Planetside 2 V4 - The roadmap to Basic Features and a Playable Framerate

I'm not too irked about the weapons as I mostly stick with the defaults. Although, what I want to know is how it will work with vehicles. ie. will unlocking an anti-armor weapon for a factions tank unlock the other factions anti-armor equivalent?

No because primary weapons are completely different cross faction on MBTs and ESFs. Common pool vehicle (e.g lightning) weapons will count cross faction though, obviously. However, since most secondary MBT weapons are NS those will carry across factions.
All the weapons do have faction-equivalents as far as the store giving discounts is concerned, like how when the VS and TR bolt-action rifles are on sale the NC's semi-auto is on sale
I find SC be a ripoff if you ever switch servers or factions since nothing carries over. You can spend 30 dollars on the game but only for one character and if you delete him you lose money.
Just came in here and looked at the phoenix. It's the Redeemer from Unreal Tournament (Minus the nuclear aspect), and I'm perfectly okay with that.
Well the VR room looks neat so far.
EDIT: Idea of what to expect for GU04:

The fact that common pool weapons will be given to everyone but not factional equivalents is ridiculous.
There's already a balance problem in that common pool weaponry almost always does better than faction specific weaponry whenever the option between the two exists (NS-11 is literally a Vanu/TR AR with better stats, Decimator is a direct dumbfire rocket upgrade, Annihilator has the only prediction-based rocket AI, Halberd is the only ranged anti-tank turret worth a damn after the Saron and Enforcer changes, Kobalt beats PPA/VanHammer/Marauder handily at all ranges) leading to a lot of very bland equipment choices. Now, if you're spending money on a character, you've got further reason to ignore the empire specific shit, namely, that you'll never get any use out of it on an alt. I appreciate needing to make some fucking money but this isn't going to earn them more so much as make players purchase odd shit.
If you're going to get an effective third of your money's worth buying anything which isn't a Nanite Systems weapon, people will tend to drift towards the NS gear even more. Not that there's a problem with that stuff being used, but the game gets more monotonous and uninteresting the more that shit becomes prominent. After the mobility and weapon nerfs, the primary differences between a Magrider and Vanguard have become armor and speed. The primary weapon difference is velocity, and the secondary weapons are likely identical. The infantry support is normally Annihilator HAs and Medics with NS-11s. Throw in a new shotgun and pistol given the current power creep, and half the infantry engagements will probably be using identical weaponry.
I didn't put money into this to get Generic Spaceman Shootum DLXXXVII: Some Dudes Wear Purple!

Fuck no, I wouldn't touch those forums with a ten foot pole. Also the lasher doesn't bug me.

brb, rerolling NC.
Rumble Seat grants the ability to have a passenger being able to fire his weapon, did I get it right? If so, then this is where the fun part is. Phoenix is camguided (TV missile), that means while navigating it, you're stationary. Drawback.
Now take your Flash, take Rumble seat, have a passenger Heavy with Phoenix.
i like how the OP drags on about all this serious-business outfit stuff and then the entire thread is just pony image spam that has nothing to do with the game
stay classy bronies
And then there's this...
The Pony Brigade is prepared to meet you in the ring of honor. Good luck, and may the best ponies win.
"Empire specific weapon" includes any weapon that is not exactly the same for others?
If that's the case I'm going to rage in a stellar manner.
SO I can play with my dalton on any faction when it goes up?
yay I guess
TR helmet also made it to model form pretty much unchanged. Looks even better in 3D imo, even without textures.
still looks like a stormtrooper
TR confirmed for worst faction

ohohohoho, time for some good old-fashioned 'friendly' fire incidents
still looks like a stormtrooper
And that's bad how?

I don't understand why they can't just make it so it ports the equivalent
I.E. buy a lasher, you get the minigun if you start playing TR
Sure they are fundamentally different weapons but they are clearly considered apart of the same "class" of special weaponry. They've yet to implement a weapon for a faction that no other faction doesn't have their own version/counter to that weapon.
Honestly though none of this shit bothers me. I have no desire to faction hop at all, and I don't know many people who do. The only people I know who do are people who genuinely want to change servers, and who picked "the wrong faction" in the start... of which, I don't know a single person apart of that group who actually bothered to buy weapons for a faction they didn't like playing in with their SC.
I knew they were going to skimp out and pull some bullshit like that.
At least I spent most of my SC on the liberator.
oh man, i love how they're baiting people with the sale today.
those things are awful compared to the SMG.
And that's bad how?
quite the opposite, it's awesome
so i tried turning up the game to high settings just to see how my pc would handle it and
damn this game looks good

You missed Fog Shadows.
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8403469/Steam/218230_2013-02-19_00003.png[/t]
You can turn it on even on lower settings as long as you have a decent GPU, it's a pretty nice setting.

beautiful image

i would have but i didnt want my little pc to explode
I disabled shadows all together. After the merge I'm getting shit FPS.
brb, rerolling NC.
And then there's this...
Would any TR guys like to team up with us VS guys and run liberator bombing runs over wherever they are fighting?
Think of the generic tokens of orangeness you'll get!
I have no desire to faction hop at all, and I don't know many people who do.
So basically you live in crazyland.
Outside of Buzz and now you, everyone I know who plays this has at least one alt and plays it regularly (once a week minimum).
I don't. I have a NC alt, but I rarely play it. I know very few people on the NC side, don't like their guns etc and on top of all I love all the shit I have unlocked on my TR (nighthawk, dalton, bulldogs on everything, etc)
But even if I could use all this on my NC alt I would rarely play it, just because I already know a lot of people on the TR side.
I have an NC alt but I never played it because of Station cash but with the new update next week that won't be an issue anymore.

I have alts but I don't play them regularly any more, so I guess that puts me somewhere in between. Everyone should at least try other factions though, if only to get a feel for how they play and work. I think a lot of the "X is OP" "X IS FINE SHUT UP JUST LEARN HOW TO PLAY" type arguments would go a lot smoother if people actually took the time to play other factions every now and again.
Anyway, now that Soltech (where my alts were) merged with Mattherson (where my main is) I don't particularly want to play my TR character all that much, since Mattherson TR are a bunch of trash talking dickheads who think they're ~~so skilled~.
Wait, so the Phoenix is gonna be guided like a HL2 rocket launcher or like a UT Redeemer?
my new gaming pc will have a stickynote on it that says "dedicated to planetside 2"
the one I'm using has no discreet gpu
Wait, so the Phoenix is gonna be guided like a HL2 rocket launcher or like a UT Redeemer?
the latter. striker is going to be the hl2 rpg.
the latter. striker is going to be the hl2 rpg.
It's a lockon, but you have to keep the lock on for the entire time, even while the rocket is in flight.
Y'know... I can only hope that they optimize these models before they put them in-game. After looking at extracted models and how ridiculously high the polycount is, I'd not be surprised if someone finds these high poly sculpts in the files once they're released.
People create high-poly version as well as low-poly. High-poly are used to generate normals and sometimes DX11 tessellation maps.
