was bored I tried out something like this (without the barrel ofcourse).
The image if of a space whale with deathstars shooting lasers at it
didn't know that's possible in the game

Your watch tells you how long your current filter will last. When a filter is getting used up, your mask will fog up and you'll start to breathe in a more gaspy way. You can then press (NOT HOLD) G to replace the filter, or wait for the game to do it automatically to save on filters if you don't mind the fogging+gasping.
This game is win with the rechargeable flashlight system and with the gas masks. One question though, does the mask still work even if you have a hole in it?

Yeah it can still work. It's just like a condom with a hole in it but you still use it anyways. It works.
Spoilers ahoy
[sp]That part near the end with the blob thing was fucking irritating for me. The ending was sweet though. Is the ending with the missiles destroying the Dark Ones base-like-thing the good ending? I heard something about multiple endings and wondered which one I got. Oh and the part with the Dark Ones chase scene and all the trippy shit was hella awesome[/sp]

It's the bad ending, but it's the ending for the book. The good ending is the alternate one. By the way what is that in your avatar?
[sp]In the good ending you have the choice to destroy them or not. Search it up on Youtube.[/sp]

Ah, that's weird, seemed like a good ending for me, guess I'll go look up the good ending, don't feel like playing it all over again right this second.
Also it's a fox chick, 'cause I'm a furry and shit.

O-kay.....
This game is really great. I love all the small details.
[editline]08:06PM[/editline]
Although, does anyone else find it impossible to buy guns because they're so expensive?
I need an honest opinion, is the game worth it? I love games that have an apocalyptic depth to them, and I really like the plot of the game. If it's great I'll head over to a retail store since I also like the box art.

Sometimes.
I mostly don't buy stuff because I feel like I'll need the money later. I skipped out on the stealth suit, and now I wish I grabbed it. (but I only had 200 at the time; 100 felt like too much)
Is there any other place to get a stealth suit? Does it even work?

Yes! I love how ammunition and medkits are actually physically on the body itself.
Started a new playthrough on hardcore, killed the first two librarians with a combination of throwing knives and the normal knife.
notable difference in librarian difficulty between normal and hardcore but still, not that hard to take them down.
Make that the first four.
Finally got it to work now and damn... I don't think I've ever played a game with this much atmospheric depth.
When I got to the surface and put on my gas mask, I almost caught myself breathing with Artyom, the sound design is absolutely fantasic (though a few guns need a little work imo, as well as damage again, shotguns are by far the most useless weapons in the game, though the revolver kicks quite large amounts of ass). Overall, I feel - most of the time - completely immersed in the game, the little details are also great, and the supernatural events (the visions and shit that the Dark Ones give you) are awesomely freaky.
Anyone think some cool mods will come from this game?

If they release an SDK, maybe, but it's a linear game so probably not.
If they release an SDK, maybe, but it's a linear game so probably not.
Because it's so linear I don't know what they are going to do with the DLC.
For me I hope it has to do with the dark ones, more interaction between you and them, which I wish there was more of. Maybe go to the dark ones' area[sp]whether or not you destroyed it.[/sp]
For anyone who has read/reading the book, do they talk about the dark ones more so than in the game?
If they release an SDK, maybe, but it's a linear game so probably not.
That will probably cause the downfall of the series if there will be no sequels. The fact that you can't mod a good game like this, and the fact that it's very linear could cause the game to slowly die out.
Unfortunatley, if they start doing the sequels there's a high chance they'll milk the franchise and kill the old generation of Eastern European games.

Stealth suit? I was under the impression that it was just better armor.
Where the FUCK is the stealth / heavy suit? I've never seen anyone sell shit like that. Screenshots, maybe? Preferably at the next pit stop after commie / red level.
There's two guys sitting down at the fascist station, talk to either one, one is selling a heavy suit the other the stealth suit.
Can you get either of the later in the game? I'm JUST past the frontlines on my second playthrough.
Yeah I think you can get them at Polis
I might not have been looking, but I thought there was only an armored suit at Polis.
You don't really need too much stealth after that anyway.
