Oh and that 3v3 team on my mage was 2350rated before s7 started. I played that team on my Druid, and moved the team onto my mage, because I wanted to keep it. It was the highest rated 3v3 I've ever had!

Hell's yes. Spellpenetration is just as important as hit rating in PvP. It penetrates resistances. For every druid opponent there is, I make their Motw buff meaningless. Pretty much for any class I make their resistances meaningless. It's pretty much a must to have at least 80 spellpen.

I was in a hurry kinda when I geared my mage. I geared him fast, lots and lots of Battleground PvP while running the raid instances once a week.
So I just pretty much ended up having fifty fifty PvE/PvP gear.
I got some items in bags as well. Like some Relentless pieces.

You don't seem to have any idea, do you?
Arcane is vulnerable as fuck when under a lot of pressure. Without the countless Novas/Frostbites/ShatteredBarrier/PetNovas and IceBarriers, they are the nuke target most likely. If you leave them be, they sure are deadly. Just like Moonkins.
So it takes a skilled Arcane mage and a skilled priest to cope with all the anti-caster setups and shit. Yeah, that's just a PvP example, but imo pvp requires a bit more skills and reactions than PvE.
