Nah man it was modded in. Not really in a complete state, just instagib deathmatch.
So I decided to try changing deltatime to 0.05 to see how it's be.
I started up maginot defense and everything seemed to be fine, although units were digging into the dirt and concrete fairly easily, and when the bots finally got to the left entrance, and just started... sinking...
I also tried a couple of drop crates with large explosive payloads. One VANISHED, so I tried another one, which worked fine and made a nice explosion. Five minutes later, the payload of the first crate APPEARED RIGHT ABOVE MY BRAIN.
Delta Time 0.05 is serious business.

dude that would be fun as hell.
No it's not really all that fun. Might as well go play kag or soldat.
Online multiplayer would make this game about 1000x better.
As much as I'd like to invite people over, I can't really cram 4 people into my tiny desk or go all out of my way to move my computer to a TV. Plus (even though it's probably impossible) games with 32 or so players would be an amazing clusterfuck.
but, but free crabs

Physics meant for 20 FPS are OP.

I think LAN would be a good start, I could imagine having LAN parties with this game.
I found a minor cosmetic bug, but fixing it would be a complete bitch. Basically, when a Ronin gets sucked into a dropship and let back out, they often come out looking like a different Ronin soldier. I assume this is because the coding technically spawns another soldier with the exact stats and inventory of the original.
This didn't happen in the old version because each Ronin soldier was technically their own unit-type.

How is he holding the gun, without a thumb? Hmm.

-its got fingers now :D-
Better?
Yaaay its better
And that is indeed an interesting bug. And yeah, i imagine it just preserves the stats of the things it eats, its a teleporter. And since the current Ronin seems designed to randomize the sprite to promote diversity while retaining simplicity...
Forgot to post this Gif here too.

Upping the velocity of the bullet did nothing, this Gif is default setting, I'm thinking if I set it to Fullauto and change the Fire Rate to something stupid like 9999, so when you click once you fire the entire Magazine, thus, 3 really fast bullets come out.
Or you know, you could just change the rounds so they have three times the particles.
If multiplayer across LAN or internet ever is implemented, it should have support for campaign mode, since it'd add some meaning so it.
If you say it's not fun, then why the heck would've split screen multi be added? I mean, Cortex Command is different from Soldat. It's so much more chaotic and fun as a whole, IMO.
Because splitscreen does not require a complete rewrite of the engine or a good netcode.

Why does everyone seem to think you can just add multiplayer to something like this like it's a breeze?

You make it sound like it would be obvious. Most people here don't know how to handle anything more than like 4 gun settings lines :v:

Exactly, I don't know how to edit anything else, otherwise you'd be seeing me making railguns that ripple through the air and burn through walls.
Speaking of burning through walls, does anyone know where that Nano Rifle is from? Like what Mod contains it? (Assuming someone here has heard of it before)
It is obvious when you've been messing around with these files for three years.
[editline]8th October 2012[/editline]
But the easiest way to discover these things is just changing EVERY SINGLE variable, one at once, just to see what they do.

It isn't really that hard. I based my guns off an amalgamation of code from the default weapons. If I wanted more penetration, I checked how the heavy sniper rifle did it.
The nano-rifle is part of the Techion faction, i.e the one that's already in-game
There's a mod nano rifle that someone made some time ago though, more true to the red faction one.
Same one that I'm talking about, I was thinking someone could remake it by merging the code from the Techion Nano Rifle for the look and Maximdude's MDC Acid Grenade Launcher, I'd do it myself but I haven't got a clue about modding weapons and that.
so i just blew the head off one of my soldiers with another clone's sniper rifle.
this is the first time i've ever seen or even thought about FF not working. and for that moment it did not work.

I know, it's actually relatively easy, but most people just want to fuck shit up in game and using mods.

Heh, pillars of creation. Also, you are a lucky fuck, those engines always get me.
New two favourite mods are ACO Delta Covenant and the Bear Federation, fucking awesome.
Wehrmact is easily one of my favorite mods.
So fun to use, and so effective too. If only they still had the tanks and shit.
It would be really nice to see heavy mech units added to the factions. Not the usual walking turret guns, but instead something similar to the Unitec Outlaw or the thing from S.A.W. Like an ACTUAL mech. Vehicles would be awesome too, and not entirely impossible. The Chimera from Unitec works decently
You can still get tanks you just have to include them in the index.ini and actor.ini

If you need help with that just ask

I'm not saying it's easy. I'm just saying, it's not impossible.
Yes, it is very hard. But really most of that difficultly was because the engine was pretty shabby from the start; I betcha that Data has learned an awful lot and has been limited by his first code in the engine.
No it's not impossible but the amount of work required means we might as well make a new engine with polygon destruction of 2d sprites and other cool shit it's called CVE check it out.
