What about empiresmod?
Empiresmod is like BZ2, but better.
It had commies in space, therefore it was awesome by default. (Referring to BZ1, never played BZ2).
I remember not being very good at it though, and it liked to crash on me. D:
This is the only game that did FPS/RTS right!
Machines: Wired for War did it better.
Though I always thought it weird that the sniping target thing was shiny and multicolored.
Also, Machines: Wired for War looks like an RTS, not an FPS. Their site isn't very descriptive and they actually want you to parcipate in the forums to download it? That's stupid, you should be able to freely download stuff like this, then decide if you want to participate in the forums, forcing people to join the forums is bad for Growth too.
Upon reading more of the FAQ, he says you can get it from torrents and other places but then he says he doesn't recommend it since they are very unreliable, shows how much he knows, torrents are the most reliable distribution method around.

It should be a small red dot, like a heat signature.
I think one of the best things that nobody has mentioned its the interavtice weapon system.
Scouts are crap.
Until you put the fucking walker weapons on it!
Seriously , That is the coolest thing about BattleZone
( We should get a group of coders and Make BattleZone 3 ( Via Source ) )

Hovering vehicle physics doesn't mix too well with the Source engine I'd say.
I'm installing BZII now :D I loved BZII
Problem is, when I play BZ, I usually have squads of at least 10 of each unit, and I usually have about 5 squads following me. Source isn't the best physics engine for vehicles. (It would be pretty hard to get the hovering and the smooth mouselook right)
And we could just play empires v:v:v
And we could just play empires v:v:v
But Empires doesn't have floaty tanks and lasers and liquid metal.
Well the problem with BZII is that us folks with brand new PC's have horrible graphical errors.
Bah. I can play for 10 minutes, then everything disappears and it starts to lag horribly.. Any one got any idea how to fix this?

Which Battlezone? First one or the second one?
Well the problem with BZII is that us folks with brand new PC's have horrible graphical errors.
They are both working fine on my PC and most of its hardware is not even a year old yet. :geno:
BZ1 + latest patch works perfectly with Windows 98 Compatibility mode, while BZ2 + latest patch works without any extra tweaking.
Which Battlezone? First one or the second one?
Second, patched to 1.3 as well.
Second, patched to 1.3 as well.
The 1.3 unofficial beta 4 patch? You did patch the game to the official 1.2 patch first didn't you?
Nope I didn't, should I? :C
Edit:
A friend also patched directly to 1.3, no problems for him.

The unofficial 1.3 patch states in the Readme that you need to install the Official 1.2 Patch first or strange things can happen, actually, I think it's changed since then but it's always best to go on the latest official patch first anyway.
Seems like setting Sky quality to none(or low according to the forum mentioned in the first post) fixed it
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GAME!

I could not stop playing this when I was a kid.
I'd just play for hours with no end.
I really wish activision would remake it.
Who want's to set up a Multiplayer game of BZ2?
-snip-
Does any one want to play a game with me sometime this week?
Some people still play this game online. It's a lot of fun.

Nice bumps lol!
Great game, once again :)
Awesome games, they're underrated though
Just went and got a cheap new copy of BZII off of Play.com, can't wait for it to arrive.
I remember playing these games back in the day on my uncle's computer
