You're seriously asking if you should send the console back for a free replacement or just buy a new one? Come on, send it back AND buy the new one, you consumer whore. Or you could not lay out any dollars and play the replacement console until it dies or you decide to sell it any way.
People should learn to take better care of their xboxes then. Ive had mine for 3-4 years now without any issues.
I had mine in a well ventilated space standing up and it RROD'd after a year, I wouldn'tve cared, but when I sent it back they returned it with bits broken off it, telling us we tampered with it and they wouldn't repair it. Fuck Microsoft. Wasn't game for giving them more money after that, so I got the next one second hand, which also Red Ringed after a year, but I can't really complain about that since it was 2nd hand. I'm now on my third xbox, if this Red Rings and they don't repair it I will personally render Bill Gates infertile.
Alright, heres what I did to get a refurbished. Wrap the xbox in as many towels as you can, and turn it on. Remember to remove the hard drive and any discs. THIS ISNT THE TOWEL TRICK. leave it on like that for at least 3 hours, make sure it is on. Do this again the next day. Your Xbox is now fucked beyond repair, if you send it in you will get a refurrbished one with a free month, as well as a year of warranty. This is what I did and I got it back in 4 days. I discovered this myself a year back.
For those tl;dr people:XBox is broken, break it even more to get a new one :v:
I'm sorry but, what? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOCOM_4 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killzone_3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.U.S.E.
Trust me, you haven't. That or you play 10 minutes a week.
I have had that too, and I played a pretty lot on it, my xbox rrodded like 2 months ago, I had it since the release.
Mine only RRODed once, and I had to return it, plus, it was a first generation 360. And I have been playing around 3-4 hours when I use it. Although, get the new 360, more better, and has a larger HDD. Plus, built-in wifi(what took them so long?).
if you are an american who wants to support the american economy, get it refurb'd. if you are a rich fool who supports... i dont know, then ps3 is for you. if you want to be able to afford your next meal, 360 is for you. refurb that P.O.S. so you can play crackdown 2 or halo reach when those awesome pieces of shit come out. otherwise i recommend getting a good pc so you can play crysis (AKA cheap halo knockoff with bad AI). on second though, don't upgrade for crysis, upgrade for games in general.
ITT: Fanboys (AKA kids who can't afford both and/or feel the need to shit on the one they don't have)
Get a PS3, get Little Big Planet, enjoy life.
And do cross game chat with your friends...Oh wait...
To avoid future frustration I would buy the new model.
Just send it in and wait for a refurbished one. I think they send you a free one month card too.
When I sold my 360 to get a PS3 I suddenly had 10,000x more fun playing console games, there's a lot more interesting games on the PS3 now, you might as well sell that piece of crap that's going to be drowning in family-friendly kinect games next year so you can get a PS3/more interesting games. (User was banned for this post ("Why reply" - Jimbomcb))
You have no knowledge of how the video game industry works! You seriously think Xbox is gonna fail because there releasing "Family Friendly" Games as there launch line up for Kinect? Guess what, I work at Gamestop and the pre-orders for kinect and the kinect games are about 20k, and counting. Thats in my store alone.
if your xbox broke 4 times why on earth would you buy another one
If you play it a lot and are planning to buy kinect, get a new one, otherwise just send it in.
why dont you fix it yourself ;o
